I just want to take a moment to thank you Pixel Dan for inspiring me to begin toy collecting. I'm 41 and your videos have given me so much knowledge about all of these toys I grew up with but had forgotten about. I wish I had known about toy collecting a lot earlier. Its a great hobby!
Adult collectors who deal with people telling them to grow up, remember this: those who allow their inner child to die are the same ones who develop crippling addictions because, at some point, someone made them feel as if they were too old for the things they loved and they turned to what was presented to them as "adult" things. I believe that those forms of addictions are often credited, somewhat, to trying to full that void that's left after we are forced to let childish things go. A child does what makes them feel happy... so, why can't we do the same as adults? As long as a man's bills are paid, his family is taken care of, and he has his house in order, it is better to spend your time on something that brings you that child-like happiness than something that gives you a momentary feeling of false happiness.
You are very lucky to have a wife that supports a hobby that you have a passion and love for. Everyone has a hobby or hobbies that he or she likes and its nice to be able to support each other along the way. Having said that, thanks Pixel Dan for sharing your hobby with the RU-vid community. I always enjoy these toy hunting videos. I really appreciate it. Keep it up!
Thanks for showing off the Chicken Fried Toys. I'm a big fan of the line. We need to spread the word on them far and wide. Excellent sculpts & paint apps all around.
Please keep these videos coming !!! There’s nothing I love more then toy hunt videos and learning about new toys and being hit with nostalgia when I see something from my childhood
Cool! Here in England, we had a UK produced RING RAIDERS comic to support the toyline. I had several of the airplanes, but I wanted more..., so I took the lids off any old and dying felt-tip pens, stuck cardboard wings to those lids, decorated them... and made my own RING RAIDERS! Sometimes, I miss being that little kid back in the '80s. ;-)
So many cool toys there, wish I could have made it. VISIONAIRIES are one of my favorite lines and series. Those MEGA MAN toys would have been up my alley as I am trying to recollect the Bandai line. And ARMY ANTS? Haven't seen those in years. And of course love me some ALIENS figures lol. Thanks for sharing Dan looks like between you and Melvor you guys brought home some awesome toys!
the ring raiders comic style artwork was done by the legendary comic artist herb trimpe he had some of it for sale when i met him a decade ago. he also worked for the air force on jet and plane artwork for there magazines and books.
I couldn't remember his exact name while filming - Glow Bones! I wish he was complete, but still glad to grab him. You're right, he's a pretty pricey toy generally!
those bill and ted figs were in dollar boxes at cons for a very long time after they were released. i use to have a full set of them that i picked up for next to nothing and it included the 2 pack that came with a cassette of there music. its funny to see them going for so much now. tons of that 90s stuff just sat and never sold even at a dollar for the longest time
Awesome video, man i wish i could be there toy hunting myself, saw a lot of stuff i would have liked to get my hands on or just enjoy for what it is. I love these videos. Hope all is well with you and that things are going well. Keep the love and passion alive Dan! Keep up the great work!
Discovered your channel Christmas just gone with the advent Callander videos so seeing and hearing your voice just screams Christmas to me which is so strange 😄
Great Video Dan like always, I love to watch your videos! All your videos are super fun to watch!! Your collection is impressive!! Keep up the good work!! Greetings from Europe
Up until last October, I've never ever been to a toy show. I finally got my chance to attend 1 at a fire hall outside Niagara Falls, NY last October. I saw ads for it on Facebook & I think I even saw an ad for it in 1 of the local penny savers, so I decided to go check it out. It's basically like going to antique shops or flea markets & those are awesome (I get some decent finds of all varieties in places like those). I had a really great time chatting with vendors (some I did introductions with) & fellow patrons, checking out the deals, what was being sold that would catch my interests & whatnot. I had some pretty good finds & I can show you some photos of what I got at that show on Twitter (where I'm BigNick62385). I did get some discounts here & there. Supposedly, there'll be another toy show at that same fire hall again, come March. I'm on the E-mail list, so I should receive a notification of when it's to take place & hopefully (as long as the weather isn't crappy & I'm talking bad road conditions only or anything else comes up that would prevent me from going). I also never knew that I'm within driving distance (like less than an hour) of some other local toy shows that happen, so I'll have to check some out when I get a chance.
Those figs from 'Chicken Fried Toys' are really cool. I love Western/Cowboy genre toys, not many put there & those look very well made.. That Skelator is beautiful..
Im a builder and im 37. I was told by a guy on wirk to grow up. I told him id rather start collecting he man and tmnt toys than entertain his bullshit. 75 bucks for a skelator 82 orig....... noice
when people tell me that, i give them this: those who allow their inner child to die are the same ones who develop crippling addictions because, at some point, someone made them feel as if they were too old for the things they loved and they turned to what was presented to them as "adult" things. I believe that those forms of addictions are often credited, somewhat, to trying to full that void that's left after we are forced to let childish things go. I need to get a camera harness. Aiming to hit local toy show finally after um 7 or 8 years. 😅 I forget the hear Army ants came out. My toy buying had slimmed down by then I think.
Shoot, that looks like it was a really good time. I'm in OK, so hitting up a shot like this in Texas wouldn't be TOO out of the question... maybe in the future. Good vid though! Lotta cool stuff.
Hey Dan! Great video as always! Just wondering if there was going to be another episode of The Geek Easy Podcast anytime soon and if we are any closer to seeing the new toy room. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! I love the area. I'm there around once a year, and always find cool shops to check out. I've got another Toy Hunt video coming soon from a store in the area called Retro Madness.
I have a soft spot for those cowboy figures from Chicken Fried Toys. They remind me of those little figurines that don't have any articulations at all. Pretty much like the little plastic soldiers that come in various colours. And speaking of which, hey Dan, any more info on how I can get in touch with those guys from Chicken Fried Toys? Thanks.
Sad story : I had well over 100 turtles, some heman and prob 30ish gijoes when i was young ....my mom gave them too my cousins to play with....and get this....all the toys....even a snes and a nintendo with a ton of games and controllers all gone. My cousins mother literally looses the house and tells no one....so get this...they lock the house down and we couldnt get in by the time we found out...the company hires someone to go clean it out...the cleaners bag it all up...and literally take all the bags and go dump it down a dirt road in a empty area. We were accused of dumping the stuff...some how my mom was contacted due to something found in the bags 0f crap...come to find out not only did my aunt loose everything that wasn't hers,..but...all my stuff ended up just being thrown on the side of the road . So much toys from 80s and 90s. And even video games , now Gone and then when we were called ABOUT the mess we told them it wasn't us and told them about the situation. Cuz the city was trying to charge us a trash dumping ...so then we went to go recover anything we could and guess the original cleaners had gotten it and took it to the dump . So not only did the stuff slip out my hands once but twice ...and it was all mine originally ....so tragic . I still haven't forgiven my aunt to this day for loosing the house and not telling us in time so we could go get our stuff back . Sorry for the long story just figured this was the channel to tell that heart breaking story too lol . I'm back collecting and saving everything again now that I'm older and it doesn't leave my house lol
It's tough. Ebay sold auctions is the best way to get an idea how much people are actually paying for items. But if you're setting up at a show, you'll need to price even lower than that if you want to move stuff. People are looking for deals at these shows. Most of the time, clearing up the space is more important to me so I make a lot of deals to clear out my table.
I still have my he-man and skeleton cake toppers at home. I don’t know where the cake mold is. I think I also have the tnmt cake mold. But since I couldn’t decide what ninja turtle I wanted on the top my mom made a pizza cake. If I can find a photo I’d show ya.
I know this is an old video, but if you see this comment please reply, have you ever had a booth at a comic con in Kentucky, because if you did was it star wars themed
@@Pixel-dan bro me too lol soon as i seen it i remebered them. I usually go to retro game cons n arcade cons but i believe i may check out a toy one i been collecting a little. And its so fun to see stuff we forgot about, That feeling of remembering something u had as a kid is a good feeling thanks 4 sharing that with me
Hey Dan, this is a long shot but I've been watching your hunting videos for awhile hoping to see a seller with the remco translucent hidden forces ninja from the 3.75 American Defense line. It's ultra rare and been trying to price one for years. Thanks in advance if you know anything about it. @pixeldan
