I just saw them on Sat 9 -7 24...in Chico ca. I've seen them ever since the beginning. A big Dan boy. They were tight and the groove was locked in.The sound was perfect..love this band..I've seen them multiple times , they always deliver !!!
I can't believe they had to fish for questions. Maybe the audience was just too star struck. These guys are my idols of my musical taste and history. I play guitar, but I enjoy and appreciate EVERY single instrument played in this band like I was a student for each one. Their arrangements are so creative that it must be a pleasure just to practice and play them. And I have always considered their funk as a cloth of weaves so tightly knitted with each other that it creates a mechanical pattern. Like gears working as one funk machine.
People who have never been on the road can't grasp the alure of it to those of us who have. The feeling of making an audience happy is addictive and makes the hardship of the road more than worth it. I was actually introduced to TOP by the trumpet player in a band I engineered with for just shy of a decade. I had always loved horn bands but TOP is, quite simply, on another level.
Me and my friends from our ROLLINGWOOD neighborhood, used to jump the fence at CONTRA COSTA COLLEGE and watch TOWER OF POWER rehearse.. BEFORE THEIR FIRST LP !!! Dewayne JACKSON & ARTY BARRON led the way..
This was an still is the real thing. There are a few bands hold on to them cuz there's not gonna be anything like this era Alot of the good people are gone too young 💔 So better hold on to the real 💯 old school and even the younger kids are going to be the stuff if they want to be the real thing listen and let them sink in
David said he originally had a different intro drum beat to this song. But it threw the band off. Wished David could’ve played that original beat. Although, this one is very cool
Ten times I saw this band over the years. From 1977... The best. However, in this video, never a word about Dave Garibaldi. Hello? Without him, ToP would be, well, just another band with horns. Garibaldi defined everything about the band. Just view the shows without him. Even more when they had Chester, and Francis Rocco Prestia, and Bruce Conte. However, they didn't even mention DG, and he's there. Just sayin'.
