How to drive for best fuel efficiency in city driving :
Engage ECO mode
Don't use ventilation if not needed

Don't put air blow too strong
Don't put air temperature too high or too low
Go quickly to the required road speed limit by going to the end of the ECO bar
Try to stay between the CHARGE line and first half of the ECO bar to engage EV mode.
Try not go over the ECO bar (PWR mode).
Try not to deplete the battery by voluntarily using the manual EV mode for too long.
Try to anticipate road traffic (ex : slightly press the brake pedal in order to regen instead of pressing too hard, engaging the brakes)
Prefer coasting or gliding (by staying in first half of ECO) than big accelerations and brutal braking.
Avoid turning the engine on and off too often.
Make the required car services on time.
Don't use big rims.
Use fuel efficiency friendly tires.
Always check tires are well inflated.
Don't keep unneeded heavy or non aerodynamic stuff in or on the car.

Nice review ! I have a 2017 basic one, hybrid with 15" wheels... It doesn't have the parking sensors but has the rear camera and for me it's enough. Also the headlights, mine don't have the led daylight signature, it has a little normal bulb, but hey, it's ok... I've heard there are people with led headlights failing after 3 years.... Mine has a overall consumption of 3,7 L/100 km which is awesome... I was a bit shocked when I saw yours 😀 The B mode is good for (and you should use it) going downhill, it helps breaking with the engine and not to wear too much your break pads... You can also use it when exiting the highway for example, In that moment you need to go a bit slower, the just engage D mode back again. Best way to do good consumption while city driving is to not let the hybrid battery to it's minimum charge, because when that happens, the gasoline engine will start to recharge the hybrid battery, thus giving you less power when you accelerate. Also, you can activate EV mode (while going under 60 km/h generally) by lifting a bit your foot from the gas pedal, and if the battery has at least 3 "stripes", EV mode will kick in,... And will stay on EV mode while you're on the 1st ECO zone. Even while you're not on EV mode, 1st ECO zone is the way you should use for better consumption. For best L/km , accelerate with gasoline engine until you reach desired speed, then lift gas pedal and EV mode will maintain speed, while on 1st ECO zone When battery has only 2 "stripes", the minimum charge, the gasoline engine will kick in...even if the car is stopped but is still turned on. Don't turn off the car, let it charge the hybrid battery and then you could turn it off. Toyota does it that way so that the battery will keep a minimum of electric charge. Also, And very important, there is a filter on the fan of the hybrid Battery under the back seat, Same side as the driver (left) ... If you check there's a small air ventilation on the side to the door. The plastic panel that covers it can be removed so it can be cleaned (the fan filter). If the filter gets clogged, no air will flow inside to cool down the hybrid battery.... So that will make the battery fail sooner. There are some videos on RU-vid that show how to do it, it's very simple. 👍 Nice video.

nice review, usefull stuff.. i'm thinking about getting the 4th gen, do you have any issues with the start/stop button? i'm a little concerned about all these electronics to be honest.. thanks.

Hello and thank you :) I have the start and stop button on multiple Yaris since 2006 (Gen 2), still running great 🤗. No concerns for that on my side.

What many don’t understand about the Yaris is it’s not meant to be luxurious or super comfortable. What you’re paying for is a dependable and economical to run and maintain small car that will take you from A-B without drama or conflict as long as you actually use your brain. Just imagine how expensive it would be if Toyota spent Mercedes levels of money on the interior on top of the already great drivetrain. VW makes more luxurious small cars but don’t forget they also tend to break down or get random electrical failures. Toyotas aren’t perfect but I’ve never seen one stuck at the side of the road or with huge problems in the shop unless it’s been abused so badly it’s the driver’s fault more than anything

Indeed :). I still have a preference for the older generations and the latest one. After having it for years it is not (for me) the greatest generation. In terms of reliability, I agree with you, although we have a strange mechanical noise in the front and the garage does not know where it come from (truthfully I m not sure they looked very well).
@Drake-ef1mg

@@funcarreviews Prefering a certain generation over another is completely fine. We all have different tastes, right now I'm the owner of a gen 1 1.0 VVTi 5 speed manual Yaris from 2002

We had it also. Loved it. But it had an accident. Still have the Yaris verso though 🤗

@@funcarreviews I love mine as well, sorry to hear about the accident. Only issues for me are the seats being too unsupportive and hard as well as the steering wheel being too far away

Trap Extravaganza thank you very much for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes you are right. I wanted to make the video shorter, less than 20 Minutes, but there was way too much to say for consumer to be aware of (almost) everything. Other reviews are also good but may not be as detailed. Thank you.

Hi am bout to buy a used hybrid i dont have a big budget so what im either go for a 2010-13 Auris 1.8 HSD Yaris 2014 1.5 HSD I like the Auris more for its more comfortable seats but dont know if its worth it for me.
@funcarreviews
@funcarreviews 2 месяца назад
Hello, Well auris is higher class and a bit more comfortable than this Yaris generation. Price, size, comfort and budget are different. It really depends what you are looking for and your usual drives. Yaris are less comfortable on highways than Auris for example. But both are reliable.

I am not really sure which one to take. Honda Jazz Hybrid 4th gen or Toyota Yaris Hybrid. I want save fuel and I also ride in city 80% of time. Jazz and Yaris cost basically same when used in my country.

Well it s more a matter of taste :) You should go try them and compare e them also comfort wise. My heart always goes for the Yaris 😂
