The finished product.
In this series follow along as I install a current model Toyota 79 Series Landcruiser bonnet (hood) scoop onto a 200 Series Toyota Landcruiser bonnet. I used a second hand 200 Series bonnet and a new 79 Series bonnet as my starting point. This DIY series follows the entire process from procurement of the materials through to completion of the project with full costings. In this final installment, I colour sand the bonnet, install the ductwork, and fit the bonnet to the vehicle. I also perform some inlet air temperature testing. If you are new to this series, check out the full project by starting back at episode 1. Click here to check it out!

Loved the final result mate, I think I will do the same for my 200. Only one gripe, PPE. Especially 2K clear coat is deadly.... you should have used an organic P2 filter AT THE LEAST along with a full tyvek suit (It's BAD BAD juju to absorb into skin as well). Please for any following Terry's excellent work, please do the research and use the correct PPE whenever using 2K paints. Cheers,, Andy.

Hi bloke, I see in the video the vehicle had more power with the bonnet protector off, why put it back on?
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 3 года назад
Hi Jim, great question mate. I spent a crap load of time getting the finish just perfect on the bonnet. I wanted to try and protect it because that leading edge cops a flogging, especially with the dirt and gravel work I do. It’s still running cooler with the scoop plus protector when compared to the factory setup, so I’m getting a good compromise of protection plus cooler running. You are correct in you’re observation however, if you want max cooling run without the bonnet protector. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍

Hi Terry Well i couldn't put it off any longer. I have the bonnets in the shed, 79 bonnet has been cut and ready to weld together, then cut out the 200 bonnet. Thanks again for the inspiration to do it. If you don't mind answering one question please. The bulge assembly for the 79, did that come as a complete assembly with the rubber seal for the intercooler or was it two seperate sections. Thanks again and any info will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Heath
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 4 года назад
Well you are a legend Heath, I take my hat off to anyone willing to have a go, and you sir are one of those individuals! Re the bonnet bulge, I assume you are asking about the bits that I bought from Toyota? There are two main parts. The bonnet insert which is the scoop you can see from the outside, and the ducting itself. The ducting plastic takes the air from the scoop to the inter cooler. The rubber seal is part of the assembly. If this is not what you were after just let me know and I’m happy to help in any way I can. Thanks for reaching out mate, I sincerely appreciate it.😎👍
@heathholland2319
@heathholland2319 4 года назад
Thank s for getting back to me so fast. I didn't really make that all that clear. I have been to Toyota and they have quoted me two separate assemblies for the 79 intake assembly. The top inset as you mentioned which you see from the top and the second from underneath. Just wondering if you got this as one assembly or was it sold as two? As you have mentioned it's near impossible to find any 79 bonnets with these attachments. Thanks again.
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 4 года назад
Understood Heath. I’m not sure why Toyota quoted two underside sections. Mine came as one, and included the rubber gasket that mates to the face of the intercooler. I had to buy some clips and fasteners separately but that’s about it. I could dig up an exploded view of the parts for you if you think that would be helpful. Cheers 👍

Thank you for taking the time to reach out and comment, I sincerely appreciate it. Unfortunately I’m not in the market to make another one. I’ve moved onto a new restoration project that is taking all my time now. Stay tuned for that one in an upcoming video. Cheers😎👍
