This is very creative. I've been watching these cargo trailer conversion videos for the past two years, and have designed a bunch of floor plans myself centered mostly around 6x10, 6x12, and 7x14 sizes for when/if I build my own. I have never seen nor never once thought of making a bed like that. That opens up many possibilities
I like how he did his cargo trailer. Loved the pictures of his dog's. I have camphosted, I loved it. I met some wonderful people I still am in contact with today
Lex is an editing genius. I was thinking about my ramblings and wondered if she could ever put together a video that made sense. And BTW, Lex and Riot are the real deal. Kind, friendly, and real. I’m truly fortunate to have met them.
I’m loving your build, I have a few years until I hit the road, well as in retired. I’m a truck driver who lives out of my Kenworth. Planning on doing something just like you and Lex have done. I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your home and hats off to an ingenious built, I believe you are a genius!
I love your build Dan. How did you get the bolts in for the other bar holder on the door? I purchased on too...I just don't know how it's bolted to the trailer rib. Thank you so much for the additional ideas for my conversion :-)
@@sarah_n_tank_girl I screwed mine to the frame. It is inline with the row of screws that run vertically. I actually removed one of the screws and used that hole and added one more screw below it. It’s not as strong as bolts, but this is not intended to keep the door shut. It’s just to keep opportunists away.
Why didn't you show the shower pan where the drain could be seen ??The build is really nice and the build only being 12x6 i was interested😂 how he installed hes shower pan and drain..😂😂
I loved this interview! No swear words necessary. I like his slide window covers, his rods, made of electrical conduit rather than purchased shower rods to save $ and be a lot stronger. The water jug system is genius. The way he thought to refill his gas bottles to again, save $$. And most of all I love how respectful he is to you and his gorgeous dog! Keep it up, please Lex.
Yes! I was watching this thinking of what a contrast in "vibe" (for lack of a better term) between the last fella she interviewed and this one. Dan is inspiring!
@@bryant8635 Yes, so you felt it too. I especially liked that how was respectful to Lex and her followers. Although she didn't seem to be upset by the last guy so I'm not trying to be judgmental. To each his own. I love her though, she's just a little younger than my youngest daughter so I guess the protective Mama in me kicks in.
Wow. It's amazing how much he has in the trailer, but it doesn't seem too crowded. Great build Dan. You're right, when you build it yourself you get exactly what you want and need.
WOOT WOOT! Dan is a genius! I love the interviews and tours Lex. :-) What a sweetheart couple Dan and Jill are rescuing all the dogs. Dakota is beautiful! And I love that he has big pictures of his pack, he must miss them a lot. Jill wanting him to follow his dreams says a lot about her and their marriage. He had sooooo many excellent solutions. I agree, Amazon should pay him ;-) Thank you for brightening our day Lex and hugs to Riot. :-)
Dan Dan The Superman He's got a cargo Not a van A chance meeting At the laundry mat One of those moments Where you just chat Listen to Lex See what to do She can teach a lot And learn a lot too
Them windows covers are great, im surprised when asked what he liked about living in the trailer he didn't say it's like a tree fort for big kids lol. If he doesn't have it in that trailer you don't need it, great build!!
Hi Lex!!!!! Hope you're having a good day and staying cool. When I start my nomad life, I hope I can see you around. I'm really enjoying your set up with truck and trailer. Hoping for something similar.
I seriously think you should add an awning to your access side of your trailer it will increase your outdoor living space, it protects you from the elements and you can cook/visit outside without anyone actually entering your interior space.
I saw a video somewhere, can’t remember what channel but they showed a awning from Maxi Trac from Napa (the auto store) for $100. Now I know it’s Chinese junk but it really wasn’t that bad.
For our awnings, we acquired canvas tarps from our local-owned home-improvement center. We mated the brass grommets to the exterior back-side of the 'Eye-bolts' and bolts we use to secure our interior furniture.
Lex, Have watched for 2 years.... never have commented.... But this build & tour.... Wow... deserves an Emmy award... you drew out the very questions on my mind... thank you so much-loved... Michael
Wow! Dan should definitely be sponsored by Amazon. We are firm believers in simple systems. The rods, mixing pan, oil tank, propane bottle holders, the list goes on and on. Awesome. This video is definitely going in our YT library. We really enjoy channels with mixed content. Thank you! ~ Mark & Teresa
Lex, thank you for presenting Dan's CTC. I really like this guy! I think between the two of us, we will keep Bezos rich. The extent of my social life, of late, is meeting FedEx and UPS drivers bring all the Amazon stuff. LOL
Okee dokee! I'm off to copy that water system! Exactly what I had been thinking about, not completely figured out! Now I need to buy a trailer. HAHAHA! Nice people, nice interview, the folks hope to meet on our travels.
Wish you had a link to his $100 water heater. Told my son, I'm building a handicap rig. Your other video of gentleman building a teardrop was helpful to me!
I was glad to see a "HAM" Radio mounted in the camper. I have one in mine and I was wondering if any other Ham's had done Cargo trailer Conversions. Loved the set up.
Well now, it looks like I may have to do some "upgrades" to my 6X12 V- nose cargo trailer. Lots of innovative ideas floating around in my head now. Thank you Lex, that was a great job. ; )
Dan is one cool guy, and that is because he isnt trying to be cool ! Very creative and intelligent solutions.. He has figured out the most important thing.. RV labeled stuff if Rip Off Priced Junk... . Big Thumbs up.
I really enjoyed this tour. He was super energetic about his build and I really enjoyed the fact that he did it on the budget with everyday items. Plus he has a awesome dog!
Lex, thank you for the tour. Dan's build is just full of brilliant practical features. Dan I wish you happy travels! And one more thing; Lex you are a fabulous speaker without adding "like" to every sentence! Thank you!
Your best tour yet! I’m going to watch this over and over for ideas on my eventual build. My problem with these tour videos, is well, there great but I tune in for you and your quirky life on the road, so when a week goes by and you drop a tour it’s a letdown for sure that’s all. So make the tours a bonus video and not your only one for the week. Who’s with me on this?
Hey Lex! 🤗 Thank you so much for sharing this tour! I love the simplicity of this! 💞 Love the idea of the narrower kitchen and the shower in the back is nice with hot water! Also love the barn door style (I think that's what those are called?!) back doors! Love the sliding window covers and the great use of space overall! 👉I would love to see a skylight in one of these! 😍 Well done! -Marshall 🎸
Kudos to Dan! I was planning on making a shower drain from a mixing tub. I use 3 in my yard to catch rain from the gutter downspouts and a dozen with a hole drilled in the bottom center for my raised garden beds. I have not had to use city water on my garden in over a year because we get plenty of rain that I have saved.
Thanks for another great video! I would enjoy some rig tours in addition to your regular videos. I do have a suggestion- When he was inside talking about the pan/tub in his shower it would have been nice to have the camera pointed at the area he was talking about. Thanks Again.
Looks like Dan has a great build, the only thing I would have to change though would be to add a bit more color. I like the grey, but my eyeballs would start to revolt after a bit.
Great video.... I'm going to use at least two of his ideas: the bicycle sprocket stove top, and the oil change tank for grey water. Also liked his water tank set up. Yup, he wins the "Best Use Of Space" Award.... thanks Lex!!
What a great setup Dan has! So many great things - I'm going to save this video as a reference for my future build. Thanks for sharing this, Lex & Riot!
I loved watching this tour. When you feature another nomad it’s the combination of seeing the rig and hearing their story that makes the video so enjoyable.
The gentleman featured here should sign up to be an Amazon Associate. If he has a channel or website that is. He can earn a bit of commission. And I LOVE his build!! It seems really roomy and cozy and he has everything one needs in a home! He is very smart and personable too. Lots of ingenuity - one of my favorite builds ever!
That's a great build. I think my favorite part is the sliding window covers with the option of shoving extra insulation behind them. As far as what you may do to your rig (you asked), It looks like Dan made his own awning. I'd like more detail on that and maybe you would enjoy having that when you're stationary for a bit.
Thank you so much, Lex, for introducing us to Mr. Dan. I think I, myself, would follow Dans build. It does work to refill the little bottles from a 20 lb bottle. Just don’t exceed the small bottle weight. Love and respect to you guys.
As always ...great video!!! I loved the tour, Dan did a great job on the build. To be honest I enjoy listening to you and seeing Riot so much I would probably give you a thumbs up if all you did was sit there and pet Riot for 20 min. 🤗
How is the shower heater vented? I want to have one but that is a question i have about that. GREATjob Lex, very good quality presentation. He has a great set up.
It is not externally vented. I only run with my windows open and my vent fan on. I have a carbon monoxide detector as well. These units burn about the same amount of propane as a camp stove.
Dan is such a lovely man and so creative with his cargo trailer build! Lex, I really appreciate you posting videos of rigs that you come across. I’m sure most people are pleased to share them with you. I like the simplicity of yours but it’s fun to see other interesting solutions to living in a small space.
