If your MTH Electric Trains O Gauge Proto 1 or Proto 2 sound locomotive is acting a little funny, don't panic! It's likely that your model has a bad battery. What, my locomotive has a battery? Yes.

Our friend and resident toy train aficionado, Kevin Hill, had this problem with his MTH NW2 recently. Kevin is more of an S Scale guy than an O scale guy. He only has O Gauge trains to run on his friend's layouts. So, rather than sending it away for warranty service or throwing it out, Kevin did some looking around and found that these engines have 8.4 volt batteries that are used to keep the sound operational.
It was such an easy fix (and a relief!), that Kevin wanted to share this information with the world.
