Love seeing this side of you. I believe that very often behind a huge luxury wardrobe is someone trying to fill the void inside themselves.. And this can never be filled because there's always a new bag coming out

In the past I used to love the huge closets and unboxing videos. Now I find it shallow. When I see Birkin everywhere online it lost exclusivity in my eyes. I still love nice clothes but I stopped shopping from boredom. When you are happy with where you are in your life you don't need to prove yourself.

I went one round of that & decided to slow down drastically in purchases to truly enjoy what I have. Donate/ sell items we don't need. My rule this year is not to buy any new clothes😂

I had to move from France back to my home country after 8 years and all I could take was a large suitcase and a carry on. I never realised how much unnecessary stuff we accumulate. I totally get what you mean because I honestly now feel like I could get rid of even more stuff and it makes me happy to have fewer possessions.

A year ago I set a new goal, it is to reduce the number of things, I used to buy 10 clothes a month and it was too much, I noticed that this is a habit, I had to give myself the "right" to buy 3 things at first, then it got better and better, I started selling unnecessary things on Vinted, I managed to sell more than 70 pieces :) This year January-March 24 I bought only 3 clothes! Now freeing myself from things gives me freedom, there are still a lot of things, but the process of purging closets helps me feel better, I recommend it, dear Ladies, BR

the theology of enough. I love the concept. can you tell me more about it?
@ttephi3667
@ttephi3667 3 месяца назад
@@DJWNB Hi, my understanding is that it means being satisfied with sufficiency as opposed to excessiveness. It's a bit like the Economics Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility in which there is an optimal consumption level that yields the greatest satisfaction but adding extra units of consumption of the good, causes a decrease in satisfaction. There is nothing wrong with material things for we are living in the 3rd dimension of matter. I think as we evolve spiritually, material things don't seem to hold as much importance anymore. I found this very good definition on the Net for you of the Theology of Enough: It means sufficiency, not less than required quantity, not what is more than needed, excessive, and profligate. Best wishes...

Whoever wants the luxury items and can afford them good for them, however I cannot justify tens of thousands spent on a bag when there are other good quality and original options, instead of wearing a uniform. I think you can look stylish as long as you buy a good fit and fabric in clothes, a good quality leather bag that is different and it is your style. Great video! It comes a time when we all realize that our dream to own luxury is short lived and doesn't really fulfill us.

This is by far your best video! And I am happy for you that you realized that Ana. I remember going to the Galeries Lafayette during whole days, buying so many things (I was going through depression and loneliness) and coming back home with the bags on the floor… looking at them was just making me sadder. I had always dreamed of being able to buy quality clothes, enjoying days like these ones, they were dream days honestly - eating in restaurant ; but at the end, I had all I ever wanted but still no one to discuss anything with… I would look at my bank account several times a day as money was my forever goal… but all the money couldn’t bring me a friend, a boyfriend or anyone to show some affection/love. Therefore, I can definitely say that happiness is everywhere but in material things. Self confidence and love are what needs to be fight for.

I used to binge watch closet tours and handbag collections - living vicariously through each person video by video, until one day, those videos I used to love, started to become nauseating and concerning. I went from thinking “oh man, I wish I had these things.” To thinking, “wow, what compels someone to buy so much stuff for exorbitant prices? I wonder what they’re compensating for.” Sure, some people just love fashion, but when you start treating handbags like a new born child because you’re scared to scratch it, I think there’s a problem.

I'm inspired of Japanese people and their minimalist, respectful, grateful culture. Values and principles. I'm sick and tired looking at people who are seeking for useless and excessive items, external image, luxury, perfect style, fortune, blah blah blah.. Noone brings any of those with them at the end. What matters is inner beauty, peace of mind and soul, serenity, gratitude.. That's what attracts and inspires.

I think we shop our dreams. We visualize ourselves at parties and events and we shop really gorgeous items that in reality we will hardly wear. Our personal lives are not exciting enough and so we shop to clothe our dream lives. if we analyze our REAL lives, we live 50% in work clothes and 49% in home/relaxed clothes. ONE percent is probably that glitzy event that we attend once a year.... but we still shop for it and about 30% of our clothes reflect that. Ladies, shop for your reality and you will wear all of your clothes and like Anna said, MAKE SURE YOU REALLY, REALLY LOVE EACH PIECE... or don't buy it.

Dear Anna - It's called maturity ! Mature not frumpy ! I too am wearing more of my old clothes, they are better made, better fabric and bring back happy memories. Now and again I add a signature piece that I like to pinpoint an era, but that is all. I love your shirt-waister dress, hat, as well as your pink sheath dress. How timeless are they? Keep going. Best wishes, Swan 🦢😄

Often, an obsession with name brands hints at underlying insecurities, with individuals seeking external validation to fill internal voids. By fixating on material possessions, they attempt to mask feelings of inadequacy, striving to project an image of success and worth. However, true self-esteem stems from internal validation and self-acceptance, not external markers of status. Glad you finally woke up.

@@BlackBeauty-yl8uqMy mom came from a poor family too.. When she immigrated to Canada, she became obsessed with wearing name brands and Diana Ross. She looked a bit like her. I never bonded with her because I could not relate to relate to the superficial material world she was obsessed with. When she died it took me over three months to get rid of her wardrobe. It was ridiculous. You are lucky down sizing makes you happy. For many woman though, the obsession with name brands is a real sign of mental health issues that need to be addressed. They think material things will compensate for their lack of self-worth and so they go overboard spending too much money on things they don't need just to keep up with luxury influencers, the Kardashians or in my mother's case Diana Ross.

As I said in an earlier comment, I don't have that level of wealth, however as I look back on the bags and bags of stuff I've given away, (because it isn't so valuable that I could resell it really, so it gets donated)... but if I had saved and bought one beautiful piece of clothing that was made to last instead of a bunch (my closets are bursting)of "sale" items I never wear I'd have been better off. I think she was doing the same thing as probably most of us do but on a different scale. The difference is she can make her money back. My stuff goes to Good Will, so it's quite a waste.

The pressure to impress others is amazing! I see others buying a style or purse in every color available. Same with shoes. I hit retirement and did a very honest assessment of what I need in clothes and shoes moving forward vs what I needed when working and going into the office. I realized that more than half of my wardrobe was now useless to me. It was actually very liberating to be able to let go of so much stuff and refocus my lifestyle to a simpler life.

You are wising up. Those of us who are older and more mature learned early on what really matters in life. When you see those you love come down with deadly illnesses and pass away from them. When you lose your parents and the world is entirely a different place. When you realize how few years you have left in this world to make a difference. Each of these things and more changes your perspective. Thank your for creating this content for younger women to learn from and not be so caught up in materialism and comparism. Most of us who are past 40, recognize the real things in this life - family, love, a nest egg financially to provide for your retirement/health needs later in life, a purpose in your community and in life...these are the intangible things that cannot be purchased and are worth more than any material object.

Important video 👏🏼👏🏼 You too said it in this video: it’s not so much about how much you have or don’t have or buy, it’s more about if it’s you own decision and really what you want and makes you feel good. My own opinion is: I have less a problem with huge wardrobes than I have with glitz and glam, trash and terrible style. It always bothered me if a person buys things just because someone did it or someone else says it. I mean, it’s pretty human, we always did that. But if we want to grow and become more mature, more adult and a better version of ourselves, I think we should ask us at some time “is this really what I want or do I just copy something that I saw somewhere?” I live in Milan and Switzerland and I’m traveling a lot. What really bothers me personally is when people just follow some fashions and don’t follow their own individuality. I don’t like sloppy styles or incoherence. I truly enjoy Italian sprezzatura. I learned a lot from Italian and French culture and am eternally grateful for that. I have another point: If we look a little bit back, having huge wardrobes with a lot of clothes is not really a modern phenomenon. Marella Agnelli, Jackie Kennedy and Mona von Bismarck all ordered at one point or another several hundereds (!) of beautiful long dresses from Balenciaga, in one single order! I think that soooo many people have some kinds of collections. I don’t really think it’s a problem if someone wants to have a fashion collection or collect bags. I mean, other people collect art, ceramics, furniture, or whatever. But again: I think if it’s a personal decision it can be ok, if it’s just because someone else does it, it becomes ridiculous or even tragic if someone maybe cannot even afford it.. It can also be that at some point you like it more minimal, at another point you love it more maximal. It could also be that you truly enjoy shopping, but at some point maybe it feels too heavy and you want to give the things away or you start a museum at some point. Like Lagerfeld said after getting rid of his rococo furniture collection: getting the things is awesome, but having it is terrible. Or Elizabeth Taylor: It’s not the having, it’s the getting. I have really nothing against luxury brands. I truly enjoy the quality of Gianvito Rossi, I love the creativity of Manolo Blahnik, I love the Fendi peekaboo, the quality of luxury leather, wearing comfy cashmere or cashmere-silk blends, I LOVE comfort and beautiful quality. I mean money is so much about that: comfort, service, joy. I love Italian high-end furniture, driving Mercedes, I love the high quality of a Rolls Royce and their hard work in creating personal details, I love enjoying all the high quality, service and art that money can buy. But it makes me so sad when people don’t appreciate the quality or artisanship, the genius sometimes in the wonderfully created objects. I always loved the artistic and cultural aspect of our luxury brands in Europe. I am 30 right now, I follow your content for years now Anna and I continue my beautiful journey. I leveled up a lot, learned a lot and did a lot, I think you do a great job for our new generations of elegant ladies, from a wonderful European standpoint. I’m happy for you and your personal transformation. If I would say something to my younger self or some younger lady who wants to level up and do her own process/transformation: find your own way, you DO YOU, ask yourself what you really want and enjoy doing you. When I look around in the major European cities, what I really would like to see more is: personal style, more cure in our fashion choices, clothes that fit better, colors that fit better, people who put more individuality, culture, knowledge, know-how in how they dress. If I had to concentrate your teachings and my point of view in one sentence, to give some advice to a younger lady: how you choose and act in life is a result of your thoughts, beliefs, culture and knowledge. Don’t focus on your wardrobe, on your shoes or on outer things. Focus on what you have inside, on your education, on your knowledge, on philosophy, psychology and culture in general. Do less TikTok and more reading and writing. Listen to people you truly respect. Get some cultural, artistic, classical inspiration. Find out who you are and what you want. With this background you will assemble your wardrobe in the correct way and you will make the right decisions about everything else important in your life. I hope this message gets through to someone who can appreciate it ❤ with love

Now Im going to try a no buy clothing, bags or shoes for 3 months. I grew up without a lot so when I had money I spent it on stuff that I had always wanted. I had to self reflect and ask myself why I was buying so much. It came down to loneliness. Now Im going to be content with what I have and see what different outfits that I can come up with. I know I have enough of everything to do this for at least 90 days. Wish me luck. Great video Anna, it showed up at just the right time for me.

I completely agree with the point of weak sense of ourselves. In certain way it sure does give people a validation either that they ,,made it”, they are rich enough, can relate to other successful women, etc. Ultimately it comes to the point that more doesn’t equal better, more stuff doesn’t mean you are richer or more successful, but unfortunately that’s how it s been presented, especially because celebrities some of us look up to do have those mega closets. It represents the status of a wealthy successful woman for a lot of people. It is sad that in reality it is just hoarding and waste of money and it can never fully fill your heart with anything, but false satisfaction for a short period of time.
