The 1986 - 1993 GT4 was sold in the US as the Celica All-Trac Turbo. Sadly the 94-99 never made it here.

that one at 3:08 isn't a GT4, it's a normal ST202 with a 3SGTE in it, so it's most likely FWD...making it all the more impressive that it gapped that R35

Why does the factory speedometer only register 180 km/h? Toyota obviously knew this car would do much faster than that even in stock (non-turbo) trim.

Its because according to japanese laws all cars are restricted to 180km/h hopefully i aint too late to explain!

Simply there's a speed limiter on all JDM cars because of japanese laws! Now the modern cars like the R35 GTR got a GPS system, which when it locates you on a circuit, unlock the 180km limit to reach the full potential ! On old JDM you need to remove or bypass this speed limiter to remove the limit!

Not the case with the 2018 M5 where you can switch all wheel drive off completely to just rear wheel drive. If that option was fitted to the Celica it would be perfect.

@@H0LDENSUX The big problem is, you're comparing a car from 90's to a modern car of this year ! A Subaru STI from 2006 can already do it ! No need a M5 ! A M5 from 90's don't have such a technology too ! The only car I know from 90's which can switch Its AWD system to a rear wheel drive (2WD) is the R32 GTR ! But it was kinda useless, since the R32 was much faster in AWD !

Not so sure ! The 3S-GTE is another very famous engine from Toyota, which can handle 900 to 1000 HP ! Never underestimate the sleeping water !

Prodigious 909 I own to st162s and there is rarely any of them left here in the USA. But yes u can find a ton of the st205s here and yes there legal here . Fun to see them being underrated when aside of a typical tuner car and see them behind u at the end makes me think my investment was worth it

Testdrove them back in the days and was a bit dissapointing. IMHO Toyota made the road model way to friendly and felt sluggish (heavy). Tricky and expensive to tune the engine back then. But as for an icon : Technically the best and what a great looking car!

True ! Way to friendly, and the 3S GTE needs to be more punchy, the ECU isn't enough good for a AWD. But on the MR2 GTS the same ECU is just perfect and made it very fast !
