Both good vehicles - if configured right with the right tyres. Main thing you need for off road is is reliability, a good winch and ground anchor system. Reliability is much better on any Toyota - that the reason for their global domination outside of the USA.

Why would I want a vehicle that every high school girl owns.lmao plus the allure of owning an FJ is simple.you don't see that many everyday and I live the fact that I can do everything a Jeep can do and not have to worry about it breaking.now I almost bought a Rubicon which I do love .Everytime I think of getting 1 the urge passes

jeep in terms of raw power is superior but too pricey. get the fj and use the price difference for upgrades.

This proved absolutely nothing. Both Vehicles are great in their own way. Try this same test in the Arizona desert rock crawling and I bet they would still both perform superbly. I'd partner up on a trail run anywhere with a FJ.

I've had a cj 5 and now have an FJ. The Cj 5 was a blast but not reliable. Broke down a lot. I love the Fj too. I'm not goimg where any of them can't go.

Stock vs stock Jeep wins and hands down and upgrades if you spend same amount of money on Jeep as you would fj the Jeep will be unstoppable.remeber this Jeep has solid axle fj doesn't so when you try to bump hop on a rock to hard with that much power while climbing in your line I think we all know what happens. Looked to me that the jeep was locked up front and the FJ wasn't. Also long wheelbase vs shorter, different tires, and different drivers create many advantages/disadvantages for each vehicle depending on the terrain. As a mechanic with many of my own built TJ's. I think the FJ is a very well designed and put together vehicle. Solid axles for hardcore off roading is stronger and more reliable and can achieve more flex. But the FJ is no slouch. I would prefer a Toyota engine versus the shit 3.8 in early JKs. And personally I love taking my top and doors off and think the FJ is a bit homely looking in stock form. This one in the vid looks pretty nice though.

Fjs are like 4th gen runners. Ugly until a lift and new rims. Then they look amazing

I recommend a channel called: “COLORADO 4x4” just to get a better taste of what FJs can do They travel all over North America off roading so you get a broad range of terrain and drivers

why do they keep gunning the engines? and its obvious watching the front wheels that the fj is in 4wd H . drivers of both vehicles just dum. can't power through that small mound. finesse and low end torque wins the day but they don't know how to do it properly tires are not aired down and the tires not being used to full potential. they will snap a rear axle one day.
