Thanks for the memories and updates Matt. I used to live in Plymouth and ride bike up Hines Dr. to downtown Northville. Both Plymouth and Northville are nostalgic small towns.

It was great seeing this all again, thanks for the tour. I grew up in Northville. One thing I really miss about Northville (and several other older cities in that area), including the downtown area... Everything is connected, and almost everything has sidewalks. I'm in the St. Louis area these days, and so many of the individual cities here lock off every individual neighborhood, one way in one way out, and the sidewalks come and go. It makes walking or biking around super frustrating and more dangerous, and driving much more irritating and time consuming sometimes too. Northville, most of it is just a simple grid with some turns, and you can pass through most of them. Being a kid in those areas has gotta be a lot less fun, you can't go nearly as many places on foot. In Northville we weren't too far from Guernsey, but I'd regularly ride my bike into downtown Northville, go to the book store there, stop at the library, get a free sample at Great Harvest, go to the candy shop, look around during the Victorian Festival, etc. Good memories.

Thanks so much for the comment. This is very helpful to our out of town buyers. This is a great way to explain our our SE Michigan communities are. It is rare compared to other parts of the county. My dad actually grew up off 7 Mile and used to go downtown on his bike as well. Similar stories! I bet St. Louis doesn't have a Guernsey's?!

@@LIVINGINDETROIT St. Louis doesn't have anything exactly like Guernsey, but if you're ever in St. Louis, there is a rather beloved family owned nearly century old custard ice cream place to try, Ted Drewes. The son of the original Ted Drewes, Ted Drewes Jr, still owns it and refuses to franchise or sell. He's 96! It's super popular, massive lines on busy days. Much like Guernsey, the grocery stores in the area sell it pre-packaged as well. Even the airport has it! It's very good. But, I still miss Guernsey, hah.

I live in Farmington but I go downtown northville at least twice a week

One of my favorite parts of Southeast Michigan is that we have these cool downtown areas that all the surrounding communities go to. You can hop from Farmington to Northville, to Plymouth to Royal Oak, or whatever. How lucky are we!
