Glad you enjoyed the video! The 1HD-FT's come that way from Toyota. The fully mechanical engines were only made for 2-3 years before Toyota updated them to EFI for the 100 series landcruisers. This makes the older mechanical engines highly sought after.

I have been lucky enough to own 1HD-FT, and I love it. I am just curious if you still own it and what the mileage is on it now and if you had to do any major maintenance on the engine.

I love the sounds of this engine, 1HD oh my God i think this is one of the Toyota's finest engineering. I also enjoying riding on Coaster city buses because they sound the same as this Land Cruiser

The customer had re-geared his differentials prior to the diesel conversion to compensate for the 35" tires. So, at highway speeds, the RPMs are a bit high.

This is not the 1996 model due to the shape of the air conditioner openings come rectangular rather than square

This engine and the 4.5 petrol were the most common ones in the UK.

How much does this run, the 3fe in my 1991 80 is slowly dying, and I really don’t want to rebuild the 3fe especially with 8mpg, I would love 20ish mpg

We used a stock diesel tachometer for this conversion

Is this engine 1HD fit and can replace the gasoline engine w/o any modifications?? Am not an engineer or mechanical but I’ve asked to try

the engine mounts are the same only difference is that the heater core lines are a bit bigger i think in the 1HD-FE. Someone i knew who did an FTE conversion into a 105 showed me but im not sure if the heater core lines are different on the 80 series. Apart from that, this is a really simple swap.
