They'll take a different size drive shaft, a W58 can easily handle 300-350 horse power, I would even take it up to 400, but anything after that you would be wise to go with the R154. Dad and I each have a 89 Supra, both with W58's, dad's car had a 1JZ vvti, I have a 7MGTE (use to be an automatic), dad sold his car, I'm keeping mine.
this probably wasn't with the w58s found in the mk3 supras and earlier; 91 sc300s and beyond got w58s with bigger bearings and can actually handle the torque of the 1uz there are some mk3 supra w58s that had a steel sandwich plate, but this is no guarantee that they actually got the bigger (and thus stronger) bearings
Amigo. Keep the good work I’m learning a lot of the 2jz engines.. I’m looking for a project car in the future and I’m thinking on getting a Lexus is300
I get the same 2jz gte on my Lexus. Which transmission would you recommend? I’m only thinking of getting 350-400 max on it. I noticed you said the W58 is smoother shifting but that the pressure plates breaks at 400 hp?
Hello! I was wondering if you could messuaure the lenght of the W58 clutch housing for me? Looking to buy a W55 gearbox from a Hilux and fitting it with a 2JZ in my IS200. I know the W55 is one of the wekest gearboxes that fit the 2JZ, but I will only run non-turbo so I think it will be fine. Need the messaurments to know what clutchhousing I will need:
Saludos desde Texas estoy haciendo un mk3 q es 7mge y lo quiero hacer 2jzgte tengo el motor ya visto pero lo que me tiene en pausa es la transmission si cambio la bancasa podré usar la w58 que tiene el carro ya
Hey you are a wealth of knowledge on these mazda pickups, in another video about what your putting in your truck, the axle you said ISUZU rodeo, well got one of those . IT looks like the driveshaft will need shortened , or did you go with a one piece on an extra cab b2200? Haven't got mine quite setup on springs yet center bolt holes are too small need drilling out , minor details
I have a stock sc300 with the w58. I plan to do a small turbo and drift the car. I planned to put a stage 3 or 4 clutch kit in. Is there any other ways to make it stronger or will I be ok running about 350hp. Thank you for all your knowledge
If my memory serves me well w58 used in the early 80s for 4 cylinder engines like 22r and 3Y engines 120 hp then it was developed with a stronger internals to hold up in line 6 cylinder thats when the steel plate in the middle was add in the 90s.. bottom line the best you can go abusing it is the range of 400hp you will face problems if you exceed it.. R154 can take 600hp when the developed stronger foged internals R154 tripot can handle 750 hp safly.
Hello greetings from Chile, we will soon receive an automatic toyota mark II shipment ..! then my question is !! what mechanical box is compatible to mount on 1JZ GTE engine? your advice would be of great help, I remain attentive to your comment. CLASSIC MONKEY GARAGE.
Do you know if the spline count on the input shaft is the same? Looking to run an r154 pull to push conversion with w58 clutch and flywheel. Just wanting to verify as i've seen some mixed info online. Cool video as there is not much info on this!
@@TopSecretProTuning Yes sir definitely understand, with this kit to run an internal push style release bearing xcessivemanufacturing.com/toyota-t-hrbm-r154.html . It should allow me to run internal release bearing, w58 clutch/flywheel on an r154 trans. Unfortunately there is not much info as i haven't seen many people using this bracket (even when emailing excessive they could not verify w58/r154 spline count). But this makes clutch and flywheel cheaper for me, lets me run internal release bearing, and i dont have to buy all the fork accessories that im missing for the r154, so its kinda a win win.
Hi I have a W58 in my x70 2.4gle The engine is a 22R and runs fine I noticed that when I engage 1st gear it's jumping first gear what could be the problem pls advice me
Hey brotha. Great video. Was wondering if there's a way to get in contact with you about some parts I need for a T50 transmission. Maybe an email so I don't blow your comments box up. Thank you.
I hear the w58 is a much weaker transmission compared to the r154. So unless you're on a tight budget and don't plan to hall ass on it i wouldnt recommend it.
Antes que nada un gran saludo pera ustedes amigos ocupo ayuda tengo un Corolla 1.8 el motor le pondré trasmisión w58 de Tacoma pero no encuentro el clutch
Top Secret Garage Boricuas pues. Que bien. Yo soy de República Dominicana. Aprovecho a preguntarles. Que tanto cuesta un envolvente de una W58 para 2JZ
