I watch this every morning to remember how to get in my car...

This video left out one VERY important feature: Should the battery in remote fail, or vehicle will not recognize it, briefly hold the remote in front of the START button on dash. This will allow the vehicle to recognize the security feature in the remote and allow car to start, even when the remote is not being recognized from distance.

One of the things I was NOT told at dealer when I bought my 2011 used 2 years ago; There is a hidden key in fob and how the battery change works, but here in this video its perfectly explained. Take a star away from the dealer for telling me its $500 for a new fob and no way to change battery for $8. Thankful to O'Rielly for help here... Anyways I still don't know how to use the key in emergency use. Guy at parts store said I could start the car with key as well... under the button he says but no clue on that. Thanks in advance.

They leave a lot of useful info out, like how you can take it to dealer for auto window opening, and the eco mode to temporarily disable the smart key functions. Really good for when you’re in a shady situation

Toyota. Outstanding, that's why I've had 4 New Toyotas 😊. I'm not bragging. When I bought a New Camaro Z28 water pump, it went out in 6 months. I purchased a New Dodge Van conversion, the top front radiator hose, and burst. In the middle of San Diego. Not all American models are bad.

You can also quickly tap the lock button 2 times and hold it the 3rd time and the car will flash it’s lights and turn on. Just a little Easter egg. Found out after spending 600$ on an aftermarket remote start when the car already had it with the smart key 🙃

I have leased Corollas for years and the technology has really changed. I"m sure my car can do things of which I am totally unaware. It goes into "eco mode' , for instance, when I accelerate and exceed the speed limit, how is that? . And, there are so many displays from which to choose. There is one option that can be life-saving, that is "Turbo Mode". I feel like Danica Patrick when I deploy that button! I have become the proverbial Little Old Lady Who Drives To Church and Back. I have had the car since 2017 and have 4K miles on it. And now with the pandemic going on, it may stay that number for a long while. My hubby just went out to start the car. For the second time since I leased it, the battery is completely dead. The last time this happened, the car had to be towed to the dealership in order to replace the battery, something about a dead cell. One question for all of you autophiles out there: Does the turbo engine use more gas? And one observation, something I have always complained re: Corollas: the buttons to operate the heat and A/C can cause one's eyes to be diverted. They should use dials or knobs or, the dashboard should be elevated or SOMETHING. I would like to hear from other Corolla drivers on this matter please.

I wish more people can see this how to video on how to properly use the remote. It irks me when I hear people pushing the unlock button 5 times just to unlock the car or pressing the lock button 8 times when you just have to press it once.

The most important thing they have left out is how to prevent the thieves stealing your car. You press and hold lock, and tap twice on the unlock. That way your smart key stops communicating with your car back and forth, and this way "digital" thieves can't copy the key signal to a empty key and drive away with your car.

2023 rav4 limited has a secret remote start feature 😮 dealer didn’t tell me this and it’s not obvious when looking at the remote. Hit Lock twice press and hold the lock button , remote start from the fob!

I still prefer a mechanical key. If your battery is dead you can use the mechanical key to get inside, how do you then start the car then, or can you with that mechanical key?

I lost one of two keys. What should I do now to disable the lost key or in other words if someone finds the key and knows the car location how should I stop him from stealing my car?

On Chevrolet cars, the mechanical key slot is underneath an end cap on the drivers door. We have to pry off the cap with the mechanical key in order to use it.
