In a perfect world yes. That would be the best ram air. Where I live we have dirty driving conditions and to many rocks, loose gravel, dust / dirt to run no air filter. Track days a lot of guys do it though
That’s not really true at all on the 2jzgte vvti. Depends what you think big power is. VVTI engines are better in my opinion. They are still good to 1000hp and are way more responsive ( hit boost at least 500rpm sooner ). My car has hit 30psi all day long for years and years of abuse on stock bottom end and valve train with zero issues. Tuners just don’t like them because they are much harder to tune. Now a days you see lots of guys adding variable valve timing to the older engines because the drivability is just so much better. Lots of guys swapping the complete 2jzgte vvti engines in lots of the older years too! If they are going to all that work that tells you how good they are 👌
Thanks for the kind words. My advice is just take it slow making lots of small cuts and you should be ok. I was nervous about my light holding up at higher speeds and rough roads but it’s been great so far! Definitely helps keeping the intake air temps down on turboed cars running high boost levels. Good luck man.
I haven’t data logged it yet. Shortly after this mod my rear diff failed and I’m still waiting for parts unfortunately. My parts have been on back order since Nov of last year.
I used mostly silicone. A small amount of super glue on the back side of the headlamp. It’s still holding strong many years later. Lots of high speed racing and no issues.
It’s just generic 4 inch aluminum intercooler pipe that I cut and welded into shape. I heat wrapped it because it got so hot I couldn’t even touch the pipe without burning myself. Just trying to keep intake air temps as low as possible. 2jzs run hot!
