Tour of Stops of the Walcker Organ (1913) of the Grote Kerk in Wildervank, Netherlands. This Demo was played on the Gloria Klassik 230 using Hauptwerk and the free Sampleset made by D. Swama and J. Plaisier for virtual-organs.nl with some Reverb added in Hauptwerk.

Es ist ungewöhnlich, in einer niederländischen Kirche eine deutsche romantische Orgel im symphonischen Stil zu haben. Ich sage aber . . . wie glücklich, dass sie so ein sehr schönes Instrument haben! Deiner Demonstration seines Potenzials war wie immer ausgezeichnet, Paul, und du hast dafür gesorgt, dass wir die Freuden aller Stopps auf diesem wunderbaren Instrument erleben konnten. BRAVO!

Well noticed, Graham. It is indeed quite rare. Another well known example is of course the Walcker organ in Doesburg, also sampled. I'm glad there is some variety in organs in my home country, besides the many baroque organs. ;)

The Synthematophone is a lovely stop. Very unusual. Almost all of them seem to have been lost. I only knew about the ones in Doesburg and Stockholm.

It is lovely! Is it a typical thing for the bigger instruments from Walcker? Ive never seen it from any other organ builders!

@@PaulFey It was invented by Walcker in 1906. Wide scale, conical pipes, double languids, often on high pressure. The original purpose was to create a powerful diapason, three to five times the power of a regular diapason. I'm not quite sure if that goal was achieved as the descriptions of the actual sound seems to vary. Sometimes they are described as flutes, sometimes as loud gambas, but rarely as diapasons. It's difficult to know. The diapason loudness war of the time saw all sorts of peculiar solutions, either using brute force with enormous pressures, or in more sophisticated examples, conical (inverted or regular) pipes and double languids. Henry Willis eventually came to the conclusion that loud diapasons always become too fluty. That's probably right. The Synthematophon was found in most of Walcker's really big ones, Hamburg, Dortmund, Barcelona, Stockholm, and the infamous opus 2500. Only Doesburg and Stockholm are still extant. This example is obviously more diminutive. Probably a similar double languid construction, but certainly not a high pressure monster. Seems like a sensible adaptation of the big version.

Hallo Herr Fey, welche Hardware (Laptop) verwenden Sie zur Wiedergabe von HW-Samples hinsichtlich RAM, SDD, Prozessor, Audio? Kommt zusätzliche Hardware oder Software zu Klangbearbeitung zum Einsatz?

Hallo Herr Ens, mein Laptop hat einen i7, 32GB RAM, eine 256 GB SSD für Windows und noch einmal 1000 GB für Hauptwerk. Der Sound wird bei den Orgelvorstellungen nicht nachbearbeitet. Evtl. ist etwas Nachhall in HW hinzugefügt, aber das weise ich normalerweise in der Videobeschreibung aus.

@@PaulFey Hallo Herr Fey, bedanke mich für die schnelle Antwort, vermutlich wird man bei 32GB RAM ein wenig Einschränkungen hinsichtlich der - seitens der Orgelsamples - angebotenen Klangqualität hinnehmen müssen, d.h. nicht das Optimum zu erhalten. Dennoch ist die Audiowiedergabe Ihrer "Tour of Stops" überzeugend.
