DON’T BE CHEAP : DON’T FORGET that you are looking a car which will be your HOME for several months, COMFORT is nice to have AND you can SELL it after your trip !
GOOD TO KNOW : We can exchange the money Via a EUROPE Bank account so we can minimise exchange rates, although we have also a NZ bank account.
*WHAT DO IT HAVE - MORE THAN OTHER VANS ?
- INSULATED on the back (wall doubled and insulated, curtains and windows doubled too).
- ELECTRICITY and WATER pump (thanks to a second portable battery. So it has LIGHTS inside, facilities to CHARGE your phone and camera (up to 300V), a SHOWER and dishwashing facilities). When you are not close to camping ground facilities (often) this is VERY convenient.
- a SINK with a flexible hose and showerhead and two TANKS (one 25L for good water and one of 17L for dirty water).
- A good GAS COOKER with a GAS BOTTLE with which you can cook INSIDE (most people have to cook outside, and with the NZ weather being often windy and rainy, this is not so easy).
- a SUN ROOF (window in the roof) to watch the stars with MUSIC (a STEREO is included inside the back of the Van).
- SPEAKERS and RADIO in the in the front of the Van too with MP3 link to put your music.
- a ROOF BOX for storage.
- Two nice ROAD MAPs of New Zealand : one about North Island, the second about South Island with all our advice about Freedom camping and nice stuff to do.
- A cooler bin with 5 freezable blocks (your useful fridge!)
- One GUITAR, One soccer ball, Two TENNIS Rackets, One GOLF club and a lot of books in English (ERAGON, Thriller, TWILIGHT, LORD OF THE RINGS, Alex Rider, etc…) to practice and use the heaps of solitary time that you will have in your travels.
*WHAT’S NICE TOO?
-WOF & REGISTRATION valids (15/08/15 and 20/07/15). Only two cracks on the windshield but fixed and accepted by the WOF.
- The Brand is good : TOYOTA TOWNACE : the engine parts are easy and cheap to find for this model, the TOYOTA company is strong (and TOYOTA is the main brand in New Zealand).
- The MOTOR works well even if it’s old. We changed the Air Filter, the Petrol Filter, the SPARK PLUGS and had the Wheel alignment checked. The car doesn’t ask for more OIL and WATER : (we checked often but filled just once in one year).
- Relatively low KILOMETERS for the age of the car 275 000km : it’s the first time the van was used for a backpacker trip so it's tidy and in good condition.
- Two TARPAULINS : one for your private shower or any other use AND one for the marquee/Porch roof already fixed.
- EVERYTHING to live daily: for cooking (Dishes, cutlery, bowls, frypan, pot, etc.), for clothes washing, for sleeping (pillow, sheet, blanket), TABLE and CHAIRS, etc.
