im actually in the research phase of getting a truck camper and living in it full time, really liked your videos, found them to be informative and useful to get an idea of what it would actually be like to live in one instead of just technical answers

Hey Taylor, on your generator exhaust being loud, easy fix. Right underneath where you showed the exhaust pipe, cut about a 4-inch section out of the exhaust pipe, buy an unrestricted muffler with a heat guard and put that on, then put the leftover exhaust pipe on to come out far enough to the outside of your camper. I have 2 mufflers on mine.

I'm loving your channel! My partner and I just recently purchased a Bigfoot truck camper and will be moving into it full time starting February 2018. WOO! I'm so excited! We'll also be making our way up to your home country for some skiing on the powder highway!! It'll be my first time to Canada - if you've got any recommendations, send 'em my way! Congrats on the channel and good luck on your journey!

@Girl LetGo - I'm responding to your 3 year old comment here! Hope you don't mind me asking if you're still living in the truck camper full time? I've been thinking about doing something like this myself one day and was just curious overall how you like or dislike it. Also, is there problems with condensation inside the camper when it's cold outside?

Wow so much clever storage ideas on a little camper on the back of a pickup-truck. This thing has more space inside than a little euro camper trailer. Unfortunately we dont get big pickup- trucks here in europe...

The Mammoth is spectacular. I've been drooling over the idea of that myself. I also LOVE the huge basement tray for loading in a few pairs of skis! But it is a monster and big $$$$$. I have yet to buy my first t/c combo and need both. Rather not have to go with a dually either. Thinking of one of the Northstar campers first, or maybe the AF 900 which is a beautiful unit!

Taylor Dzaman, You seem to be much better at recording than other RV beginners, as if you have experience already.. And you seem to have a natural talent for being in the spotlight. I estimate if you keep it up, you'll grow fast on RU-vid. At least around 1,000 viewers/month. I can't wait to visit Vancouver Island too. I also want to meet you and Steve Wallis.

Good info. I have a question. Do you have a firearm for self-defense and/or general protection when you're out there? If so, maybe consider a video on the pros and cons of doing so. Thanks.
@swss12
@swss12 6 лет назад
just letting you know that your truck to camper plug in will actually charge your batteries pretty fast. usually it is 8-10 gauge wire from truck to camper with 40 ampfuses/breakers. so you should see about 30 amps charging while the truck is running.
@swss12
@swss12 6 лет назад
also i should mention that the trailer or camper plugs are wired hot all the time in the 6.0 chevy. i am going to put relays on accessory power for my camper so that the truck battery is only connected to the camper if the keys on.

I’ve been watching a few of your videos. Although I’m not interested in living in a camper it would be my choice for exploring the country side and camping. I would prefer boondocking as apposed to parks and camp grounds. I just have a question about your choice of campers. There’s lots of makes out there. Did you check out the northern lite. They’re made out in BC. They don’t have any slide outs. They’re a 2 piece construction. Thanks.

Nice video. I have been looking at that kind of set up. Why did you go with a dually truck? Although designed for carrying a lot of weight I have talked with a lot of people towing heavy 5th wheel campers and they all insist the single tire on each side is better for towing heavy weight because of more pounds per square inch of rubber contact on the road, especially in slippery conditions. The dually trucks supposedly bounce in the rear and can cause a spinout in rain. I would choose a gas engine also because it's less expensive initially and more readily available in remote areas. And of course 4x4 is really important for exploring and not getting stuck. I always have mudders on my front tires on my 4x4, whatever model it is. You might consider upgrading your front tires down the road. Good Luck and can't wait to see more.
@Milesco
@Milesco 5 лет назад
With a heavy 5th wheel trailer, you *_always_* have plenty of weight on the tires! "I don't have enough weight on my tires" said no one, ever. As far as traction is concerned, the formula is coefficient of friction × weight. Notice that area is not part of the formula. I can see where hydroplaning could be an issue, and that's where theoretically a narrower contact patch could be helpful, but really, if that's an issue, it means you're driving too fast in the rain. I can also visualize how it might seem that in muddy or snow/sleet conditions, a narrower contact patch would better "cut through" the mud & snow to get in direct contact with the road surface. But I think that may be an assumption based on how something "seems" or "feels", rather than a real, observable, measurable, thing. Like thinking that heavier objects fall faster than light ones -- it _feels_ like that should be true, but it isn't. I would like to see some scientific testing of that issue (single tires giving better traction in mud & snow than dual). I think that if you are towing, supporting, or carrying a heavy load, dual rear wheels is definitely the way to go.

I had a Desert Fox (same mfg) toy hauler that I lived in for a year in rural NE Scottsdale, AZ while we built our current home. Well constructed unit for the most part, they could have spent a bit more on the foam in the cushions of the seats and cabinets were a bit iffy. At least the floor was warm in the winter and there were several nights it was in the teens. Summer it did OK too.

Why did you decide to go with a gas engine instead of a diesel? I see you're from Canada so I wonder if it has anything to do with the diesel jelling up. When my dad and I had practically the same truck other than the engine my 7.3 Powerstroke got a lot better mileage than his V-10 did.
