Lol, a bit of sands automatically hones the cylinder walls. BTW these 4K engines are PEAK Toyota engineering and they are indestructible, so a bit of sand and oil sludge wont kill these engines easily.
And guess waht? It's been almost 3 years now the car is a workhorse it transports meat on circuit of 800km daily and we have no complains from the owner regarding the engine, but i assume you didn't notice it was a toyota engine to be specific 4k engine
I have seen 40 years engine in Senegal. I am 52 years old and grew up with Car Rapide buses who still run after I left Senegal 25 years ago. Those buses were not new when I left.
Just make a big table to put your engine stuff, you can do that guys, it’s not rocket science. You can’t do engine disassembly on sand, it’s unprofessional and it won’t last. Also you have to use a torque wrench for right specifications. You can’t operate like the mechanic of 1933, things have changed.
Rebuild? Couldn't identify that much of new parts. I have my struggle with the open block on a cardboard and all the dust and sand around but if if gets stuck it will be repaired again and again tia

Motor sounded like trash on that first start up after being cleaned with sand , video cut off before could see but looks like used the old headgasket ontop of the new one?
@@Africanmechanics I applaud you guys. You make whatever is at hand, useful for your purpose. I liked how he punched holes in tbe new cylinder-head for the water channels. When you are in America, do like the Americans. When you are in Africa, do like the Africans ! Best Regards. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
Let me tell you bro we have stayed with this long enough to know some hacks, now whenever you are dealing with this old cars, if everything works just fix or replace the damaged parts and let it be or else it will coseyou more damage 🤣
poor engine cooled with that radiator in africa ... of course they dont change it :( Also if you have an old engine with slightly oval pistons, you can ruin it with new rings... but you must know this :)
