Not sure why everyone seems so impressed in the comments. Get this to production and have it do some actual work in the real and then I will be impressed. There's no shortage of lab demos.

Thank you, Giant AI, for using the human-like method of moving limbs. I hope your concepts gain market value without the usual 40 year wait. Younger workers can be a problem in even retail stores. They quit within weeks or spent time listening to music on their cell phones. If you need to ask a question or give a task, they must see you and then pull an earpiece out. Your goals address Japan's loss of young people to work or care for the elderly.

Can you imagine the millions of uses for these robots from restaurants to factories. He mentioned "lease" to customer. I'm wondering what the cost will be to lease one or purchase one?

Existing Robots-as-a-Service company prices are as low as $4-$8 per hour. The limiting factor to wide adoption is the lack of broadly competent AI.

I remember seeing a Video about Nividea training robots in a virtual environment for example solving a rubics cube - the robot than can reproduce the result in the real world. The time to train the robot could be nearly entirely eliminated in theorie.

A lot of people don't realize how many new job opportunities and better, safer working conditions that robotic's teleoperation or screen supervision will provide. For dozens of practical everyday workplace applications. In some uses, only a narrow range of basic low skilled or single specific sophisticated function can be performed autonomously. it's integrating existing tech with new applications of robotics like VR/RC robotic avatar by human's that's going to eliminate a lot of commuting, the risks of on-the-job injuries, contagious illness and workplace violence. Various kinds of remote tech are already in quiet use in some businesses. For instance, some fairly expensive and important heavy construction equipment is remote teleoperated from nearby or much farther away. The nice person who takes your drive through fast-food order at What a Burger might not be in the building. They outsource that to a call station mile's or even a state away. A young lady who was employed by Mcdonalds was placed in quarantine but was able to appear in uniform on her order screen from home via zoom. The Dawn Cafe in Tokyo employs disabled and disadvantaged people to teleoperate robotic avatar waiters from their homes. One all of the way from Australia. If employers don't want to remodel their businesses to provide a safer working environment, then let them order the robots. They'll still have to pay people to operate most of them. It's the only way that i would want to work in dangerous jobs like night desk clerk at a hotel, convenience stores or security patrol in an office complex or industrial park.

Thank You, Fantastic Company and Philosophy! My question is, Why are the Hands Still Restricted in Design' to Human Form _ ? There are better more capable design ways _ imo, ie' Add another Thumb 'opposite side' same hand - while keeping all the digits, the same length.

I want to see you integrate that with a LightWELD 1500 manually operated fiber laser welder from IPGphotonics. The handpiece sets the rate of travel with the wire feed, so you just need to teach it to position the nozzle and follow the weld seam at the rate that the handpiece wants to travel. I'm looking at ABB and FANUC for fiber laser welding integrations, but my parts are imprecise, and the difference in price for the welding and cutting lasers that we normally integrate with the big metal ABB arms is pretty big. It occurs to me that you should have a goal of training your robots to assemble more robots, and then assemble them at .5 scale, which will in turn assemble a .25 scale robot, and so on until you have one that can hold a wedding band like a hula hoop. Anyone ever tell you that your robot looks a bit like Twiki? I think it would be great if it looked more like Twiki. No reason not to give them all unique faces really. Make a werewolf and a xenomorph and a predator face here and there. Why not?

If the space humans eyes would be are not being used, I would like to see "eyes" made led matrix's and used to indicate where the robot is about to move, the same way you can with animals with eyeballs like us

Nice to finally see the precision paradigm replaced by a perception-based paradigm. Masks are psychologically effective. The lowest cost robot is not the one which is cheapest for humans to build but the one which can largely or entirely assemble its robot, especially if it's able to harvest, transport and process its own raw materials, assemble stamping presses, lathes, build the vehicles, harvest and store energy and other traditionally human work. As its capabilities increase, the cost of its manufacture decreases logarithmically.

All brought to you by the "FIGHT FOR 15". If human workers refuse to skill up to a "living wage" , and instead simply demand higher wages for performing low skilled tasks then companies will turn to these types of robots instead.

I'm sorry but this is the lamest waste of resources and time I've seen in demo mode. As a pioneer in AI this is a joke to me. AI is still so infantile and no one has a clue what the ramifications of implementation onto mainstream platforms are. Safety of this robot is not a factor. This robot can kill you, however, should the code and firmware fail.
