Why did I buy an Arctic Fox 990 Truck camper? There are so many truck campers on the market so what made me buy an Arctic fox ? There are so many choices when it comes to buying an RV. Making that final decision is amazing because you know there's so much adventure on the road ahead !
My names Taylor and everything I own is on wheels. I live in a TRUCK CAMPER full time and love to TRAVEL. Follow my journey and I will try my very best to keep you entertained.

If there is a genius working at Arctic Fox he or she should be writing you a big fat check, or planning to give you their newest model right now. Arctic Fox could not buy a commercial like this for 100k..The reason you are so fun to watch is that you are REAL..and this is a REAL endorsement of a great product..and anyone in marketing knows how compelling that is. Hey Arctic Fox guys, and gals..you better figure out how to use this kid!

HELLLLOOOO TAYLOR!!! 😀😀😀😀 Man oh man...I was hoping you'd be posting today! Had a feeling in my bones and there it is! So many things you have answered previously and yet... You remain open and cordial and do it all again. People should just watch all your videos from #1 till now and they would be enlightened as to so much of the info they ask questions on now. But you are the quintessential good host and go over it again. Can't have too much information when making a big decision. 👍 When you said you were at Goldstream Park...I just jumped for joy. I was there in the summer of '68 and witnessed the fire they had there. It was coming over the hillside towards us as we watched right from our camping spot. Sadly we also watched as a water tanker went into the hillside and we saw it explode. All the kids cried as did many of the parents. I hate to see such gorgeous country burn, but I guess it has recovered. Hooray! My question to you is, you don't seem like it, but do you consider yourself an introvert at all. Maybe you're just like a lot of the rest of us (normal balance introvert/extrovert) and don't like the big crowds and all the hullabaloo that goes with being around a lot of people all the time. I'm in customer service and I can relate after being on the phone all day with people not wanting to go spend a lot of time with more people, just select people. Or sometimes just no people and a good book or movie. Not sure how you're doing with your electric blanket but I did some research on a couple of RV type heaters that use propane but very conservatively. They are called The Olympian Wave 3 or the Olympian Wave 6. They are both available on Amazon and while not really cheap, they can run a long time on very little fuel. They are catalytic heaters and do a wonderful job from the reviews that I've seen on videos from CheapRVLiving on RU-vid. The 3 is for a pretty small space like the size of someone doing nomad lifestyle in a van. And the 6 seems like it would be ideal for a smaller camper like yours where you could run it most of the time on low using very little fuel instead of having to use a lesser model on high and expend more fuel. The big issue with these as is with most heaters, is making sure you have ample ventilation in the camper while it's running. Of course I know that you are a very safe person, I can tell that from how you handle yourself in your videos. Just thought I'd mention these since you said you were going to be reading through the comments for questions and I knew you would see it. Might even be something for next winter to save up towards. As always. enjoyed the video immensely. Sorry you're trapped indoors, that's not always fun. And I love the blooper reel and of course the intro. Keep living that dream my friend. You bring us all closer to the dream every time we see one of your posts. Thank you! 7604 subscribers. 10K is just around the corner. 😀👍🎉🎆🎊🎇

Arctic Fox is a nice warm camper. I'm shopping for an 865 right now. I will ride on a 2017 RAM 3500 SRW with the 6.4L gasoline engine. I too am a solo camper. Thanks for the encouragement, Taylor.
@pnachtwey
@pnachtwey 4 года назад
I thought about that but you really should get a dually. You will be too close to the weight limit and probably over the weight limit when the fresh water tank is full. My pickup is a RAM 3500 DRW with air bags and the 6.4L Hemi with the new 8 speed transmission. I like the 8 speed transmission but gas mileage still sucks when driving up and down remote roads in the forest.

Another great video. I have a 2015 Arctic Fox double slide camper I really like. I have owned fifth wheels and campers for 45 years and I sold Arctic Foxes for 1 year. They are my favourite RV, no question. My 2015 still has the flat ceiling , I wish I had the arched ceiling like the newer ones, but at least I am only 5' 8 " so the lower ceiling is not too bad for me. One great feature of the Arctic Fox slide that I have not heard you mention is the fact , it is one of the few slides on the market that is sealed in any position, even partly opened. This is great if you just want to open it a few inches in the pouring rain. Most RV slides even in high end units like my 33 ft Montana Fifth Wheel are only sealed in the fully open or fully closed position. Arctic Fox is a great company that is always trying to improve their products, that is why they went to the 2500 pound jacks they now use. They were using a less reliable jack brand back when I sold them in 2010. That was one of the few things that gave trouble and Arctic Fox fixed that problem. Keep the great videos coming. Regards Rvduck.

We have never regretted one day of owning our Arctic Fox Truck Camper 990 with a slide, for 10 years now. And it is still almost as good as new. No problems. No leaks with the slide whatsoever. Previously, we researched, and tried out other campers without a slide. Hands down, we have the best no matter what anyone says. Rain, snow or sun, it is fun!!

@pnachtwey

The bathroom is called a wet bath. The shower and toilet are in the same tight area. Taylor and I are about the same size. It is tight but I take navy showers or sponge baths to conserve water. I don't like to get between the sheets when I am sticky. The toilet is easy to use when doing number 1. Number 2 requires frequent flushing. There are special chemicals, oder reducers and toilet paper for the toilet.

I've been looking at getting a Lance 650. I am/was leaning toward smaller as I am quite fine with that. Less weight, easier to get around. But after you mentioned your water holding tanks, I'm rethinking my needs. For a truck camper, that's a lot of water, (and waste) tanks. It will be 6 months before I am ready to buy, and it's killing me. I am very much like you, live life now and get what you want. I've never regretted buying something that I wanted NOW.

You made a great choice with the Arctic Fox. But you are right. Had there been an Eagle Cap with side entry I very well may have gotten that instead of the AF 1150..but same as you, I walked into the 1150 and me and the Mrs. fell in love with it. The one thing about it that I am not in love with is the lower shower pressure.

Question for your Q&A - Your videos are so enjoyable. The scenery is wonderful and you're delightful. On a couple videos there was drone footage of your rig driving down the road. Since it appears that you are traveling alone...how do you do that? How do you fly the drone and drive at the same time? I know nothing about video editing or drones so I'm asking this with the understanding that there are no dumb questions. :)

Thumbs up. You have a great camper :) When I was deciding on a camper it was between the Eagle Cap 960 because of it's Cal King bed and large wet bath, the Arctic Fox 1150 because it's beautiful and spacious, and the Alaskan for the pop-up hard side and pirate ship feel. I decided the pop-up hard side offered too many advantages to pass up, but if I had gotten a fixed roof camper it would have been the Arctic Fox.

Bigger "bed" (dinette) in the 990 is a good reason to go 990 instead of the 811. The dinette in the 811 makes a smallish bed for adults. I bought my Arctic Fox for basically the same reasons you did: Quality, very nice appearance inside, and I fell in love with them... and my previous RV was a Northwood MFG Product - it was one of their toy haulers. I sold it and went truck camper because I wanted to down size. seems hard to believe, but here I am 8.5 years later and I still have the truck and camper.

Delta Bravo: What made ya downsize, any regrets? Im torn on an Arctic Fox TC or a 28ft TT. Im a solo traveler, at least for a year or so. Theres advantages to both I know, but the TC seems to be more convenient when pulling into places and visiting smaller towns off the beaten path but the TT has more room inside. Whats your take since you had both? Thanks!!

The “just do it” attitude is so very easy when you are able to get the financing to live your dreams. I on the other hand, i live in the just do it attitude but can not get the financing to go out and buy what I want and go live my dreams. So ya it makes me angry and upset when someone else is capable of doing what I want to do and they say that it is so very easy to do and to go do it. Your videos are amazing and I wish you the best and to keep doing what you love. Just wish I could be doing it also. 😭😭

I love it! 100% Main reason, the four season factor. The possibilities for my cat, too. Fell in love with it and found your channel in the process. I was already smitten, but when I saw it at a local dealer the 990 was the only one in the heated showroom and I was blown away. It was monstrous. Mountainous! Gorgeous. I'm enjoying the process, and you inspire me daily. As always, thank you. Questions? How does your day go, doing general checks looking at systems on board? How long have you stayed in one place and what are the limits of your systems for a single person? How often do you fill propane? I'm just trying to imagine a day or a week or two in the life... Also, what's the worst thing you did wrong did you make any really silly mistakes? I can barely operate here at home lol not very mechanical yet, but this makes me want to learn all I can. Anything along that line is all I can think of to ask you right now. Thanks again, Taylor!

Great advice, get what makes you happy. I had a Catalina 27, loved it but needed a bit more room. Now have a Trojan International 10 meter. Currently rebuilding a pop up truck camper. If I really use it like I think I will, I'll upgrade it. Going to subscribe and keep up with your adventures! Ash

Great video, very informative. I started off my search for an RV with truck campers but soon realized they weren't for me. I'm 6'6" and in many truck campers there simply wasn't enough head room, especially as you pointed out in the sleeping area. The bathroom in most simply wasn't usable because it had even less headroom.

I looked at a number of truck campers can't remember if I looked at that particular model. Last year I saw a RU-vidr who is 6'7" or taller and living comfortably in a truck camper so I know it's possible for tall guys to find the right camper. Settled on my particular class A because of the headroom in the RV and headroom and elbow room in the shower plus a full queen bed, important features if you want to spend the winter in an RV in the US southwest.

That is so true about buying what you love. I regret buying the car I have now because even though it was a great deal and a fantastic car. I don’t love it and can’t wait to get a new vehicle that I love. Also have you looked into underwater cameras? I have the Nikon aw110 and the Kodak playsport. Both are pretty sweet. I can film in the rain - no issues. Got some really great shots in the pool too without worrying I was gonna get the camera wet.

We just bought an Artic Wolf fifth-wheel for many of the same reasons you said (except the dealer part - we bought at an RV show with maybe 8 or 10 dealers and 12+ different brands so we had plenty of options).
