I think you took the right approach. I did similar on my TRD PRO as I put 285/75R18 Duratracs (which are truly 35 inches tall but just narrower)on my stock TRD PRO rims . I didn't have to chop or remove anything but I do have very slight rubbing on my front sway bar at Full Lock of the steering wheel. Fortunately I rarely need to turn full lock but if I had rims with less positive offset I don't think it would hit my sway bar @ full lock
@4WDisLife
@4WDisLife 2 года назад
That’s good to know, I always see trdpro trucks with the 285/75r18 being the sweet spot for 35s, and lots of people say they don’t rub, but I had nothing to test it out since I went straight to a 315/70r17. But yes just pushing the wheels out tiny bit (not too much to the point where it rubs more on the front and back side of the front tires) definitely would help.

Thinking of doing 285/75/18 on my stock TRD OR rims with 1.25” spacers. Have a 3” lift in front. Think I’ll avoid rubbing?? I’d love to do 295/70/18, but if I have to do a BMC I might fail inspection in my state.
@dalephillips8250
@dalephillips8250 2 месяца назад
@rjnoj-xb5kq I think you'll be fine on that especially since you have spacers. TRD PRO is only 2 inches higher than other stock models and mine has been pretty much fine 32K miles and going.

thank you. Front has 1.9inch lift and rear has 1inch
@GeorgeK1410
@GeorgeK1410 2 года назад
Do you think the 2" Lift was completely necessary, or it was the mudflap and heatgun that did 99% of the rub removal job? I'd like to not have to replace any OEM parts right now on my new Tundra. I had the 315/70/17s on my previous truck that was a RAM, and they looked incredible. They are also WAY cheaper and more available than 18" tires/rims.
@4WDisLife
@4WDisLife 2 года назад
To be honest I think the wheel spec is more important than the lift, but I also think it may run just a bit if not lifted.
@GeorgeK1410
@GeorgeK1410 2 года назад
@@4WDisLife I appreciate the response. Are you of the opinion that a 2.5" leveling kit in the front adds undue stress to the suspension system and that parts should be replaced, or that's too small of a modification?
@4WDisLife
@4WDisLife 2 года назад
@@GeorgeK1410 I am not a fan of the spacer lifts, I would definitely prefer the suspension lift over the spacers, but that’s just me. But then I still call my suspension lift a leveling kit because I only lifted the front to begin with.

So I'm looking at doing some 315/70r17's on my Tundra. I'm considering some wheels that come in two offsets, either a 15mm or a 35mm. Which do you think would require the least amount of modifications? I'm also not wanting to do the BMC. Thanks!
@4WDisLife
@4WDisLife 2 года назад
Out of the two offsets I believe the 35mm would give you less trouble assuming the wheel width isn’t too wide which would affect the backspacing too. But normally a 25mm would be the sweet spot, if I have to choose between 15mm and 35mm I’d go with 35mm
@MidnightMiata

I have a 2015 double cab. have the bilstein 5100 at max setting in front and rear is +1 inch i believe and also coach builder shackles. I also have the front bumper spacers so i'm hoping i should be able to clear a 35" K02 or similar. I know the K02's run small. Anyone know how much performance and mpg loss when up sizing to 35" ? I might just go to 33" or 34" to not lose performance if its going to feel much slower sluggish

Question I’m running your setup on my CM. I know you stated that the 315/70r17 has narrow Tire threads But I ordered the 35x12.5r17 not double checking the order sheet, will it work like the 315/70r17 on the icon rebound with out bmc? I can still change the kO2 order but if I can get away with it without rubbing and flexing issues, I’m going to go thru with the 35x12.5r17. Thanks. A taller Tire then the factory size and not changing the gear ratio in the differentials get ready for a new transmission because the clutchs burn up having to work harder and build more heat and definitely worse fuel mileage
