Indeed tiny houses are a great housing option. It's a challenge for young people to save, plan for retirement, build an emergency fund, get a down payment saved and pay off student loans at the same time unless they have some degree of financial privilege. It seems like buying a house or renting was easier when I was in my 20s and 30s.
Agreed Danelle! I think buying and renting is becoming more difficult for younger people. Maybe we will see a wave of tiny hoes begin to pop up as a result!

Can you go through the process of getting the permission to build tiny houses for Airbnb in Portugal? I thought that in Portugal, in regardless if your tiny home is on wheels or not, it is still considered as habitual. Is that the same for your tiny house? Any help much appreciated
I'm really happy that you're following your dreams. I'm Portuguese, I born here and I still live here. I have a baby and a dog that now had 7 babies. We are in a small apartment in Lisbon and we have to left this house. We don't have anywhere to go. I'm searching to rent a house already for 8 months. The rents are very expensive now for what we gain here. But... The problem is not the money is more than that. We don't have more houses for so much people. Is more people searching for than the houses that are available. I found your video because my dream was always to live in a tiny house, I don't need more. I don't need a big house. I just need a house right now. That's all. Because yes, we are very open people, very charismatic but we are facing a big crisis here. And I'm even more sad because I know that at this moment single mothers like me are going to live on the streets with their babies. This is very scary, this is very dangerous. I pray for All.

Other stops to consider for an itinerary: Monsanto (most beautiful village I've ever seen - on a small mountain surrounded by lush lowlands, with homes designed around boulders), and the Convento Sao Francisco in Mertola (monastery converted by artists, across a stream from a medieval village).

Love the transparency. Costs and timeline for the tiny home? I have three beach front tiny homes in construction, in the tropics, but they are two story solid concrete block and not mobile. I am probably looking at a 2x build to rent cycle from the original estimate (great sales presentation). This was not expected and is eating into my retire early life. I am really interested in Portugal for another (next) rental purchase but have been looking at the Azores (I don't know those islands just seem magical). You two seem to do some finish work yourselves so that is probably a big cost savings. My three tiny homes are hands off including furnishings and property management. BTW you beat me by a lot on fire (55YO). Again, I am looking for costs and timeline since I want Portugal too. I know this is really intrusive into your privacy.

I'd love to have a semi-off-grid version in an emerging developing economy. I have been considering this for 25 years, since renting a self sufficient house on the Sea of Cortez. Looking at Mexico, Ecuador, hopefully Portugal, France and Georgia in coming years.

I hear mix reviews about tiny house laws in Portugal. Being it being classified as camper and it can’t be on property longer than 365 days. Do you have any laws or regulations documents? Would love to consider doing this but curious laws regulations
Do you guys ever consult with people in buying homes in Portugal? I realize that you are not legal advice, but I think a consult with Americans who are new to purchasing, you could add valuable input that Americans may miss when purchasing in a newer country. I know you say to rent first, but we want to buy as soon as possible.....so we still may miss things that you might be aware of that we would not. I have watched a ton of videos on buying in Portugal......but I think you guys consulting would be great.

I told my wife when our daughter gets married or has her own house, that I would love for us to move into a tiny home. Just get rid of a lot of the stuff that we have and keep the basics. I don't like many things as you become a slave to them.
