Thank you so much Grand Canyon Reefs for the frag of Little Shop of Horror zoas. They are my favorite zoas along with rastas. I couldn't be happier at how similar, yet different how these corals are. Make sure you subscribe to win your own frag of Little Shop of horror zoas, you won't regret it. Even better, ask grand Canyon Reefs how much if you are worried the polyps won't be available in the future. Great addition to any reef. A must have polyp for sure. So far everyone who has seen my zoas, they love LSoH zoas more than rastas.

Totally agree with u on the space for hanging ATO pumps or my Nero 3 wave pump. I found these long slim zip lock bags to drop the magnets in and slide them down the sides which Barkley fit but do manage to slide them down in the zip lock bag hold them imposition till I can get the matting side secured. But I do agree sump works well!!

You have so many nice corrals. I also have a RedSea 350 G2 that I started almost 9 months ago and first it started great, I had a galore of euphylia, some scans and lobos, but many things went bad for me. Corals just started dying and I am still trying to figure out the cause of it. I wanted to ask how do you experience the whole thing with the varying water level of these tanks. I changed my valve with a gate valve and this did not solve the problem, it works almost identically to the new red valve we got the tank with. I am thinking of everything and cannot find the cause of this varying water level. Changed the return pump, because first I got a cheap one, now I am with Vectra and this doesn't solve the problem. Could it be the roller mat, I don't know? How do you cope with that issue?
@grandcanyonreefs
@grandcanyonreefs Год назад
Thanks! And damn sorry to hear that, bunch of water changes and ICP testing to get the tank back on track? And I’m still not sure why the water changes so much as well, I’m assuming some combination of the overflow setup, plumbing, and valve :( As of now, I run my overflow very low (which is a little noisy but not too bad) and then when the water level changes frequently, it doesn’t change enough of the sump to actually affect anything (cause most of the water level change will happen in the overflow itself).
@grandcanyonreefs
@grandcanyonreefs Год назад
That’s the only solution i’ve found as of now and it’s not really a solution because it makes the tank more noisy lol!

Just reduce the air slightly to the skimmer and then readjust the water level to get the skimmate you like. You are getting too much air flow for the diameter of the skimmers neck and that is carrying spray through the skimmer neck, from the bubbles popping, to the recirculation. By reducing the air flow slightly you should see most of this issue stop.
@grandcanyonreefs
@grandcanyonreefs Год назад
That’s makes a lot of sense! I’ll give it a shot this week and let you know how it goes! Thanks so much!
@DoYouEvenFishTank
@DoYouEvenFishTank Год назад
@@grandcanyonreefs Have a look at how an oil catch can works for a performance car, there needs to be some baffles in the skimmer "catch can" to allow the moist air to change in pressure and direction sharply to leave the moisture behind on the baffles to collect in bottom of catch can. Much of what old mate sells has little understanding of what he is doing, a catch can is not the way to do it in the first place as this is a suction line not a pressure line......

Thinking of ordering the reefer 350 g2+ myself, i hear a few people dont like the valve would you recommend changing it for a better one?
@grandcanyonreefs
@grandcanyonreefs Год назад
I’ve heard about an upgraded valve as well, would definitely recommend installing it before setting the tank up to make it easier, but I don’t have much experience with the upgraded valve. Definitely interested in hearing from others experiences!
@BlazedReefer
@BlazedReefer Год назад
@@grandcanyonreefs I'm placing my order today so I'll probably order a Union valve to swap out for there dial . Ive heard others say its spot on so maybe just hit and miss .. either way im sure il enjoy the tank and i already have all my equipment including clarisea gen3 roller but may send it back for the reefmat

@MW-ut3dk
@MW-ut3dk Год назад
Really can’t understand why Red Sea refuses to use a standard gate valve- I went with Waterbox Frag just because of that terrible valve. I never need to adjust the valve after dialing it in. Not like Red Sea isn’t aware of this key issue🙄
@grandcanyonreefs
@grandcanyonreefs Год назад
I agree! They fixed the problem with the G1, just to create another problem with the G2 lol
@BlazedReefer
@BlazedReefer Год назад
Is the valve easy to change for a better one if this is the only flaw as i prefer the sump layout over waterbox (plus i already have a roller ready for my new tank to be)

@@grandcanyonreefs Thanks for the quick response and great content! One last question. I'm looking at purchasing a new red sea reefer 425 G2+. The only negative think I hear about the red sea tanks is sometimes the seals along the glass fails and the tank leaks. Is this exclusive with red sea? For the price of their tank I would expect it to not fail. Or is this just a risk with any tank. I think the way people clean their glass could be a reason but who knows. Have you ever experienced a tank failure either directly or indirectly?
@grandcanyonreefs
@grandcanyonreefs Год назад
Thanks for the support! And the first gen Red Sea tanks that were over 5 feet long definitely had some seal issues! But to my knowledge, in the 14 months the G2+ have been out, there hasn’t been any leak or seal issues! And making sure the tank is 100% level and staying away from the edges with blades is smart to do with any tank manufacturer!

I believe your roller mat is not installed properly. It’s not supposed to go straight through but rather down through the fleece and up over the top
@grandcanyonreefs
@grandcanyonreefs Год назад
Not sure what you mean? It’s been working flawless for about 8 months now!
@geoffhunt7965
@geoffhunt7965 Год назад
@@grandcanyonreefs As water comes in one side it is supposed to stay within that area and not have the other end open. as the water comes in the one side it is necessarily forced through the fleece material and as it gets dirty that causes the water level within the reef mat to rise and that causes sensor to release more mat fleece. A back up heater is also advised.
@grandcanyonreefs
@grandcanyonreefs Год назад
My water does stay within the basket! It enters via the black tubing and stays in the basket until it disperses through the fleece!
@grandcanyonreefs
@grandcanyonreefs Год назад
And I only have 1 heater cause I’m in Arizona and keep my house rather hot. The heater only turns on a few days a year in the winter according to my Apex! And the heater is plugged into an Inkbird and then my Apex for double redundancy! My tank actually has an fan for evaporation on the top that runs 24/7 and I still have chiller that turns on a few weeks in the summer, so no need for 2 heaters that would barely be used! #azproblems 😂😂
