in this video I go over all of the safety sense systems and the differences between them. I will show you how to use the systems to be safer and describe the precollision system.
As a new Toyota sales rep, I have to say your TSS 2.0 presentation should be a required portion of the Toyota certification curriculum. Well done sir & thank you.
I just stumbled upon your channel. I seriously think instead of that bigass book that comes with the car they should have these videos inside the LCD panel for vehicle manual. Thanks for doing this. Everything makes so much more sense.
thanks for making this videos i just went to a long drive then suddenly i tried to test, the cruise control lane departure assist and pre collision.with your video it made it easy to do all those things.thanks for the videos. God bless

Thinking about getting a Toyota camery hybrid in the next couple of week. It has the 2.5+ system on it. You made up my mind on a purchase. Trading in a Toyota camery hybrid 2014.5. I loved the car. Reliable and great on gas. Keep the videos rolling!
Awesome video Steven! Thank you for this. I have a question regarding the pre-collision system. How sensitive is it? Say if I am pulling into my garage and park really close to the garage wall, will the car consider that as an imminent collision and actually stop the car before I hit the brake?
Hi Steve, great video like many of your others. I just bought an used 2019 RAV4 XLE last week and am wondering how to enable or check if the previous owner disabled the safety features like lane assist, anti-collision, etc. Thanks a lot! 😀
This is exactly what I was looking for. I drive a semi and it has “pre-collision” system (they call it “collision mitigation”). With that system, as cars cut in front of you it beeps to let you know you’re close to the vehicle . In heavy traffic it beeps a lot because obviously cars are cutting in front all the time. In my Avalon there’s no beeping. So I wasn’t sure if my pre-collision is working. Will it beep to warn you when you get close to another vehicle? If so, how close? I haven’t heard it beep once so how do I know it’s working?
Hi Steven, Awesome educational video! I have a question please: I'm currently considering the 2021 Highlander Platinum AWD. Is the Intersection Support feature on TSS 2.5+ basically a different name for what other manufacturers (BMW, Audi, Mazda) call Front Cross Street Alert? As in you will get a warning if you are making a turn onto a cross street and a vehicle is coming into your path from either the left or right side? Because in Toyota's video of this feature they only show a vehicle coming towards you head on while making a left turn..and not on your left or right sides. Yet..TSS 2.5+ is supposed to protect pedestrians while drivers make left or right turns on a cross street. I'd like to assume if it is protecting pedestrians left and right it will protect you from vehicles when merging on a cross street left or right but I know better than to assume anything on a safety system. Thanks for a response as I need a vehicle with a Front Cross Street Alert system due to having to merge daily on a cross street always seemingly full of speeding cars with texting drivers.
Is the ICS system the same as the Parking Support Break Function? I have been trying to find a way to disable the automatic breaking system so that I can back up in my 2020 Rav4 when my bikes are on a hitch mounted bike rack. I could not find a ICS option. I have not tried disabling PSBF on a fully loaded rack.
If you have the adaptive cruise on, and need to get off on an exit, does it kick off if you break? Then if you want to resume back to the speed before you hit the break before the ramp, do you hit resume? Do you have to turn back on lane keep assist as well? Also, can you get a power passenger seat in the RAV4 limited? Gosh, for $40,000 you think it would be there.
The cruise will work just like old style cruise for resume and braking to cancel etc. Lane departure is active as long as you have it enabled and are traveling over 32 mph. Passenger side seat is 4 way manual
Hi Steve I have a question. I have 2022 Highlander XLE AWD. When using adaptive cruise control and the vehicle starts slowing down/breaking does the break lights come on alerting the vehicle from behind? Also with pre-collision when activated does the rear break lights come on alerting the vehicle from behind? So you are not rear ended from behind.........
@@stevenwelchtoyota Thank you so very much Steve. We purchased our new 2022 Toyota at the end of June and I have been looking at all your videos. You are truly the best! Totally love all your content!
i notice in stop and go traffic my Venza 2021(TSS 2.0) the radar cruise needs me to press the throttle again to move from a stop when the car in front starts moving. Is there a setting to let it move automatically ?
no it wants to make sure you are paying attention before moving. it is not ment to be a autonomous vehicle even though in reality the technology is there where it probably would be good
@@stevenwelchtoyota thank you for the quick reply. I read that PCS was only on when using dynamic cruise, but that may have been in reference to an older TSS system.
How does the Rav regulate its speed when following a car (as that car slows and speeds up)? Is the Rav braking or using the accelerator to adjust speed?
How does the car sense lane tracing? Can the sensor get covered and cause issues? My tracing on the 2021 sienna this morning wasn't working, but was in the afternoon just fine.
@@stevenwelchtoyota The camera used for those functions can be disrupted by poor weather. I’ve noticed that on my Toyota Yaris with similar kit, under heavy rain or snow. It displays the relevant error message on the multi information display when it happens. Of course, if the road lane markings are invisible on account of the weather, it just knows nothing about it!
Is the rd making the car shake, or why is it shaking when your driving. Do all hybrid vehicles do that. We just got the Corolla hybrid LE the brand new one. Unfortunately were freaking out over driving it due to probably a safety feature. The accelerator and brake pedal depressed simultaneously message and orange icon came on when trying to out of the parking lot. My husband was pressed on brake really hard. And a point about the brakes I live in a state where thier brake happy and people pull out in front of you when your driving down the rd, so hopefully these so called pre collision brakes will work and stop the from hitting another car when it matters most because we cant afford even a collision that's caused by someone else.
It was my mount that did that. I plan on remaking the video with a gopro. The ride is very smooth. If you push the brake and gas at the same time smart stop technology will take over overriding the accelerator
@@stevenwelchtoyota thank you so muchhh I keep trying to get in depth answers or videos about the regular le but most RU-vid video like walk throughs are about the xle or the hybrid etc etc. so thank you for clearing that up for me !
i understand, and you mentioned it on the video. i have the Highlander XSE. i’m just wondering, if it does suppose to give you a warning “BRAKE” sign or beep sound when while you’re driving closer to the vehicle ahead of you. because it does on 21 Avalon. even when the vehicle is on full stop, when there’s a person or object in front of the vehicle. it will give warning or beep sound right away. doesn’t it work like that on the 21 Highlander XSE? i asked and tried this on the dealership. but it doesn’t work like it on the Highlander. please give me an insight regarding this, since i’ve been figuring it out since i purchased my vehicle. thanks.
Does safety sense give out audio warning that you are too close to the car or pedestrian in front of you. I have Safety sense 2 but I don't get any audio warning at all.
It would not feel any different to you. It is meant to help if you are loosely holding the wheel or are being inattentive. You can even change lanes without the signal without a fight as long as you are in control of the vehicle
If you take your hands off the steering wheel for more than eight seconds, does the lane tracing turns off? The reason I ask is for sleepy drivers is this still maintaining them in lane?
This shit is sick AF. My son just bought a Toyota Corolla. He badly needs this feature. He has only been driving 1 year and has had one bumper tap (his fault), then his just totaled his 2nd Gen Prius by pulling out into traffic and thought it was clear.
it is an amazing system. it saved my wife and i from a bad wreck. i told the story here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BYG7NWTcqGE.html
@@stevenwelchtoyota My new Tacoma with 1200 miles on the odo did this to me two days ago. I've seen so many gushing reviews but few discussions about how startling and potentially dangerous it is to have the system false alarm and/or slam the brakes for no reason. From various forums it sounds like this is a fairly common occurrence! I'd have foregone the system if there were a choice. Will be buying a TSS adapter and short-term subscription to lock it out. It's like a smoke alarm that goes off at 2am for no reason, except smoke alarms won't get you rear-ended.
WOW why can’t us new Toyota owners have that nice split screen on my 2023 venza limited instead of a useless large Google map, which just takes you from a2b. No cool themes no split screen no detailed content on the interstates. ITS JUST THE WORST AND HORRIBLE.!
