Thank you, KG Auto. I just replaced the thermostat and couldn't have done it without your video. A few notes for other people in the same boat: 1) He's totally right about other videos showing the thermostat on the driver's side. If you have a 2007 or newerish, then it's on the passenger's side. 2) To slip out the belt from the pully, put a 14mm wrench on the tensioner and turn the nut back toward the windshield. This will put enough slack into the belt to slide it out from under the pulley. Just make sure you make a mental note on how the belt slides under the pulley and over the roller in front of it. When you put it back, it needs to sit nicely into the grooves. Triple check that the belt is sitting correctly because it's the biggest risk in this procedure. 3) I didn't empty the coolant to do this. A bit spilled out when I removed the thermostat but no big deal. 4) One of the 10mm nuts that holds in the housing is a real pain because you can't see it with the housing in the way. Take your time or else make sure you've got a spare 10mm nut on hand.
I am baffled as how to take off the belt. That part was fully skipped but is the key to accessing everything else. I’ve goggled and watch so many videos and still can’t figure it out. I could hardly get the pulley off because of the belt. Now the belt is so tight that the pulley will never go back on. Help!! You say to release the tension. But how??
Thanks for reaching out, to take off that belt you have to use 14 Socket with long reach, Counterclockwise, tune it to the firewall, please support us by subscribing 👍🙏
I'm so mad! My mechanic changed the water pump only. Now my thermostat needs changing because it reads hot cold hot cold. Now I have to pay him again to change it when it could've been 1 price. God I hope he doesn't charge me another 200.😢 I really want to change myself but this looks complicated & I don't have all the tools. 😢
