Handbrake light has been on then off as I’m driving at speed and it stayed on longer and longer and now it’s constantly on so I’m going to change both of my rear at the same time this Saturday great video bro.
Those look like mtec grooved and dimpled discs. Do you get a slight whirring noise when you brake with them? If so can you also still hear it but really faintly after you have stopped braking? I'm trying to work out if one of my calipers is sticking slightly or whether you just experience the pad slightly touching the disc without it sticking.
They are mtec grooved and dimpled; i get no noises at all; my best guess would be a semi seized caliper. My rear right operated under foot but the hand brake did nothing as the cable no longer had enough leverage to activate the piston. I imagine it never really released either and a noise would be a natural consequence
@@andrewsparey697 Thanks for that, I'm wondering if my handbrake cable my be causing the brake to stick on slightly. All the calipers are new. I've got new cables which I need to get round to fitting.
@@OochPinnock search youtube for “relentless racing mr2 handbrake”. Excellent video but you have to drop the fuel tank. Apparently you can do it in 3 hours if well trained, took me about 8 doing it outdoors under a scissor jack
@@andrewsparey697 I have that one saved ready for when I do it. I'm going to change the hoses at the same time. I'll probably try and remove all the stuff inside the car on one day and then drop the tank the following day if it takes that long. Does your car have aircon as I think it is a bit more difficult if so.
@@OochPinnock it does have broken aircon, that slows you down by maybe 20 minutes, not too bad. Having a decent stable jack for the tank is the most important part. Mine balanced on a scissor jack. Was awkward and hard to raise and line up the bolt holes again
