American writer and teacher Wendell Berry wrote a book some time ago, called "Culture and Agriculture: The Unsettling of America" which details the large-scale project to replace the individual family farm with agribusiness model "production." Berry has lived in rural KY his whole life, his family have been farmers for generations. Well worth a read. Was published by Sierra Club, back before they shifted to limhang and psyops, rather than pure ecological questions.

@@starkilr101 No I get that part. I just mean, why call anyone "conservative" if they're not conserving anything? I'm not in UK so I don't know how that label is used there. In USA, for most of my lifetime (born in 60s), political conservatives were more aligned with conserving principles. But over the past 20 yrs or so, it's come to mean "we oppose the Democrats, at least rhetorically" (if Republican) or "those soulless f*ck$ who don't do and say exactly as we do" (if not Republican). We don't have a Conservative Party. Among the populace, however, there are conservative-minded people who think the current Republican Party is not very conservative. My point is more that strictness ("you must do as we say!") is not a conservative position as much as it is an authoritarian one.

They basically just wag their finger and speak sternly not to do something. All bark, no bite. Which is why people, including disaffected liberals, followed Trump. Despite whatever personal feelings you as an individual or others may have towards him, he wasn’t just all talk. He did what he could where he could despite any political or personal shortcomings. @@starkilr101 Trump has been all talk since he was a boy. He was made a puppet of the crew who bailed him out when he crashed the commercial real estate business his dad left him. Been their mannequin ever since. That whole teevee show gig he had was arranged by them, to build him toward what he became in 2016. You'd have to ignore his actual executive actions over 4 years to assume he was anything but an all talk, no action guy. I would agree that in 2016 he ran the more populist voice of the GOP candidates. But his tenure was the very opposite of populist. Very elitist, very much in service to those who bailed him out some 40 years ago.

And the Jock needs technology to do the fighting.

Great Britain' colonization alone has caused the premature death of around 100 million people. Even tiny Belgium has caused the death of somewhere between 1.5 and 13 million Congolese people. And we're still killing the Congolese, because they have the greatest deposits of Cobalt, which is needed both in batteries and oil refining. Nestlé buys cocoa from Ghana and Ivory Coast where people are practically treated like slaves. Yes, we Europeans can give ourselves a big pat on our collective back because our culture is sooooo great.

That is what made him our greatest champion, and therefore, their public enemy number one.
