because classic touhou is considered to be mostly around 6. it's like how classic doctor who is mostly considered to be around the 4th doctors run and not the 1st.

True Touhou gameplay ( what it supposed to be ) is from touhou 2 But the classic one is from touhou 6

@@marisakirisame867 I'd argue from TH4, rather than from TH6. That's when a lot of the elements that would become the core of main series gameplay going forward were introduced: focus, deathbombs, graze, 6 Stages (TH2 had 5 stages, TH3 was a versus shmup with 9 story matches), Extra Boss bomb shields, autocollect when you use a bomb, Marisa as Protagonist #2 (she was playable in TH3 but listed third, with Mima as second). It's almost poetic. The first three games, all having different gameplay from each other, feel in hindsight like ZUN experimenting with what kind of games he wanted to make. The fourth comes across as him finally making up his mind, choosing the scrolling shmup format he had explored two games prior, polishing it and setting a baseline to build on going forward (well, he has also revisited the versus shmup concept twice, but you get the idea).

I used to make games back in college as well. My games turned out similar. Great ideas, absurd amounts of jank. It makes games like HRtP really fun and unique to play.

Honestly, Kikuri is infamous solely because of her opener, but the whole rest of the fight is a lot more reasonable. I'd actually say YuugenMagan has a worse fight, between the difficulty moving between the missiles early into the fight and the final phase where only one eye is open at a time and you scramble to get the orb to go where you need it to go. I like to call Kikuri "Best Girl With Worst Opener" because she cute. ❤
