【Profile】
BABYMETAL【SU-METAL (Vocal,Dance) / YUIMETAL (Scream,Dance) / MOAMETAL (Scream,Dance) 】
Formed in 2010. Their major debut single “ Ijme, dame, zettai" along with 2nd single “Megistune" both ranked in the Top 10 Oricon chart in Japan. In March 2014, they took to the stage of Nippon Budokan for a 2-Days gig making them the youngest female act to ever perform there. Their 1st studio album BAYBMETAL made it into the US Billboard chart. In summer of the same year, they embarked on their first World Tour, performing on the Main Stage at UK’s prodigious festival Sonisphere Festival 2014 in front of 65,000 festival goers, and supporting Lady Gaga on her “ArtRave: The Artpop Ball” 2014 Tour. In fall they were back for additional headline shows in Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City and O2 Academy Brixton, London. In January 2015, they headlined a show at the 20,000 capacities Saitama Super Arena, and in June 2015, they headlined a show at the 25,000 capacities Makuhari Messe. In summer of 2015, BABYMETAL received awards from prominent UK music magazines “Kerrang!” and “METAL HAMMER”. They then performed in front of a staggering 90,000 people at the prestigious Reading and Leeds Festival in August. This December, BABYMETAL are to take the stage again for 2 consecutive days at Japan’s Yokohama Arena pulling a total of 26,000 people before returning to the UK in April 2016 to headline London’s The SSE Arena, Wembley. BABYMETAL's ‘Metal Resistance’ is rapidly expanding across the globe.

Excellent first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. I'm glad you enjoyed this, it can go either way with 'Gimme Chocolate' and some people never get past the first "atatatatatatatata dukyun", which is a shame as there is so much more to them than this. As you said, the vocals in this song are very 'poppy', but it is one of the songs that is furthest towards the pop end of their sliding scale of styles and genres. Other songs are very much at the metal end of the scale (and they play virtually every metal genre) and they do everything in between including mixing many other musical styles and genres in with the metal. No two BABYMETAL songs sound alike (OK there are a couple that are similar in style, but you will be hard pressed finding them). Their name 'BABYMETAL' is not about their age (although when they started in 2010 they were aged 12 and 11 so it probably did play a part too). The name was chosen for two reasons: - to symbolize that they gave birth to a new genre of metal music (kawaii metal) - because the writing (and pronunciation) in Japanese is nearly identical to the writing of "heavy metal" (and they love a pun): BABYMETAL = ベビメタル (be-bi-me-ta-ru) heavy metal = ヘビメタル (he-bi-me-ta-ru) As has been said, this video had the studio audio laid over the footage from the live show and the vocals in particular are over processed in the studio recordings - unnecessarily so as Su-metal, the lead singer, is a particularly gifted vocalist (the whole concept for BABYMETAL was formed and developed around her vocal talents and stage presence despite her tender years when they first started). She always sings live - no autotune etc needed - although there is usually a backing track with some harmonies she has pre-recorded but mostly with additional vocals (growls and screams) and additional instruments like piano, synth, strings etc. Their live band (the Kami Band) is made up from some of the very best session musicians to be found in Japan and they are all world class instrumentalists. If you see the band wearing skeleton suits (as in this video) they were just miming - they were called Babybones and were there for the show - no pretence, everybody knew what they were doing, but BABYMETAL started on a very low budget and couldn't afford live musicians for the first two or three years - plus they were just a sub-unit of a bigger Jpop Idol group. They split from that group to become an independent band in their own right in 2013. The live band was phased in gradually from October 2012 and this particular show was the last big one where Babybones made an appearance. The Kami Band became their full time support for all live shows from March 2014. You wondered about other bands members of the Kami band have been in. I think Leda Cygnus was with another band (either Galnaryus or Gacharic Spin, sorry I'm really not sure), but I do know Takayoshi Ohmura toured with Marty Friedman's (ex-Megadeth) band for a while - there are videos of them having shredding competitions during a show. I'm looking forward to following your journey into the Fox Hole, it will be fun and they will surprise you every step of the way. Just two rules - expect the unexpected and enjoy yourself.

It's always extra fun for me to see reactors who appreciate what they are hearing and seeing. With BABYMETAL you will get an explosion of Visuals and Sound. The girls are amazing and have so much energy and talent. The Kami band will blow your mind over and over again. You will see how many different ways BABYMETAL will come at you. With Su Solos, Black BABYMETAL (Yui and Moa duo) All three of them or even the Kami band solos before certain songs. BEST LIVE band ever in my opinion. They always give 1000% at their shows be it big or small. This will be fun to watch.

Great reaction 🤘😷👍 Your gonna get a lot of ppl telling you Babymetal sucks because they don't play any instruments like Band Maid and Love Bites. Babymetal is in a class all by themselves and have one of the best metal bands behind them. BABYMETAL is a fun live act that can't be beat and have accomplished more in their teens then any other band from Japan or in my opinion the world. I have respect for Band Maid and Love Bites and listen to them daily but what they play have been played to death... Babymetal is unique and not everyone gets it....but to each their own. I've been playing music for over 50 yrs and have heard it all. Hope you have fun on your Babymetal ride. 🤘😷👍

Fun facts about this song and the group: 1. Named one of the most important metal songs of the last 10 years 2. A member of Korn got on stage and performed this song with them 3. The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed this song with them 4. Dragon Force performed this song with them. 5. Were in Corey Taylor's recent video. 6. Sang Pain Killer and Breaking the Law with Rob Halford of Judas Priest 7. Sang Pain Killer with The Red Hot Chili Peppers 8. The name BabyMetal is a play on words. In Japanese Heavy Metal and Baby Metal look and sound alike, the only difference is one small symbol when writing.

- First of all, welcome to wonderful world of BABYMETAL! - The lead vocalist, Su-Metal, was 16 years old and Moametal and Yuimetal (the other two) were 14 years old. - This concert is known as “Legend 1997” as Su-Metal was born on 12-20-1997 and this show was the day after her 16th birthday. This was actually the world premiere of the song “Gimme Chocolate”. It was at Makuhari Messe and had an attendance of about 8,000-9,000 people. That’s quite small for the shows they do now, but this was also back in 2013 before they had even released their first album. - These girls have all been performing in some fashion since before they were 10 years old. They may be young, but they are seasoned veterans when it comes to performances at this point. - Yes, this song usually gets a “WTF is this” reaction, and the girls know it as well. The truth is, not all their music is like this. As you see more from them, you’ll come to realize that none of their songs are truly the same. They hit so many different styles and genres, they’re very versatile. - This wasn’t actually a live performance. This was footage from a live show, but the audio was the studio audio. Even at the live show, the “band” wasn’t a real band. They couldn’t always afford a real band early on, so they had the “babybones” guys in the back who pretend to play they instruments just for the visual. They did have their live band, known as “Kami Band” for the last few songs of this concert. - Loved the video, but I have to nitpick. Your audio levels, your voice was very quiet and I had to crank my headphones all the way up, then the music started and blasted my ear drums lol. Anyways, looking forward to your continued journey down the foxhole! - I’d recommend “Road of Resistance” (live in Japan) or “Headbanger” (live at Legend 1997) next!

@@toxicgnome8445 - i wouldn't say they are a metal band, it's complicated. Their backup band that plays their concerts is very much a metal band. They started as an Idol Group that did heavy music. I like to make this distinction because people are against metal bands going pop. But everybody should be for pop groups going metal. They didn't ruin a metal band by having girls front it. The girls were doing this for years before the band joined them. The girls were already playing for thousands of people before the Kami Band joined them full time. There are early shows where the music was 100% recorded and the crowds were still going crazy and it was still a great show.
@smashstuff86

I agree with the audio levels. “Road of Resistance” is a great one to react to, but beware, many reactors to that song have been blocked on copyright. It seems the way to get around it is to stop a lot during the song and to obscure/alter the video portion at times. I'd hate for you to do a great reaction just to have it blocked.

Welcome to Babymetal, this concert was 2013 the day after Su the lead singers 16th birthday. Babymetal invented Kawaii metal or cute metal a fusion of Jpop and metal 10 years ago, with 50 songs, 3 albums and multiple world tours, awards for best live band and voted number 10 out of 50 top metal bands. The other two members are Yui and Moa (14) who do scream and dance and have the best crowd interaction you will ever see. Other songs you might like are Karate, Megitsune, Headbanger, Catch Me if You Can, Awadama Fever, and IDZ at Sonisphere UK 2014 which was a huge international break in front of 60,000+ metalheads. Have opened for Metallica in South Korea, Korn, Guns and Roses, Slipknot, played with Rob Halford of Judas Priest, and Dragonforce. Herman Li did a collab on Road of Resistance, and recently BMTH Kingslayer. There is also Corey Taylor with Babymetal. The band is called the Kami Band and are some of the best musicians Japan have to offer, Takayoshi Ohmura guitar, Fujoka Mikio guitar, BOH bass, Aoyana Hideki drums, sometimes Leda Cygnus guitar. There are others and world tours have different combinations.

Nice Reaction :--) but "Be Warned !" Once You let them Grow on You , You'll Never Gonna Be Able to Get Rid of Them ! ;-) ''BABYMETAL''' ('One word !) refers to "the birth of a new kind of Metal" they call it 'Kawaii Metal'' ("Cute Metal" ;-) (The name in fact has nothing to do with the age of the girls, it is often thought of when looking at their previous work ) "Kawaii Metal" is Mix of J-Pop & "Every" kind of Metal !! Because of the Mix they will never bore you !! (That is if your open to Metal Sub-Genres because they have almost every metal genre in their repertoire ;-) (+/- 50 songs) So If you're willing to do More BABYMETAL? Just be prepared & Buckle up !!! Because your in it for A Hell of a Ride ;-)

Babymetal is also a slight play on words. In Japanese, heavy metal is pronounced 'heby metal'. So they altered it to fit Babymetal with the birth of a new subgenre of metal. Welcome the The One. Enjoy them as alot of us do, many many many times. Live performances are always best. Wait till you see Su-metal's performance of No Rain No Rainbow from the Legend S 2018 Baptism XX concert. And of course, the Road of Resistance life performance.

Good reaction, thanks and welcome to BBYMETAL universe! This song went viral in 2014 and it's usually recommended by it's huge WTF factor. Probably not the best way to get introduced to BABYMETAL specially if you are a metalhead IMO. Gimme Chocolate is a fun song abut wanting to eat chocolate but being a little worried about weight but the instrumentals here are so heavy and make a huge contrast with the pop vocals and the song's general structure and lyrics. Anyway, it seemed to work for you so that is great news! :) The cool thing about BABYMETAL is that all of their songs are so different from the others and they like to explore many metal sub-genres as well as other different music genres. My suggestion comes from the same concert, just a little later, during the five encore songs, with the live band on stage (Kami Band), and this is a totally live footage: "Headbanger" (Live at Legend 1997): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QEsOaMbNFww.html Until next time!

Great reaction! Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance. This song went viral because of it's WTF factor and actually isn't close to being their best song. Here is a little bit of BABYMETAL info...In 2019, BABYMETAL became the first Asian artists to hit #1 on BILLBOARD's Top Rock Albums chart with their latest album, "Metal Galaxy" and a few months ago it was announced that the album won the MTV Japan VMA 2020 award for BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR. BABYMETAL has been melting faces for TEN years. Su, the lead singer, is currently 23 years old, while Moa and Yui are 21. Yes, they were very young when BABYMETAL was formed! In this video, Su is 16 years old. BABYMETAL have performed with, toured, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. Plus the 20+ awards they have been given. They have 50+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. 🦊🤘

Gimme Chocolate is the song that many people hear first, and it either piques their interest or puts them off completely. It's way more poppy than pretty much anything else they do, so I hope you'll check out some of their better stuff. The band here is not the real live band, as in the early days the actual live band only came onstage for encores, of which this particular concert had five. Their live ban, called the Kami (God) Band, are some of the best musicians you'll ever hear. This "live" performance had the studio audio overlayed for the video, and is always heavier when it's actually live. The obvious choices to see what they can do are some of the live performances where they have instrumental intros to some songs, like Rondo of Nightmare (with the Mischiefs of God intro), Catch me if You Can, and a one-off opening intro for the song YAVA, which isn't available on RU-vid.

In this, you get to "meet" the Kami (God) band. in this show it's Leda Cygnus on guitar first, then Takayoshi Ohmura on the second guitar, Boh on the bass, and Hideki Aoyama on drums. In other shows , normally, Mikio Fujioka (RIP Kogami-sama) would be the guitarist. From show to show, one or two of the musicians may change, usually guitarists, depending on their availability due to other obligations. They have an intro segment first and then a Su-metal solo song. Oh man, you're in for such a treat! "Gimme Chocolate" is not really the best way to meet this band, and especially not this particular video of it, but you seem to have handled it well. It only gets better from here, dude! These girls are such professionals, and their live shows are phenomenal. Su is an amazing singer, and as you seem to be OK with the choreography, you will soon be completely charmed by Yui and Moa. And just wait until you meet the real Kami Band! They will blow your mind! To see how impressive they can be live, a good performance would be "Road of Resistance", live at the Saitama Super Arena back in 2015. There's an official version over at the BabyMetal RU-vid channel, but it tends to get blocked, so maybe consider using this safe version instead. (For use in your reaction video that is. If you follow the link in the description there's a non watermarked version for your own viewing pleasure): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CK2TVD0zkUg.html

Great reaction They have different musicians play the music on the studio track. Live they used to have a band what you saw in the background called babybones they were actors they weren’t really playing but because gimme chocolate made them famous they got a real band called the kami (god) band very talented musicians to play at live gigs when touring you’ll see them they dress as Japanese spirits like the grudge. Because of gimme chocolate they became big world wide and also Babymetal has a lore that they were chosen by a fox demon called the fox god to bring forth a new type of metal to bring people together and get more people into metal and save heavy metal. Their outfits change and they said the outfits are like rank.my opinion nothing beats metal tutus

Welcome to Babymetal's foxhole. Once you start circling the hole it can be difficult to escape it's gravitational attraction, but don't fight it - it's great inside. There's a lot to be found in the world of Babymetal; it's lead me to read classical Japanese poetry and some people to the cultivation of tomatoes. Once you're inside the foxhole you'll start to understand. I'm sure you've already noticed that Babymetal fans are dedicated and love to write about the band so doing Babymetal reactions will get you traffic. Babymetal's super power to make people smile is in evidence again in your reaction. Gimme Chocolate is one of the more poppy BM songs and not my favorite for that reason and also because it is performed to a musical backing track. The guys dressed as skeletons are just playing air guitar. But Babymetal's producer realized that to grow they needed a real backing band. So some fantastic professional musicians were hired and The Kami Band was formed. The performance of Headbanger later in the same concert has the girls with live backing from The Kami Band and if you liked Gimme Chocolate I'm sure it will simply blow you away. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QEsOaMbNFww.html

Whenever people react to both Band Maid and BabyMetal, the conversation inevitably get around to comparing the two. I love them both, but cannot compare them musically because they are completely different entities. I can explain the difference between them though. Band Maid is simply the best rock band on the planet today. BabyMetal is something more, a state of mind, an unstoppable movement, and a force for good. It was BabyMetal that led me to Band Maid, and to Wagakki Band, and to Doll$Boxx. Sakura Gakuin, Sabaton, the Hu Band, and Atarashii Gakkou.

Those who compare Band Maid to Babymetal should probably check the timeline... Band Maid wasnt even a band... I suppose if it wasnt for Babymetal there probably would be no Band Maid. Japan is 95% pop... period! Kami Band is an aka for Kari Band... a jazz fusion band who were brought together with these three girls to try something new...
@TheLeomarti

More like the other way around though :-p Kari Band is just a side project of Kami band, hired to support the girls who are the main project and focus

@@TheLeomarti So they were not a band before.... and there is no other music by them... find that hard to believe... but not suprising. If it wasnt for the lucky break... they probably would have never gotten noticed... Its a long way from Japan to get noticed as a heavy metal artists in a country that is 95% j-pop and anime. Baby Bone's, Kami band or the western band members as long as they can play the music written for them ... it s all good!!
@TheLeomarti

@@jotegg1276 Exactly, if I remember correctly the Kari Band was formed in like 2016 or something, so quite some time after Babymetal. And of course the Kami Band was gradually introduced from 2012 onwards, to support the girls.

One piece of advice. I wouldn't assume that every early song is like Gimme Chocolate. I also wouldn't assume that every recent song is like whatever recent one you pick. I recommend Papaya or BxMxC. They have always had a huge variety in their songs. It will be natural to think that 'oh all their early songs are more pop' but that isn't true. All 3 albums are more or less equally poppy and equally heavy.

Band behind them, the Kami-band. Well, they can play just about any style, not just speedmetal. Must, because all their songs are different, having one or more subgenres slipped in. I keep hearing there hasnt been any country in their songs, but i think that will happen with time.

Apart from both being female , Japanese and very good comparisons between Babymetal and Band Maid are pointless. Babymetal are Metal and Band Maid are heavy rock.. Would suggest Road of Resistance live in Japan as your next Babymetal reaction :)

The band is not actually legit in this video. They are miming playing the instruments. The music is pre-recorded. If you watch the song, Headbanger legend 1997, you will see Tha actual band. Called the Kami band or God band. I would actually recommend you check that song out. The real band is incredible.

Morpheus once said: “Take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes”. Well, it’s true for Babymetal also. With one slight difference: it’s a fox hole. After you take the red pill there is no way back...

@@toxicgnome8445 Unfortunately many music labels are blocking lots of songs of many bands. Was it a block on the audio or video or both? Was yours blocked before or after upload? If after upload, I've seen a few reactors get their video unblocked but I'm not sure how...might be some type of appeal process. If it was instablocked before you could get onto your channel, people have done certain tricks to get around the block. Don't know your editing skills but I've seen people flip the embedded video (mirror image, backwards). Some people will put some type of watermark over the embedded video, usually a semi-transparent logo, usually the band logo. You might want to start with low transparency/opacity and keep increasing until it clears the block. I've even seen some people adjust the opacity of the embedded video itself so it kind of blends into the background somewhat. Let me know if you're successful!

@@sleepingfordays I've thought about a watermark. I don't know why it got blocked. I can dispute it but if I loose, my channel get a strike and it could be deleted so I just delete them. No big deal. All of the reactions have a copywrite mark next to them, just most don't block it. I'll look into tricks to get them up. Ya never know. Thank you for all that tho, I appreciate it.
