Hi there . Yes the xt435 is now available with a glass tip. It is called the zulcron xt 435 GT . That is the rod i was using on the video. Any more information you need please give jay / maxine a shout Tight lines .

Thanks for your comment. I use the fixed spool really low feels very comfortable for me. Alot of northeast anglers use this style also now . Jay is carrying an injury atm hence the reel in high position so less strain on the said injury. There will be a part 2 to follow at a later date so keep your eyes peeled . Tight lines

@@thehartlepoolangler I will look forward to it. I used to seafish alot, then went back to fishing matches in puddles, so i'm looking to get back sea fishing. I'm just looking for a set up that won't break the bank. When i did fish i used a vintage 1969-1974 Mitchell 386 reel which a old angling friend gave me (RIP) as well as the left-handed 387 when i was about 12-13 which i've still got(right coffee grinders). They're in great condition for their age. I used those until 93-94 when i was 17-18. So i'm thinking about getting a Sonic 8000 reel, but not sure on what rod to get. I live on the south bank of the Humber so won't be fishing rough ground, just the North wall and the Lincolnshire coast and was looking at either a daiwa seahunter x ,Sonic black and a yuki A3/A4 plus if i can afford 1. Do you have any recommendations in the £80 to £140 range?

The reel you mention above is a good starting point for clean ground but they do not like any sort of mixed ground or any sort of lift with weight on with the coggs inside having a tendency to strip . My advice would be to buy a shimano / penn reel if you could . Maybe a shimano speedmaster or one of the shimano ultegra range . Penn wise maybe one of the penn battles would suit your fishing. They are a little more expensive than the sonicks but you get what you pay for so to speak . Rod wise the ones u mention again would do the job at hand . I have seen alot of people using the sonik black on a budget and they have been ok . Again aslong as your only fishing on clean ground this would suit great and be a decent start up rod . You could also have a look at the zulcron range of rods on the facebook page or website . They are priced a tad over your budget but are a quility rod and build . @@thehartlepoolangler I've looked at the ZULCRON's bit to expensive for my budget. I'm thinking about getting a Yuki A3 or A4 as i can get them for around £110-£130 (thats really pushing my limit) at the moment, i've seen a few people using them and they rate them as a good rod for clean ground I'm also keeping an eye on eBay as i've seen some nice bargains in the used section. I'll look for a better reel then if its not going to last more than a few years. I've had a look on AD they have the LEEDA Icon FXD 80FD going for £70, they were at £119 a few months ago. The Speedmaster's within my budget and i've got a few Shimano reels, never let me down. It won't be a while before i get anything as my brother (chauffeur, lol) snapped his ankle and split his shin from his ankle to his knee in February. He's very lucky not to have needed an operation, so got until June/July before he'll be driving again. I might have more spare cash then, so might be able to something better. Thanks for the advice.
