Very well done, you would put many main dealerships to shame. Tenacity, skill and perseverance combined with thoroughly completing the job to prevent reoccurrence. Well done.
You are a lifesaver! I took my Toyota Vanguard 2010 (Stretch version of the Rav4) for angine and body power wash, and water entered that place (I didn't know). The car would not start, got stuck on the road. My first thought was something entered water in the engine. I was looking forward to a very stressful and hefty repair bill. When I bumped into this video, I fixed it myself. Just opened that same place, removed the cable connectors, and found it waterlogged. Let it dry. did all you did on yours, and just like magic, the car started, and its working fine. All thanks to you.
Read my post above. I had pressure washed my car, and water entered at this part of my Vanguard ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rsfccv93MPM.html . I disconnected them all, let them dry in the sun, reconnected everything, and my car started.
I had the same issue with the same type of car , toyota rav4 three days ago , but my case was with all the entry and start system working but the key does not start the car except if you touch the start button with it , after a health report generated by my launch x431 , there is no dtc at all so i was by my self with that car and no help at all , i dig into the diagnostic and used that function to check the antennas , and find that the front antenna was not working , found either that i can start the car when i put the key on top of the rear seat , so i was able to realize that my front antenna is not working , i told the costumer to buy a new one or i can swap for him the antenna from the rear luggage comp to the front as a temporary fix . Thanks for sharing that
Well done Luis . Logical thinking and a successful repair . For me personally one of your better uploads . I work on a bunch of cars that have been in accidents and I am used to seeing this . Not saying that yours was in an accident but water is always a point of consideration . Great job Luis .
Very helpful troubleshooting video. I have same Rav (US version) and had a no start condition. Thanks to you I found I had same issue with water causing corrosion in the connectors on that same junction block. Source was sunroof. Got it to run, but couldn't get any smart fob functions to work. Don't have a high end scan tool, so I had to take it to the dealer. Ended up that the BMC control module was fried. $1400 later, it's all fixed. PS, my misus moans about helping me too! :) Thanks again for capturing this.
Looks a bit like flood damage at some point in the vehicles life ! (And definitely leaking at the rear )Parking sensor kit has been fitted at the dealership just thrown in ( seen this before ) first class Diagnostic skills once again ...enjoyed The Video ...👍
Must be a Toyota thing, lots of their OEM options are actually dealer-fitted aftermarket kits. My personal favourite is the towbar electric kit for older models where you basically get another indicator flasher and a big fat green LED to literally drill into the dash. I guess it might be because some options are not very popular in Japan and they do not want to develop a more integrated solution for the EU/UK market.
Very good find. You have the patience of a saint. I've seen the same sort of thing a few months after the Handy Pandy car wash types have been cleaning the interior with a jetwash. It looks like the roof bar fittings have been designed by BMW 😁 The question is how far would you go without the visible signs in the roof.
Had an issue with a leak all the damage was at the front but the leak was at the back, only explanation is parking on a downward slope and water running with gravity along the roof. Confirmed with customer he parks facing down on a hill outside his house and then flat surface at work.
Congratulations. So with a zafira that even im608 pro could not make the remote coded and 3 other old keys also the remote part would not work. What would you do? I was thinking er? When im608 pro said hold key by receiver but never said turn ignition off first. Key in ignition but wants it held by receiver. A call to vauxhall revealed the receiver was behind drivers kick panel
Hi, you suggested replacing the corroded pins, however i have in the past found it very difficult to buy them, where is the best place to buy just the pins?
@LM Auto Repairs I have the same.l issue my car is not detecting the key. I don't think there is leak in term of water but you recommend to check the driver side lower area to fix this issue ? I really need some help
I would to start with... Otherwise check the basics... make sure the battery on the key is good, check fuses etc... scan the car and analyse live data... 👍👍👍
This shows crearly why the cars with a lot of electronics have a lot of troubles. The manufacturers treat the inside modules like they would be inside of a house, not inside of a car. What i mean is the manufacturers should invest some money to make the connectors and modules inside the habitacle at least splash proof...
I have the same issue with my toyota voxy, I've checked all the connectors and junctions,no corrosion but the car doesn't communicate with the key when i do the test.what might be the problem? please help
Hi mate I have similar issue on 2021 Isuzu Dmax. Both remotes work fine. But the keyless entry on both doors doesn’t work and when you try to start the car showing key battery dead but I have changed the key battery twice :(
According to owner manual 2 at each front doors passenger & driver and one under the centre console I look at the under the centre console it look fine no water or corroded plus my remote works for unlock and lock. And also I can remote start the car but the keyless entry won’t work and I have to put the fob on the push start to start the car. Do you know what fuses I should be checking ? Thank you
@@LMAutoRepairs Ok, i solved it. seems like even tho battery seems to be good, doors open, radio works and all ,the instrument lightning is good etc. The Security system didin't go off, i changed the battery and BOOM, started right off. no issues now. changed batteris on the keys, no affect but i had some issues with the battery because the fuel heater didin't run, wasn't heating. NO other signs of dead battery. Usually when battery not good the car cranks but no start. This was what was confusing me.
I have a similar issue to to this on 2007 rav4, my keys work perfectly locking wise the buttons on the doors work, the only issue is i have to point the key next to the start button as you have to start the car, both keys have brand new batteries in, any ideas?
There is different places... depends on the manufacturer as well... I use HGS as my to go place... bug even there, there is missing stuff on some cars... 👍👍👍
My key is being detected but when I hold the brakes down and press the button I hear no starter sound or anything turning over and when they spark it from the front it turns over but wont turn on
What’s up with these dealers not have service appointments? I have a new BMW with less than 400 miles that has a mad front end wobble and I was given the same 3 week nonsense , They said they sold most of their loaner fleet which was normally 40 to 50 cars . Unreal.
I working on the same fault on 2008 Highlander hybrid. The remote not working,I changed remote battery but still not working,it can’t start the car if I use remote to touch the knob it doesn’t say anything, I do auto scan the machine communicate only smart unit and it gives me dis faults code b2289/b2784/b278A. Pls I need your help to solve this issue
Hi It looks like you have a wiring issue... Check the antenna coil and communication lines between the power source control ecu and the transponder key ecu... Obviously check fuses, power and grounds first... 👍👍👍
@@LMAutoRepairs you are very good at what you do. I'm a 32 year old qualified mechanic I usually do clutches gearboxes, bearings, timing belts/ chains. But want to get more into the electrical I'm struggling to find where to start.
@@thebiker2655 I learned most of it as I go along... A lot is common sense, and think and understand how it works, to then attempt to fix it... I have no qualifications at all on any of it... But I love the fault finding and repairs of this type of stuff... which I do on my free time... 👍
I only follow a handful of channels on RU-vid you come to the top of my list. I can tell you have a passion for what you do keep up the good work. Best be said keep your hands dirt. :)
Thank god you didn't have to reprogram the keys as it's near impossible what a stupid procedure you have to go through it's crazy to have to program the keys
The water in plugs is a know problem on a lot Toyotas . They make cut corner engineering since 2005 . Failing fuel injector is another one they used 3 us$ injectors on cars to cut cost .
@@LMAutoRepairsah yes not to mention the water pool in the trunk you discovered which the root cause was from the roof rail bolts - awesome video very helpful, I’m having the same issue and I have taken it to a mechanic and car key fob specialist to no avail. So with this knowledge will take it again in morning to the mechanic lets see how it goes - thanks again mate will update here again tomorrow 🙏😊
Well on Toyota's smartkey systems, the key normally replies back to the vehicle through the radio receiver module, then the receiver module sends key info to the smartkey ecu, the smartkey ecu talks to the key through antennas or oscillators, so in your case the "no key detected "massage on the cluster, and you have to bring the key closer to the push button to start the vehicle. That's typical key info was not reach to the smartkey ecu,
I'm not saying that you're wrong, I watched already you found corroded pins at the connector Wright? Good 👍👍, my point here was explain that Toyota's smartkey system is one of the most complex system ever, because they split their system to so many modules, certification ecu, power source ecu, body control ecu, id box. Steering lock ecu, radio receiver ecu, oscillators, toyota and lexus has these modules on their smartkey system
