Not a bad job. Did you notice the machine tools in the shop? Clearly this guy has more more talent in one finger nail than many of our politicians. Very innovative on finding alternate parts. The only down side to cummins is the freakin' noise! My truck is a VP swapped 24 valve ISB dodge. Sometimes, the noise is not welcome. But everything else is just cool.
outdoors199 i really wanna 4bt In a Comanche but hard to find a Comanche in good condition. So I'm thinking about a Toyota Tacoma. Both great little trucks. With excellent 4wd system's
THIS JUST IN - - - Fuel Economy Results: 25 mi/gal (city/off-road). This video review was actually shot during this economy test, and as you can see he was running it pretty hard on the streets and was also doing lots of random off-road testing... Highway economy test coming soon, blackrhino74 is shooting for 30+mi/gal! Stay tuned for latest results!
UPDATE - - - Highway Economy Results are in: 27 mi/gal (driving like old grandpa), this is only a 2 mi/gal improvement over the city and off-road economy... I suppose the 4BT doesn't care how you drive - it gets what it gets.
You sir, are my hero. This will be the ultimate project that I plan for my rig. Finishing my hydro assist and bulletproofing my front axle and steering the next few weeks...then it will be saving up for this. Cannot wait.
Did you feature your build on any forums? I have a 79 with an OM617 in it now. Getting ready to do the 4bt swap. I would love some info about the bellhousing strategy. How does that nv4500 do on the highway with the 4.10 gears? can you go over 60 without hitting 2500 rpm in 5th? Truck looks like fun!
Fanfriggingtastic! I remember seeing this thing once.... I heard that maybe you 'upgrayeded' this baby semi-recently... perhaps a video update is prescribed????
The truck of my dreams! Absolutely perfect; maybe you could find a few individual components that could be upgraded, but the overall concept is friggin' ideal. I would give certain parts of my male anatomy for one just like it.
I have to say that I am definitely wanting this ride at some point in the future after watching this vid. Sweet. Do a follow up vid please. And also please refilm underneath using a flashlight or trouble light, as I am dying to get a better look.
Love this truck!!! I have a extra cab 85 that is begging for a 4bt! Will definatly attempt a project like this very soon!! Mahalos for the video it would be nice to get some light when fiming underneath the truck next time hahaha
I've gotta 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 12 Valve that I'm seriously considering trades with for an older yota like that so I can build a truck like this in college
They make those starters in just about every configuration you can imagine 12-24 volt left side mount right side mount and different teeth numbers you shoud be able to find one to meet your needs without modification. Google Minnpar starters, It won't help now but if he ever needs a replacement it might come in handy.
blackrhino74 There are multiple bolt holes in the mounting plate so it can be clocked however you need it. It only takes a couple of minutes to change.
James Flores some of the newer trucks have an electronic locker. they use the same axle housing so all you have to do is pull the third member and put it in your truck with. add a switch and you're good to go
She idles down the interstate in overdrive at 75mph with lots of room under the petal, so I think the potential top speed would be well above that which would be safe to drive. You can ask blackrhino74 for his top-speed calculations. :-)
