Toyota Paint Recall (WHAT TO DO) 

We got approved but not sure if they will repaint the whole car.

How did they repaint your entire vehicle the tsb only calls for the affected affected areas being painted

If your paint is blizzard or frost white your car should be eligible for the paint warranty, have you experienced any paint peel? Did the Toyota dealer tell you that your car was not eligible?

@JJ vdz yes car is eligible it's just the wait time for them to complete the job will take another 2 years which is not a viable solution.

Any updates? Do they repaint the whole car?

@@zowieerickson2409 i have an update on mine. They didnt paint the whole thing. They only did the parts that were messed up and still managed to miss a whole lot. Where did you go? Coz mine didnt help at all.

@@nikkilucila5061 That's awful. I just started the process and made an appointment for them to inspect it, but the peeling is getting worse by the day. My Toyota rep mentioned to me that Toyota will only cover the parts that were damaged, and if you want to paint the entire car you would have to pay for it. I'm planning on going to the Toyota Doral dealership here in Florida. Were they at least able to cover up the parts that were missing paint? And does the paint on your car now look uneven since you have old paint and now the new paint?

@@nikkilucila5061 Also, I heard you can go in for a 2nd time. Although the process is a bit more cumbersome because they would need approval from higher management for a 2nd paint job. I would give that a shot if I were you and maybe try a different dealership and mention how they didn't do a good job the previous time. Let me know.

There not tho, it’s not the Manufacturer servicing these recalls, it’s the Dealers that are for filling these recalls and there the ones not coming through for the effected customers

It is I have a super white tundra that it’s happening to and it pisses me off I can’t believe on such expensive vehicles they short change you with a shit paint job it’s a run around they won’t cover my tundra and they won’t except the paint code I don’t understand how it’s the same paint that is under recall but they won’t do anything about it there custom care sucks completely I love my tundra they took note of my anger and my issue and told me too bad what kind of a jerk off job is this what the fuck is wrong with you toyota

Hi this just happened to me as well was anyone able to give you an answer? They told me the same thing that it expired and that only if enough people call they will reopen the case

I would do some additional research on the warranty for your specific year, make and model. 3year / 36,000miles doesn’t seem right for this paint peeling recall. Once you find the document from toyota stating that your car is cover, present that to your local toyota dealer

Same here, mine is peeling and now the roof has rust on it. But it’s the dark Navy Blue paint, so I guess we are screwed.

Is it only for white paint?

I had the same issue. Door pillar started peeling. Clear on roof almost gone. 2914 tundra, blue.

Went to the dealership said I'm out of luck I have to repair somewhere else.

Yes the whole car got re-sprayed

I have had peeling paint since I got my 2010 Rav 4. It’s gotten very bad now to the point of embarrassing to drive. I got a letter from Toyota and they said they will send me another letter when they start to do recalls to redo this horrific paint job. Started when I was still leasing it only 4 months in. The guys at Woburn Toyota told me it was my fault that a shopping cart must’ve hit it. I told him I don’t even do the food shopping, my husband does that. I even park my car far away so it won’t get hit especially when it’s brand new. Since then it’s been a great car but constantly peeling. I just got a 2023 highlander in black 4 months ago and questioned them about my white Rav 4. They told me to contact Toyota but I can’t reach them. Do you have la phone number to call. The number I called which is on recall sheet wasn’t helpful. I was on hold back m forth for 28 min till the line went dead. They are making this so hard. Any suggestions? They never sent out another letter yet to me. Still have first one.

I would not have made this video to tell everyone misinformation. First off, you should read the comments on this video to get an idea of the true hassle people are dealing with to get the warranty/recall honored What Toyota dealership do you work for? I’m sure anyone reading this comment would flock to your dealerships to get this paint peel issue resolved hassle free. The experience that most people and I have had working with in particular with Southern California Toyota dealerships have been extremely dishonest and not willing to honor this recall in-full, giving alternative like “we’ll only respray effected panels” or simply refusing to send the vehicle out to there “recommend body shop”. But it’s cool, we found the way to have Toyota to cover the entirety of the re-spray (excluding front and rear bumpers) thereby resolving the issue. Everyone with effected cars will be able to do this. Stay tuned for the follow up video!

@@jjvdz I love in south Florida, at one of the biggest dealer and they honor the zkg program. In speaking to them. They understand that doing some panels is a waste of time. To have the car come back in the future. So we do the whole thing. They even provide rental for these customers. All they do is limit. How many cars we can do per month

@@TheOminous0209 can you post the address of the dealership? Two of the Toyota dealerships near me said they would only paint “specific” parts that are peeling

@@paulcepeda4853 now all though some panels may not be treated for the peeling, which could be your case but we paint the whole vehicle. Except plastic parts

@@jjvdz this may vary from state to state. But we have more work than we can handle doing these. The whole part of suppressing is funny. Toyota is loyal to their customer and they want to keep people from buying from them. At our dealer we are trained to look at the vehicle and advise the customer about this defect
