i needed to replace clock spring on my 2013 Tiguan and i called local VW dealer for parts and what it would cost for them to program it after i install the part. This doesn't happen often but got great news....vw dealer advised that parts and labor to replace the clock spring is 100% covered by the dealer. so i called another dealer to verify they told me the same ( i scheduled an appointment for 01/03, i told this will take half day) . They advised that the clock spring warranty has been extended. this was a nice surprise. please check with your dealership prior to purchasing and replacing your clock spring. they said that as long as your mileage is lower than 999,999 you are covered. that's what their warranty shows. basically all cars are covered.
I have Skoda Octavia2 Facelift(Superb). I have problem with airbag light error, horn is dysfunctional, ster.wh.buttons also disfunct, wipers back too. I believe, this is the issue, and this video can helps.
I do as you describe in the video but I can't get the airbag loose. I have checked with the camera on my phone a number of times that I undo the locking mechanism correctly but I can not get the airbag loose. I'm pulling on it like crazy and my fingers hurt.
You have to pull the airbag when releasing the first spring. Airbag releases a bit. When turning the steering wheel 180 degrees be sure the spring don't go back to its original place. when released the second spring, you have to pull both sides of the airbag. If you pull only from one side, the spring will lock the other side.
At first you have to upload The settings of The old Click Spring. After you have Made The change, you need to download The settings. After that you have to adjust and centralize The steering wheel Via OBD reader. Not all OBD readers can do that. We used VCDS diagnose program.

Live airbag can be lethal and wrong assembly may damage your car" And then you show all the disassembly of the airbag unit WITHOUT disconnecting the battery!! After disconnecting it is recommended to wait 30mins to start with disassembling the unit and also you should mention to ground yourself electrically before! And it is not done to change the unit as you show. All the warning lights in the MFU will still be active and can not be cleared. The new (or other used unit) has to be coded in the control unit. So you either have to read out the serial number/coding of the old unit before dismantling odr you program the new/actual code into the control unit. And also the steering angle has to be coded in another control unit.... Therefore you need VCDS or another coding tool. But the video is helpful anyway, good video quality.
1) Before removing the faulty clockspring, connect VCDS or other similar tool and write down the coding of the old part (Unit 16). You will need to program it to the new one in order to get the steering wheel buttons working. 2) With your steering wheel centered do all the mechanical work as in the video. 3) After turning the ignition on, there will be plenty of ridiculous errors in many units (ABS, ESP, ASR, steering assist...). Try to clear them. Then set the coding of the new unit 16. 4) Perform Sensor for Steering Angle (G85) basic setting procedure and continue Steering Limit Stop Adaptation in Unit 44 as described here: wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Steering_Assist. Note, that until you complete G85 basic setting the indicated steering angle will be alwas zero so this step really must be done first! 5) Clear the errors again and perform a test drive. Hopefully errors won't reappear.

@@ericsuper9723 Theoretically, this should be fine. But I would not do anything like this without a proper diagnostic tool handy anyway. By disconnecting the unit from power, you will loose the steering wheel limit settings like when you change the battery. This may or may not cause some other error codes.
@@ericsuper9723 if you can fix the original defective unit (repair of the spring cable) you don't need to code anything! It is a pure hardware repair and no electronics part change.
