I don’t know what Matt Blake sees in pitchers. I lost track of how many pitchers that are terrible for other teams and he turns their careers around. We need the hitting coach equivalent of Matt Blake.

The Riz is a fan favorite but it looks like the neck injury Tatis gave him ended his career. He was carrying the Yankees last year before he got hurt by Tatis. I hope he turns it around.

Career Rice is .986 with 5 errors in 52 games at 1B (vs 192g at C)- so he's still learning. This year Rizzo is .994 (surprisingly) with 3 errors in 64 games. Similar RangeFactor between the two this year.

The opposing team could take every fielder out of the game except the 2nd baseman, and rizzo would still softly ground out to second every single at bat. I’ve never seen anything like it. The other team’s 2nd baseman will have 4 ground ball outs a game, three of them are Rizzo’s.

Rizzo whenever he makes contact it's a groundout double play from the infield that leads into a double most of the time. I say we make him a coach other than that we need to cut him or ride out his contract for this season.

Leave Rizzo alone, he’s a great veteran presence and the Yanks are winning right now. We’re not even at the All-Star break yet. If he starts to cost them games it’s a different story. I think Gleyber is more of a liability with his lackadaisical play. Rizzo can easily get hot when others start to cool down. Not time to hit the panic button yet or mess with the clubhouse chemistry.

Do you remember what happened when we traded Joey Gallo? Same thing will happen if we get rid of Rizzo. Things are working the way they are for a reason

I'm hoping Rizzo comes alive - I really like him, and if he would get hot, that would make the lineup significantly stronger - more of a nightmare for opposing pitchers. But you make a good point that Ben Rice is looking awfully good - and he's a lot younger than Rizzo. How about this? - Rizzo gets back to being at his best and helps us win the World Series this season - then we bring Rice up next year. Or maybe things could work out so that we could add Rice to the roster this year and platoon him with Rizzo. We have too many really good players, counting the good guys down in the minors - MLB should just let us keep more guys on the roster. 😁

Give Rice or DJ a shot. If that fails, give Judge a 1st baseman's glove at end of season in preparation for the switch next year. Leaves 2 outfield spots of Dominquez and Jones should Soto resigns.

Good problems to have! Especially with younger (cheaper) talent. Helps off set the bag Soto is looking for.

If Ben Rice becomes our new first baseman, I'd eat Stanton's money and release him to make room for Judge at the DH spot and Spencer Jones in the outfield. I think we're at a point where a lot of the dead wood is falling off our team.

The Yankees should make a trade for Paul Goldschmidt. The Yankees and Cardinals seem to be good business partners and Goldschmidt won't resign with Cardinals after this season.

Let’s see Rice hit a few good breaking balls and some change ups. Most Yankee prospects seem to wilt in the sunshine majors. .270 would most likely translate to .210 in the Show. And the DJ is not hitting the cover off of the ball either so why are you not carping about him over Rizzo?

Yeah, Ive been saying it since the winter, this infield is very very suspect....I dont think we can win in October with DJ Rizzo and Torres....DJ and Rizzo are shells of themselves and Torres is so inconsistent anymore. Judge and Soto can't play 8 positions.

Yeah its time to move on. They might miss him in the clubhouse, but they got a shot at the World Series if they can add around Judge and Soto. Having 1B open could allow for other guys to play there, and opens up DH too.

Before last year, it would have been a tough decision. Now, not so much. He grounds into too many double plays too.

Here's a lineup note: I'm not saying trade him, but I think Boone should bench Gleyber and put DJ at second base. I think we'd be stronger overall defensively that way, and that way you can keep Cabrera at third. Tough call though - if Gleyber is hitting well, he's another power bat - more of a power hitter than DJ, but that seems to be kind of a big "IF" at this point.

Speculating that it is not the concussion is your mistake in this discussion. TBI cause issues with hand eye coordination. Very possible it's the concussion that still ruminating. Concussion in football are different. Hand eye coordination is everything in baseball. Athleticism is more important in football. I don't think you can come back from TBI and play elevated MLB baseball. IF anyone is watching from the Yankees, get a RighEYE machine and have Rizzo play the eye games non stop!

When I recently viewed Rizzo coming to bat against a pitcher who had lost all his control, I assumed a veteran like him would be patient and let the pitcher prove he can locate the strike zone before swinging. I was shocked when he went down on three pitches that were nowhere near the strike zone, looking like an inept minor leaguer. It's clear that he's not thinking about the good of the team and just wants personal glory at whatever cost. He's become a pathetic semblance of his old self.

The Yankees don't have a hard decision. Until this past Sunday, Rizzo has had 1 game.off. He looks as if he is fatigued. If he has a few days off, he will bounce back. The other dynamic is Rizzo's clubhouse presence and I don't think that Judge lets Rizzo get disrespected by being DFA'd. Rice has 6 games of AAA vall under his belt. He hasn't had sufficient time to learn the position. There is no way he is ready to be in the bigs. How many player have killed it at the AAA level and couldiln't cut it at the major league level?? Clint Frazier, Florial, Perara . . . I have been saying for months now I believe that within 3 years either Jones or Dominguez will be traded. If you lock Ben Rice into 1st base. Where is Jones supposed to make the roster at? Are you dumping Judge or Soto?? I don't see it happening like that. So you tell me who goes???

Is there really that much evidence Rizzo is great in the clubhouse? You hear the same thing about Stanton, but I don’t see much evidence of that either. The Yankees need to understand that these bad contracts are not getting any better. Just about the only leverage to get these older players to want to go is to reduce their playing time. Stanton shouldn’t be in the starting lineup against a right handed starter and if he wants playing time, maybe he will accept a trade.

I don’t see the Yankees turning to a rookie at first base. They can trade for someone. But you can’t turn to an unknown rookie at first when you’re trying to win a World Series. I agree Rizzo’s cooked. But no way the yanks bench rizzo for a rookie. Not happening
