Using the slow time of year to make a couple steel models of Hitchi Ex 200-1 Excavators. They will be for sale when done.Havent decided yet if there will be hydraulic thumbs and full guarding yet
Absolutely amazing. Turning sheets of metal into beautiful models. I'm currently working on a tiny little 1/87 Hitachi EX400 log loader and planning out a 1/50 CAT 235 with young log boom.
Todd, this is great! I have some metalworking skills, but I lack the working knowledge of the equipment you are modeling. I'm jealous. Sooner or later, one model at a time you will come into your own, so to speak. The next step is to publish plans. I look forward to building some of your designs, I hope I live long enough to see it happen! I hope that you will retire to your shop, as I did after 40 years as a heavy truck mechanic. For me, life is good. Make more chips and sparks! Best regards, TC
Knowing that the day is ours, as a pal of mine said, is worth everything! Started buring fuel when I was 17 and still do some but not every day at 66. CHEERS!!
Unfortunately,i'm a dinosaur, and evreything is build as i go ,seat of the pants style.Ruler, marker, tape measure, some photos, and a lot of-'I guess thats good enough"
skadill Me too and I measure it several times and still get it wrong. I'm in the chain saw/ sledge hammer phase of finish carpentry. I do fairly well on the diesel end of it though.
Do you tig weld the whole seam ?Or are you spotting it mig welding just in spots ?I only have a mig miller 210 .Just trying to learn how you made it so straight
Spot inside the boom every inch or where you see a dark mark, and the last piece is external welded with same quick tacks and will be sanded smooth.I run a big miller 252 wire feed with 035 wire.way overkill.Same welder and wire I use for 3/4" plate real equipment stuff.
Here you go again! I'm trying to get a generator running and you're doing something constructive! I hope you've got a plasma cutter because if you don't, you ought to have one. Those are going to be as sweet as the yarders.
I have about 10 norscot cats...in a oak curio cabinet...a whole nother one 3x the size with a berger and 2 235s and 2 or maybe 3 9gs for tie backs...and little men in rain gear n hard hats...yea I've got it all planned out right...lol
