On this video you showed those little "ripples" on the top of the drivers door handle to look the car doors. Wow, Steven...I would NEVER had found those without your video. I had to go out into my garage to look at our new Highlander we have had for a week. And yes, they are even on the passengers door also.
Happy to help. Thank you. You can also check out my other channel, Fact of the Day with Steven Welch. It's a fun new channel I started a few months ago. ru-vid.com/show-UCjaOSiVHC95rY3ddF_a_E0Q
Thanks man. about Wireless Door Lock When Opened -- long before we have smart key, I've developed a habit to lock my cars with the hard button that is on the door panel. Passenger door also has this button. Before smart key this habit was a bit dangerous since I always has to make sure that key is not left in the car. Now when smart key cannot be left in the locked car, it's actually easier and and faster to lock with the door key and don't take a key out of my pocket.
My 2021 Toyota Sienna le can do the same even tho it does not have keyless entry but one time I had my 2021 sienna unlocked for less then 30 it locked it self and it’s a great feature to have
OMG, how do you leave a Toyota RAV4 hybrid limited locked when running? It's the most frustrating thing I've ever had either wait for Toyota crap to boot up or leave the vehicle unlocked every time.
Great video as usual Steven, I have 2 questions if you don't mind me asking: @3:20 what's the rectangular plastic piece that can be removed in the small compartment under the central AC vents? and Is there anyway I can close the car with the remote from outside while the car is running? I do that with my Nissans but am unable to do it in the Highlander
@Steven Welch thanks Steven, I think I saw someone able to lock it with the remote after programming the vehicle, not sure if they unlocked that from a hidden menu or somethi g else
Yeah I knew about this feature. I did a lot of exploring/experiementation when I first bought my 2021 HiHy. What I wish these cars had was passive locking.....i.e. I get out of the car and close the door and walk away. Car locks itself. My 2017 Impala had this and I miss it.
@@stevenwelchtoyota sooooo can you add that feature ??? i would love that!!!!! i always 4get 2 remember that i lockd it n then have 2 go back 2 ck it!!! an automatic walk away lock would b sooo handy!!!!
Hey Steven, I was wondering if you can do a video. I just recently took my car to get serviced and it’s a 22 highlander and I was able to lock the key fob inside while having the actual key with me but now I can’t…. Any idea what service did to reset that?
Hey, you seem to know a lot about the ins and outs of the toyota smart key system. Can you tell me this, is there a way to permanently turn off/deactivate the smart key relay signal? I know there used to be a way to do that in the ones from just a few years ago. You just had to vehicle, and go in there and turn it off.
I have a 22 Toyota Avalon XLE and it also has that the sensor on the driver door. I was just wondering is there anyway you can set that sensor to your own personal touch? You know to protect against theft or anything like that? Thanks
My 2022 4Runner trd pro won’t lock with the button on the handle. Do I need to program it? I have to use my key to lock it and keeps pulling my key out of my purse.
I am always losing my shit because I have to wait for the fam to get out before I lock the doors. I am like "Hurry up and get the eff out so I can lock the freakin doors!!!!"
I work in an unsafe neighborhood - is there a way to have my 2022 rav4 lock automatically when I get into the car and close the door? I see the ability to lock when I shift from P - but I’d like it to lock immediately when the door shuts.
Hello Steven awesome info like allways!!! Quick question I have a 2022 Toyota Sienna and I was playing with the Radio system a littler bit and I found a setting that if I go over the speed limit the sienna will make a beep sound. I setup it if to make a beep if I go over 1 miles over the speed limit. My question is... How can I remove it? I do not remember how to get to that setting. It is bother me ☹️ lol Can be also some setting in the steering wheel in the info entertaiment . I remember I can choose between 1 mile , 3 miles or 5 miles over the speed limit to make the beep sound.
My Rav Prime was unlocked when I went out below freezing to move the car. I thought I had locked it. Is there some feature for it to unlock so it won't freeze the locks?
I think there’s a setting in the infotainment system to let you choose between 1 press unlock driver only another press to unlock all OR 1 press unlock all.
@@danperry4875 that is the relock timer. If you hit unlock on the key fob and don't open the door in what option you have set for seconds it will relock. It is not a walk away lock
Can you set it to lock your car when you walk away with the smart key? I can do this with my Mazda, I can just close the door, walk away and the car will lock. Thanks
I was just going to ask this too. How could Toyota pass on a feature like that? It does everything else…..I sometimes forget to lock the doors and it would have been nice if I walk away the car would lock itself.
@@alheiman9525 yeah, but it would be an option to enable or disable. A Chevy volt I was borrowing had this feature and it was nice to have. Just hop out the car with key fob in your pocket and when you get about 5-10 feet away it locks itself.
@@Venomized you are right there. If you lock your car every time, it would be awesome. I don't lock mine in my garage, so I wouldn't like it, but having it as an option would be perfect
2019 camry drivers door can be opened when the alarm is set. key fob out of range yet the door can be opened . the alarm will go off but the drivers door is wide open . what gives ..???
This may be a stupid question but when you started the vehicle you had a map display, my 2022 toyota corolla doesn't display any maps/gps without plugging my phone in for the android auto, any work around this?
My bad, you could make your videos however you want. Some unsolicited advice is that for these kind of how to's it should be short and sweet or have chapters so you can navigate to the relevant part easily.
Dear God, *five minutes* to get to the point! This could have been explained in 30 seconds! Thank you for showing what this does, but please, cut the length way down.
Dude, give those vehicle's a break! No need to keep starting and stopping the engine, just to show settings/features that don't require the engine running.
