House Dance Forever, the mother of all Forever battles, takes place in Paradiso, Amsterdam each year in February. The House Dance Forever battle was born in 2009 and inspired the summer edition: Summer Dance Forever.
Summer Dance Forever is an inner city urban dance festival where dancers from around the world gather in the city of Amsterdam, each year in August.
Seven days to enjoy an international dance feast, packed with the best of today and the great promises of tomorrow. Organized in several venues around town, expect a great variety of dance performances, next level battles and workshops to refresh and boost your skills. This wasn't even close. Toyin is an exceptional dancer, but Clementine was in the groove that night. She was feeling every beat. While Toyin was working every beat. Big difference.

Clemment was doing a bunch of weird trying to be smooth like ejoe in a battle . Toyin was feeling it from the heart. Yall never saw the real so you dont understand what real housin is. Clem didnt do any Housin moves. Just tried to look smooth and do some abstract ish but was far from housin to me but good dancing. Not for a house battle unless you battling some dancers over there but not a nyc dancer . they come from the raw realness that people pay to learn . By saying Toyin was working every beat shows you dont really know the real because she wasnt. she was feeling it .

It's so hard to judge cuz women are the birth of that feeling in dance. She is the original teacher so to judge grace (where you come from) is equal to a purposeful assault of avoidance. I know it's 'just a contest' & 'why the deep reference?', but there haven't been any women judges in many of these dance contest.......Especially europe. Think about that. & if there ever was, the men (who may have issues with their mothers) will take immediate steps to negatively judge their skill(go back to sentence 2) .This is a light demonstration on the issues that europe has always had with the rise of women. The dynamics of both of them(one rockin' on the top, one rockin' on the floor) was something to be inspired by.

Well said, I thought it was just me. The judges including the announcer are very chauvinistic. Taking nothing from Clementine she was very good, but Toyin has to dance twice as hard,( I dear not say why) they've cheater her and other great female dancers who tore the floor up against a male competitor. What ever their issue; It takes away from this beautiful competition. It's really pathetic.

Toyin alllll day. Toyin was REALLY HOUSIN. Clem's was trying to me. I mean it was smooth but not enough Housin but you would have had to see that raw house dancing in the clubs when they all were in their prime to understand what I mean.

Emad Gholam possible but I think that is not enough to deny. Toyin the round. Only thing I can think of is that they gave it to Clem cause she had a longer round (Toyin ended before the countdown even started).

man, I feel the same, I mean, she's gorgeous and it is nice to see people bringing different influences to the table but come on, Toyin got the groove and flavor of house dance, I just don't get how she lost here... I have lots to learn I guess

UNIVERSE OF DANCE you spoke on Clementines “energy” so I thought you were going based off dancing and talent. Sure, anyone can discriminate based off what a person is wearing.. but if you’re a real dancer and you’re judging based off talent and dance alone, Someone should be able to come out in a trash bag and still get their recognition if they deserve it. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Nina Marie Ball I didn’t speak on clementine’s energy, someone else did. Clothes make your dancing look different, details, for example shoulder moves don’t look the same in all colors or in baggy or skinny clothes. I’ve seen this more on popping and hip hop dancers tho. People can’t see your dancing if you’re wearing a trash bag but we all know how talented is Toyin. The dude in the main comment simply didn’t like the outfit, and you went too deep.

Good point but explain to me how this is house dancing? put her moves in a contemporary dance piece and it would work. Toyin was dancing house.

Does it really matter? Half of what Malcom does in his sets is not house by strict rules, you could say a lot of house dancers dont dance house. But judges are open minded. for me as long as you're actually dancing and feeling it it doesn't matter what moves you use. If you say you're a house dancer then you are one. Allowing originality is what helps dance evolve. There's a lot of people who say this event is not even house at all, that its in fact ruining it. But purism like that doesn't get you anywhere...

Form in any artistic practice matters. It does matter cuz then we are not playing with the same rules. if you play tennis then you decide to use badminton rules then it makes no sense. Toyin is adding other elements but its all part of house dance which has its african roots. Clementine movements have nothing to do with streetdance or hip hop or afro based dance. don't call it a house battle then , call it freestyle. if you do flamenco you have to observe certain forms, sames goes for salsa or cumbia or any other dance. you can't lose the spirit of the dance because you can't keep a beat. i'm tired of folks stealing our dances and trying to turn them into something that its not.
