Wonderful biography. I recall reading about Toulouse Lautrec in Irving Stone's Lust for Life, the novel about Van Gogh. It was a great way to meet many of Van Gogh's contemporaries.
Good video. Covers some of the high points of his life and career. In 1978 I wrote a lengthy study of Tolouse Lautrec primarily focusing on his style. The evolution of it and the influences on it. This of course, delved into his lifestyle as it's not only fascinating in and of itself, but is germain to this evolution.
A wonderful albeit sad video documenting the artist's life brilliantly. A moving tribute to an incredibly talented man who went on against so many odds. Odds that would have stifled the average person. I already knew quite a lot about him having read many great publications. Also, I live in Chicago where a few of his best known works are displayed but this video walks you through his life and his extremely sad suffering and death. So precise it felt like the end of me as well. I am recommending it to friends. Thank you. I have subscribed and look forward to more.
He and his work are even more valuable when you paint canvases. Then you REALLY learn how amateur and poorly skilled you truly are.......................Study his brush strokes and thickness of paint........... Toulouse-Lautrec was, and IS, a MASTER of painting!! ❤
I just thirdly enjoy His art the part is sort of bothers me a little is that the musee d orsay As his art stuck in a corner of the building he have to really search around find ithat's a shame. How have you been to the orsay many times 😮 In fact is my favorite museum in the world. The other artist really enjoy is renoir. Thank you for putting this together wonderful job
Toulouse-Lautrec was so much more than just 'an advertising, poster painter ' and it's a true shame his work is not better recognized and valued. If one looks closely as his brush strokes, one will see the incredible, unequalled fluidity of each mark he makes on the canvas. His sense of perspective and, further, interpretation is impossible to surpass. Quite honestly, other artists whose work is valued monetarily at a much higher amount, are frauds compared to Toulouse-Lautrec but, as with SO MUCH, the world is FULL of over compensated stupid people who fall daily for the con-artists known as Art Critics and Art Gallery owners. It's fun to watch the "art collectors' spend their money!!!!!😂😂😅😂🤣
You can see his almost plagiaristic Van Gogh influnced style at 14:30. Both in color and psychedelic brush stroke Wile still a great artist in his own right, they all borrowed from each other.
The computer voice made it unwatchable for me. Too bad. he was a brilliant painter. It's ironic to have a completely emotionless narration, about a painter who's work is all about emotion.
Soon, I fear, there will be no content available on any platform that does not feature one of these horrible AI narrators. I'd much rather listen to a stammering human than the glibbest, most articulate machine. For now, I'm going to block this channel.
It is wearing after a while to listen to this AI voice. The intonation patterns are deceptively realistic until you realize how repetitious they are. Another feature that ultimately makes for strained listening is the evenness of the syllable timing--not a characteristic of English.
