I received a lot of questions about trim levels. I hope this helps the potential Tundra buyers out there! Thanks for watching! Like/Comment/Share/Subscribe Twitter/Instagram @TundraDude34
My father-in-law purchased a 1794 Tundra. It is so comfortable!!! :) I love the interior colors and all the leather. Just the outside brownish color isn't my thing. That truck in black would have been amazing.
I did it finally after about year looking seen many used and nothing really that good we did numbers and I got last night 2020 SR5 TRD Sport at 1.9% at 5 years 43k its best I think I’m so happy and like to say thank you for information on your channel
Good video! I'm torn between Limited Crewmax or 1794/Platinum. Upper trim levels have power mirrors, which is a huge thing for me since I have a smaller garage I gotta share with my wife's van. The seat coolers aren't a must have, but would be nice., but most of all the quality of the leather in the Plat/1794 looks superior to the Limited. Hard choice!
All of you are wrong! Platinum crewmax. Leather, gps, rear window goes all the way down, moonroof, wood trim and sensors. Luxury all the way. 2011 platinum tundra!!!
Great job on the info in your videos! Question for you, can you get a sunroof/moonroof on a TRD Pro? Don't know if I missed that part in the VID. Thank you in advance!
+Davin Ruiz unless you live in Canada, the TRD Pro doesn't have a moonroof option. In Canada, the Pro has a moonroof and blind spot monitoring. Im jealous lol
I had a 2014 SR5 Club Cab that we purchased to tow back our lives from South Texas. It was purchased in 2016. It was an incredible truck. Power, luxury, speed, comfort, and my wife and I really enjoyed having it. I traded in, in 2017 for a RAV4 for my wife as went down to a one car family for awhile. We both really missed owning a Tundra. Last month I traded in my 2018 Toyota CHR XLE Premium for a used 2015 Tundra, Crewmax, Limited Edition. It had a little over 53,000 miles. We LOVE IT!!!!! The person that traded it in just put a brand new 3” lift/level kit with new tires and rims! Interesting is not that is is lifted it is much easier to park as we can both see over the front and back easier. I only traded in my last Tundra because my wife really struggled parking it. She is 5’2” on a good day. This used 2015 with the lift/level kit has changed the entire dynamics for her. She can now park it easily as can I. I wasn’t worried about the mileage. I know this Truck will last a long time. I told my wife, the goal is for me to get it to 500,000 miles. I believe it is possible. It has had all of it’s maintenance. I don’t have any plans to drive it hard. It’s my daily driver. Nothing like a Tundra.
The truck I am looking at is the TRD SPORT crew max in that bright red no chrome but with the TRD suspension and sway bars! I am not a Sun or moon roof person (if you like them that's ok) but I like that power back window! Wow !!!
Got 2021 limited 2 days ago drove it home trd 4x4,got the skid plates for fuel and engine , tinted window , led head light gun shoe metallic grey upgrade rims nice ,bed liner ,locking tailgate ,this the double cab with some already nice upgrades and the back seat is very big,and still get the 6.5 foot bed instead of that little tiny one and there other mods ,so a little different then your standard limited so very happy,no put k&n filter sea foam in engine and fuel to squeeze out a few more mpg,so all in all very happy and got it for 43 thousand end of month sale 6 miles on her
Specifically a 2020 ‘first year push button start’ cement grey exterior crewmax with limited trd off road package with grey leather interior. Limited because it has the 38 gallon fuel tank as standard. Thats the best value combo in my opinion.
Have 16 limited crewmax love it flow master dual exhaust navi ect... but where I messed up and didnt pay attention since I test drove 4 in 1 day is the 1 I bought was only wheel drive kinda regretting it but I really dont go 4x4ing mostly just hauling which I just learned the 2wd hauls more weight but has been a damn good truck to me and never left me stuck
I had a 2015 SR5 Crew Max 4x4 and it was nicely optioned. But then they had a awesome deal on the Limited 4x4 Crew Max and traded my SR 5 in for it. It has a bunch more options then the SR and I add the TRD rear sway bar, the bed LEDs and tailgate auto lock. Since having these two Crew Max's I can never go back to a DBL Cab.
I agree exactly with you. Getting a tundra soon. And hopefully getting a limited crew max with the off road package. Best bang for the buck. You do not get that much more for the higher packages.
Love the Videos, but here is where I am torn, I've had the 2011 Tundra CM Platinum (non 4x4), and hated they I had to get rid of it. However, I will be in the market to get into a 2016/2017 Tundra. However here is where I am torn: I love the TRD Pro, CM, but doesn't have moon roof, or memory seats (I know, that is Platinum and 1794 only). But I consider that a luxury feature, which the the limited is the mid range luxury version, but doesn't have the memory seats. So the thought is settle with the Limited, with the leather, moonroof, navigation, safety monitor, and jus add the TRD Off-Road with TRD Pro Suspension and Dual Exhaust? Oh and upgrade the gas tank to the 38 Gallon? Any Thoughts?
Thx for the info, I’ve leased three Tacoma TRD and ready to buy outright, but I want a big boys toy, no more Tacoma’s. I’ve been doing a lot of RU-vid research and have been disappointed by what I’ve seen, especially in the mpg (☹️)! Not really sure if I’m going to be able to stick with Toyota, my wife has been helping me with my research and she’s telling me something that I already know...
Think of it this way. 100,000 mi at 15 mpg average, and let's say gas is $3/gal. $20,000 Similar 1/2 ton truck with a V6 turbo (like American makes or the 2022 Tundra) will likely need serious work (forced induction = faster wear!) so while you may be paying a tad less for gas but you'll almost surely pay the difference (if not more) for engine work. If you don't like either, and don't need the ~10,000 tow cap, the Tacoma/4Runner platforms are still amazing. I'd have one if I didn't haul big trailers
I traded my 2016 Silverado for the 2019 limited Crew Max TRD off road I love it, Night and day difference And although I was at the dealership for 7 hours the sticker was 51 here in South Carolina I walked out the door at 40 and a 1/2 with my trade in at pay off
I personally think Limited crewmax is the best bang for your buck because of all the extras for not that much more IMO especially if your selective dealer is more concerned with volume rather than overall price because they need to turn cars Which means you could get a better price
Went down Saturday to test drive a 2017 CM Platinum. It is a very nice truck but I couldn't buy it because of the Bracket recall. I had another appointment with a different dealer for a Platinum also. Theirs couldn't be sold either. They asked me to look at the show floor queen. It was a 2017 SR5 CM with a Pro Comp 7"lift with 37" tires. The gril was aftermarket with Rigid Led's.It has custom leather seats. I didn't ask but they pulled it out of the showroom so I could test drive it. It was a nice truck but I still wanted a Platinum. I said I would wait for a Platinum. They really wanted to sell me that SR5 so they worked out a deal. I ended up buying it. I wish it had the moon roof. The package they put on is nice. You can see it on Tundras.com. Look in the new members section. Just wanted to thank Tundra dude for all his videos. They really helped in my Tundra research.
I got lucky and found a 2021 SR5, with the XSP trim package, 40k miles. The only thing I’m doing to it is color matching the grill and hood bulge and possibly the wheels because the ones on it are scared up. And I’m looking at doing some kind of bed storage because it doesn’t have any storage space, like my Tacoma had.
I love you what I have now, which is the SR5 Crewmax with the SR5 upgrade package plus the TRD swaybar. My only regret is that I didn't have the dealer install the TRD dual exhaust, and spray in bedliner. oh well, I can still get it, just that now it'll take me longer to get them.. 😭😭😭
Best value is a Canadian Sr5 Plus package with the TRD Offroad Package. I just picked up a 2018 SR5 Plus with moonroof, led headlights and foglights, heated cloth seats and a block heater (that I will probably never use...) and with the TRD Offroad package with 300 miles on it for $39k. Loving it so far.
Hello quick question hope i dont get roasted for this lol...do all of the 2014 and up 5.7 tundras have the tow haul mode? Thanks im in the market for one
I'd love the limited crewmax with the trd package in white but I'm going to wait until they clearance out the 20s next year because I want the apple car play.
+Brandon Greely Tss is an appearance Package only offered in the SouthEast. The TRD Off Road package gives bilstein shocks, skid plates, sr5 upgrade package and its available nationwide (and canada)
I'm looking for some insight on a tundra...this car search has taken me ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! but it's ended me up here between ford f150 and tundra...it seems like tundra has the best reliability but I don't understand much more than that...i want the most power out of this vehicle and it can't have any leather what so ever...can you tell me about why it's better and any ways to save or spend money on an sr5 crewmax max? can I get a super charger for a 2017 from trd without voiding the warranty? this is my first big car purchase and I'm doing it basically alone
IMO trundra all day everyday over f150. Those ecoboost engines can be hit and miss with reliability. The 5.7 liter Toyota engine is tried and true. Over a decade old and performs long term.
I'm pretty happy with my 4x4 limited crewmax magnetic grey trd off packages $43k with moonroof, heated seat, navigation, rear power window, safety features. Covered all the must have compared to the next trim level a platinum that cost $10k more! By the way what other features does the platinum have other than the driver seat setting and painted front bumper as I recall?!
+Conrad 29 you might have some of these as well but 12 speaker jbl system, heated and cooled seats, lexus grade leather, power folding mirrors, led drl, they may be it. Limited is the best of both worlds for sure 👍🏼
yes, I agree 100% on your 2 pics. However, looking at used Tundras, I'm not seeing much difference in price between the Platinum and the SR5 with TRD packages. Perhaps the Limited with the TRD package is the way to go. I get the leather seats that way.
I'm in Nashville and looking to buy my second Tundra but there's not much to choose from around here in the used Market in the 25 to $30,000 range. As I look out into Texas there's way more available and the prices seemed considerably lower. Can anyone verify that or have any experience with that? Don't really want to drive that far to get a truck but ....
Just got my 17 Limited CrewMax. Really wanted the TRD Pro but there was a long wait list and I couldn't wait longer to get my dream truck! Traded in my 13 FRS. Love the Limited's heated front seats, moonroof, sonar and blind spot monitor :) still waiting for the TRD PRO grill that my dealer promised me lol. They also added running boards which made me accept the deal.
TundraDude34 thanks! Subscribed to your channel, hehe keep posting more Tundra videos I like it! Checking out for accessories or tonneau cover to get next!
TundraDude34 wow! Thanks for saying that. Your vids helped me made my final decision. Haha to think about I almost went to a Ford F-150 Lariat after the dealer said I'm 3rd on a list for a PRO and he said we could just build something similar with a Limited I'm so glad I stick with my Tundra! Driving Toyotas since I got my learners permit. Corolla, Rav4, TC, Lexus, FRS, now my dream Truck.
I am finding in the local area north of Tronoto Canada that the Pro version now are sitting on the dealership lot a bit longer . Not so much the case when they were new to the market they sold over night.
Sound advice. My 14 SR DC has everything I want (and was welling to spend). The only thing it didn't come with is intermittent wipers. Had I know that, I'd would've got to higher trim. Other than that, it's got what I want
I plan on building a Tundra for Overlanding. Meaning I’m going to be doing a lot of heavy modifications to the truck (Fox shocks with reservoirs, front and rear lockers, CVT bed tent etc). I’m assuming the model I get doesn’t matter since most of the stock stuff is coming out when I put in a lift kit winches, etc. So I’m leaning towards the SR5 Crewmax 4X4. I really want the moon roof, but I’m plan on putting a roof rack up for recovery gear etc. Any opinion guys? Would you guys build a TRD PRO? Seems like a waste if you’re gonna build it heavily.
Thank al to brother. I'm on the website now and its overwhelming. SR5, I'll take a closer look at that one as that was the one I was leaning towards based on my own reasoning. But you reassured it, thank you.
I have another random question that actually may just pertain to buying a vehicle in general. I don't like the wheels that come on the 1794 or the platinum. would I get any kind of credit, or cash back if I wanted after market rims? I don't want to not get credit for brand new wheels and tires.
+Jonathan Marquise one option is get the 1794 TRD, that way you get the sweet 18in trd wheels and all terrain tires instead. Other then that, u can buy the truck and put on after market wheels and tires. Sell the stock ones on ebay or something
the biggest problem I see with the limited and 1794 trims as opposed to the platinum, is the chrome. seems like it'd be easier to black out a platinum.
+Jonathan Marquise i agree but ill be honest, when i had the 1794 TRD for review a few weeks back, I didn't really mind the chrome 🤔 it was a beautiful truck
I guess I didn't appreciate the TRD... or didnt need it, or didnt want to pay for it... or all 3 maybe. I ended up with an sr5+. i do agree with you on the chrome, ive been trying to figure out how i'm going to get rid of it!
i know theres a forum for tundra just like all other cars and trucks but it'd be nice to hear what people are paying for their tundras. I wanna get platinum but they are so damn expensive. So i am looking into used platinum or limited max 4 by 4. whats a good price for anything under say 50K miles have you all seen? I miss my 2011 sr5 everyday but i want to get at least a limited.
Mine is the 2018 TRD OffRoad package - 6.5' box, heated seats, chrome, nav, and all the safety stuff, michellins - great truck - 0% - ! Can't beat that
After watching this im stuck on the trd pro i love the white its just the double cab vs crewmax is killing me i love the bed on the dc but that non sliding back window is making me reconsider the CM
I bought a used 2015 TRD Pro Tundra for 35k with 38000 miles its now worth in the 40,000s because of the chip shortage and demand lol still keeping her
Exactly what parts does the TRD off road package, include,? I'm assuming different shocks etc.? My dad has bought two new tundras, and he can afford whatever package he wants. But Both his trucks have been 5.7's and 4x4, but he doesn't do any real Serious off roading, just goes to the farm to hunt. He drove both and purposely bought both of his trucks without the TRD package, because he said the on road ride was much bette/ smoother, w/out, where he, like most spend 99% of their time. Just curious what all the TRD package includes, because I'm not as old as him(lol) so I don't mind a slightly rougher ride so I'm thinking of upgrading the suspension.
TundraDude34 thanks! So ok, since I'm buying it used, with 18's already on it, it would just be the shocks(which with 130k miles probably are about due for replacement anyways) and skid plates, because the tires are already getting replaced. So for me, besides the shocks and tires which are due to be replaced soon anyway, it's just skid plates and graphics, which I've already debadged the truck so I don't want any graphics. The truck already has some skid plates, including the one that has to be dropped to change the oil, complete pain in the ass btw, but which ones am I missing? And since I'm starting from stock which shocks would you recommend? For the price etc? The Pro? I only want a small lift maybe enough to clear 35's at the absolute biggest, would probably be happy with 33's or 34's. Thx in advance, you got a great channel!
I think the best value is the Limited TRD off-road CrewMax is the best value but a little more pricey than the SR5 TRD off-road CrewMax. I don’t know if it comes with the front bench seat for an extra person but I think the SR5 TRD off-road CrewMax is great n I’m happy with the truck that I recently bought. The only thing that the truck disappointed me is that it doesn’t have any storage under the back seats. But seeing lots of drivers picking up the SR5 TRD off-road CrewMax or double cab, I still feel that its value is just as good as the limited TRD off-road. It’s pretty much the same truck with different features just to balance out the classes. All I have to say is pick up what you want.
Tundra dude is a Trd pros computer diffrant then the limited computer because I added the dual exaust to my limited and the Trd air intake and I wondered if there’s a bit rea cr on how the computer doesn’t know the truck has the added parts where the pro comes with the parts so does the computer know the parts are there?????
Accordung to the Toyota website, yes, you can get the SR5 with a sunroof. I really want the VooDoo blue color but apparently that paint only sticks to the TRD PRO which the suspension is far too soft for towing.
@@TundraDude34 no sir. I'm in California. I say that not only because of the Toyota website but also because my nephew has the SR5 with the sunroof but also because I see them for sale on websites like AutoTrader and CarMax. They are few and in between because its a added option to the SR5 but they are out there. My nephew bought his SR5 new from Folsom Lake Toyota in North California.
@@TundraDude34 well I won't say I'm 100% correct in that. My nephew did purchase it used with less than 4K miles. It could very well be a Canadian transplant for all I know, along with others I see. Next time I see his truck, I'll grab his VIN number and look up where it was first sold. I will say this. If the sunroof is not available on the SR5, then Toyota should state that when I (we) do a online build with our U.S. zip codes in the system.
The problem with crew max is that it’s not offered with a long bed. I don’t currently own a tundra. I need the long bed. So I’m stuck to the double cab in the sr or sr5 package
Looking to buy MY first Tundra (bought my son an '02 Tundra back when he graduated HS). It seems to me the quality of the leather (seats) in the Platinum & 1794 models is far nicer than the that of the Limited model. Have you noticed? And the brown leather of the 1794 hasn't quite grown on me, not with the charcoal exterior anyway. So that leaves the Platinum, only problem is it's the only model Tundra that doesn't offer the TRD pkg which I want. And if the answer is to do the TRD upgrade yourself, doesn't that devalue the truck because it doesn't have the TRD badging? What's a future Tundra owner to do? (I know, I know...buy a Chevy...already own one)
+Ted T haha lots of options here. First, the 1794 and Platinum leather is "Lexus grade". Its the high end stuff. Honestly if i were you, id buy a 1794 TRD in black, white or sunset mica (bronze) Those colors really look good with the tan interior, especially black and white
After a LOT of research I found a 2015 SR5 TRD Double Cab with NAV.. 5.7 and 4x4... . with the Retrax tonneau cover and custom Rhino type bedliner.. Toyo tires... 58000 miles but still looks Brand New.. Toyota Certified and 1 owner ... for .... 31 grand out the door.. here in Fla/Ga. NOW I have since spent $300 for a MBRP exhaust, $300 for a E&B CIA. S240 for the TRD sway bar, and $412 for the N-Fab 3 step nerf bars... $200 for the Silver Hood bulge.. and getting ready to pop on the Pro Grille..lol... AND I really want the TRD or FOX shocks with the reservoirs... Also going to buy Tow Mirrors.. and air bags... I like doing my own work and always mod everything I get to suit my taste... will work on getting rid of more chrome.. BUT I smile and love the sound of my Tundra... Cost me $41.00 for fill my tank today and it will probably last a week.. but I am happy.... all good.... I was a Ford Man back in the day... I own a Tacoma I am selling now... You just can't beat Toyota's dependency.. and I have total protection to 2022... This may be the last truck I will own..
I just bought a 2015 tundra limited because it had all the features we love. I'm gonna get all the emblems and all the chrome off and get them all blacked out. Also install wheels and tires, exhaust, cold air intake, 3in lift and she'll be perfect! Any brand recommendations for the lift, exhaust, cold air intake?
TundraDude34 As far as exhaust sound I'm looking for something that's not gonna wake my neighbors up. Something more mid range, dual exhaust or single will do. Wheels and tires something with enough ply to tow a heavier fishing boat around. If I go with a 3in lift what size rims and tires do you recommend? And what brands for cold air intake are in the mid range for price?
+onelik you have to check out the TRD dual exhaust then. Thats the best of both worlds. Cant go wrong with a K&N intake, and when i had a 3in rough country lift, i had 18" xd rockstar black wheels and 33x12.50x18 toyo open country mud terrains
I went straight to the TRD PRO didnt even look at other models. I already knew what i wanted and that one was the only one on the lot. I love that truck!👍
Limited DC, with the discount I got on my 2015, I got the TRD Pro suspension and exhaust for less than the TRD Pro Tundra. They don’t make deals on TRD Pro trucks. I could care less about cosmetics. I don’t what what the differences will be in 2019 but I’m sure it’s not worth it.
I realize this is an old thread, but now I don’t feel alone for removing those ridiculously large, vision blocking headrests on my Tundra! I never have rear seat passengers, so the “safety team” can rest easy.
Its a Beast of a Truck. Meant to get dirty.... All fancy stuff you get in a luxury platinum/limited is meant for a luxury car.... The Crew Cab SR5 with the off road package is the way to go.... Add on some extras later if you like.
I agree, SR5 Upgrade package is an add-on to the SR5. (Confusing) Not expensive but also provides heated mirrors, 38 gallon gas tank, bucket seats, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, auto-dimming rear view mirror w/Homelink garage door opener, and anti-theft. I don't care about leather, and I really like the fabric on the SR5. If you take double cab, you save a couple thou. Leaving off the 4 wheel drive saves more and gets more towing and payload. The wheels aren't great, but you can get those later.
i guess you nailed it !..SR5 with TRD...and upgrade yourself to a PRO for a few thousand dollars ..only thing you will not have option to upgrade is those vinyl seats with red stitching..[ when scorching hot your skin sticks to them ]. I love my cloth seats. I do have a double cab SR5 with TRD package and here in Canada it came with auto slide to the side on my rear window...too bad i never use it since i installed a color matched canopy from day 1...Wondering since they have the front sway bar option in the 2018 models , if that would fit previous year Tundra models..that would be sweet !!
