Jimmy - Love what you are doing! It is inspiring me to resurrect a couple of projects I have. BTW - I have a 1979 Sierra that had a high oil temp problem. Turned out that the wire connecting to the oil temp sending unit was a bad connection right there at the top of the engine. The issue only manifest itself at altitude. On the ground the oil temp went back to normal. What gave it away was how quickly the temp returned to normal. Too quick for it to be natural heat dissipation. My oil was likewise not showing any burning. Hope that helps. Oh yeah, anyone buying a Mouse type plane needs to join the BAC type club. Those guys are awesome.

Jimmy, you make the most unique questionable decisions of anyone I have ever come across. I really enjoy your videos because I love to fly, you make me laugh and you crack me up every time I watch one. Keep having fun making those "questionable decisions" and hopefully you'll make a profit on one of these projects. Do that pre-flight , kick those tires and can you give me a "Clear Prop"?

Jimmy, I really enjoy your videos. It great to see someone that wants to see planes fly and not used for parts or scrap. I’m a pilot and have owned a couple of airplanes and know the costs of parts and maintenance. Keep doing what you’re doing. We need more people to resurrect old airplanes and get the in flying condition. You asked for ideas on a paint job for your Lancair and it would look great in Red, White, and Blue American Flag style.

suggestion. Since the Lancair is "Experimental" and you can do pretty much whatever you want, I wonder if it might be possible to tint part of the canopy so it isn't such a tanning bed.

Jimmy, I'm not sure what the avionics budget is going to be for the Lancair (you can spend BIG $$ quickly here) but Dynon makes a good primary display for Experimental a/c you might look at. Their Skyview panel includes attitude indicator with airspeed and altitude tape displays while including engine gauge displays in one unit. Also included is an HSI and topographical terrain display. As far as the paint scheme goes, a black & white checkerboard on the nose and/or tail would look cool while having one or two color swirly stripes going down the sides.

Some years ago, I visited Pilatus Aircraft in Switzerland. They provide job experience for local students and the art students usually go to the paint shop. Some customers haven't given much thought about what colour scheme they want their aeroplane and many striking designs by the students ended up on real aircraft.

Jimmy, PLEASE find a hanger ASAP for that Lancair!!! I know the cover helps, but that airplane is much too nice to be living outside! Love the vids, great work sir!

Engine swapping the 310 sounds like an absolutely awesome idea if it's possible.

On the tail of the Lancair you should take the character from a Monopoly card where the old guy is holding out empty pockets and the card reads "Forfeit $200." And, do not take anything from the Aztec for the 310 #scrapthe310.

IO 540A is a bullet proof engine except the cam does not sit in the oil. Cam guard and fly it often and you won’t be disappointed with the engines. I have, a 1960 Aztec. Works good, lasts a long time, mostly doesn’t cost a lot of money, except sometimes….. I’m still working on the cheap 340. So far so good. Go Jimmy!!! You are an inspiration to all of us suckers who love an underdog.

I went to school for aircraft maintenance yet somehow ended up in real estate. Watching your videos gives me the itch to get back into aviation and get that pilots license I never finished getting. Even if it’s just the recreational to suffice my flying urges ;)

I bought an Ercoupe 2;years ago and I haven't gotten to fly it yet. Granted I knew it was 5 years out of annual, and it needed stuff but 2 years later, I am getting excited about flying it.

On that prop that won’t give rpm, I’ve found many times that carefully working the prop with a couple of paddles may free it up. You move it slightly to coarse and then place a firm twist against fine stop. My prop shop said it won’t hurt it. Anyway it worked about 70% of the time … on a small prop which which uses oil pressure to coarse. All assuming gov is fine.

Racing stripes, I race Sprint cars and has a big wing on it, it flies sometime but the landing hurts lol. Love the videos keep them coming!

Jimmy- Cameron needs a couple things... I’m only a PPG pilot, so my opinions are not to imply I’m The Red Barron, that would be BA though. I love your videos, and have a couple of ideas to some of your request for them mechanical, paint scheme etc 1. Add A third screw switch on outer edge the MicroSwitch for the landing gear, locate it on the outside of the switch opposite of the Activation lever, as a redundant, if it ever loosens again? It cannot move away form the gear arm even if screws Loosen. 2. Cameron Paint Scheme : can you do a Vinyl Wrap? Either way, paint : Shark skin gray with black and light gray or silver stripes Wrap, if allowed: light gray or silver Carbon Fiber all the way, with a Black Circled number 33 for the year they ended prohibition... 3. What’s Thomas Worth? Giddy Up, Baf

Pressure Carbs were pretty successful. During WWII, the Spitfire originally had a traditional carburetor with a float bowl. Unfortunately this would cause problems during negative g manuvers as the gasoline would be thrown away from the ports that lead to the venturi and cause the float to close off the fuel bowl valve. This would starve the engine of fuel causing a loss of power, something you wouldn't want to happen during a dogfight. Positive g manuvers were difficult too as the opposite would occur causing the engine to run too rich, potentially stalling the engine and sometimes making restarting impossible. Pressure carburetors don't need gravity to function so they will work fine in any orientation.

For some reason I think the Lancair would look pretty cool in the old black and white Air Force trainer livery, like the one they used on the T-37. It'd save the trouble of painting half the plane too lol.

Gliding is my sport !!! Any power pilot who has not yet had a go in a sail plane......DO IT !! Most pure form of flying and no noisy fan up front! A self launching glider like an Arcus M is an awesome machine. Here in North Wales we often fly the wave up to FL195 (with oxygen)

I think composite aircraft hate prolonged exposure to UV, so you should probably get something to cover all of the plane with.

For Cameron wrap him in sliver / chrome colour. Your channel is the best please never change.

Hey Jimmy, I have been following you since the beginning. I’m a frustrated pilot and get my kicks now vicariously through you and others. When I was younger my career goals were to be a commercial pilot. I learned to fly, soloing in Piper Cubs then Cessnas. But, I was not able to get jet training in the Air force. Back then, airlines pretty much required one to have jet training before hiring, so I quit flying and went to law school. I’m curious as to the type of work you do or did before flying. I’m a retired Palm Beach County Prosecutor and Judge.

Jimmy, I have often wondered why pilots like yourself (flying these plains with so many items that need replacing) do not carry an extra handheld radio for contacting control centers if the main radio goes out? What are your thoughts? Felix

Hey Jimmy Tampa local here! Recently found your channel and absolutely love the content and planes! Cameron looks like a mini P51 to me. Wrap it like a P51 with maybe a pin up girl on the side named “Cameron” very cool plane man!

Going on 50 year old memory here, I remember being involved in a AD on the main gear retract linkage on the 310s that was logged as complete but wasn't. The only way to check is to remove the over center linkage & verify the bushing called out to be installed in the AD was installed.

Thanks for a look at the Lance 235. I'd put a Tarsier holding a Snap on wrench on the vertical stab. Maybe a small but cool font text of Tarsier on the cowl. I'd probably place a small stuffy Tarsier on too of the panel, set the idle down and leave it be.

When you do your panel, look into redoing the gear handle and light cluster, to a more traditional modern look. Will help when you fly that after you are flying the other certificated aircraft..
