griffy83 haha he was a huge help. Was supper excited to do it as well. Second time around I did it on my own. He offered to help, but I like the experience
Why does every statement sound like a question? Wish I had a buddy to do all my work for me. He literally did hundreds of dollars of work for you. Better buy your bro some beer or weed for hooking you up.
The 3.4. V6 Toyota will outlast the 4.0 straight 6 from the jeep. But with consistent oil changes and water pumps every 100k. Along with valve cover gaskets every 150k. You shouldn't have any issues for at least 300k.
I wondered about that 4.0 strate 6 on the jeep...I was almost even considering looking into one, but thr not worth it or what? Have u had experience with them???
@@israelrodriguez6986 both are good. But the Toyota is better in my opinion. The craftsmanship of the japanese made is better quality and lasts longer.
I am looking to buy a Cherokee xj but I'm double thinking because honestly I never looked at the 3rd gen 4runner closely with a lift but I'm liking the look. Do the engines last as as long as the 4.0 straight six?
Sorry, a bit late (school has been kicking my butt and havent uploaded or checked the page.) I prefer the 4runners because they are very reliable, arent overdone (so many jeeps on the road), and the interior quality is a million times better.
Hey man how did these hold up? I've got a 00 4wd tacoma, I am looking these but i really dont want to hate them in a year. i still need 2 new UCA and probably new rear struts.
Mark Hense the lift helped a lot, but it still rubs. The tires stick out way further than most and without another 3 inches of list it’s still going to rub on mine.
@@ztpgarage thanks for the info. I am curious whether I should go bigger on tire. My thought was 285 75 16 on stock Toyota wheels. 3inch lift with 1.5 body lift. Also worry about transmission strain.
Mark Hense so since this video I’ve wrecked this one and the 4Runner I have now is a manual. These tires slowed the auto way down, and it had trouble shifting into overdrive. Hills were terrible. My manual is a lot slower, but still pulls fine. As for rubbing I don’t know much about tire size, but what you mentioned doesn’t sound like it would rub at all
jeepers Creepers 305/75/16 on a 16x12 with a -44 offset. In this video there aren’t any spacers, but I currently run this same setup on my other 4Runner with 1.25 inch spacers. I unfortunately ended up wrecking this one.
Dustin Salisbury they can be hard to find in good shape depending on where you live for sure. There are a lot of rust buckets in my area, but definitely some gems as well
jake Esquivel yeah, I didn’t have to get anything else. I think there’s an option to have all new hardware included. It’s a little extra money, but worth it.
@@ztpgarage so i was looking into buying a lift and i was gonna by 3inch holstein 5100 rear shocks, but it says i would need to install an extended brake line with those longer shocks. is that actually true and if so why?
@@jake27schannel apparently if ur not gnna offroad it, u dont need the extended brake line, but if u are it is strongly recommended, seeing that ur tires will articulate drastically in uneven terrain and difficult trails.
pleased to hear the lift has fixed your wheel rub. so what exactly is your wheel and tyre setup? 305/70/16 A/Ts and 16x10 wheels? i'm looking at a similar project on my 4runner.
May copy this setup.. 3" lift plenty for those tires and that setup can get you where you wanna go... Even stock with 265 75R 16s I go way up the Rubicon and hit most local CA/NV/Tahoe shit no issues.. Like this setup..
Chris Mount stock. There are 3 different kind of stock fender flairs, and I bought a parts runner with these on it and just swapped them over. I had an extra set I sold a year ago or so
Victor Hugo Black Rock 16x12’s and they’re a -44 offset, so they stick out really far by themselves. But I’m now running the 13wl tundra brakes, so I have one inch spacers all the way around. In this video however no, I don’t have spacers.
@@ztpgarage I have the same brakes installed and will be installing this lift soon. I was thinking on going with a 17" wheel to avoid using spacers. What do you think?
@@prestonblaineroddam7986 what year would the 1st gen tacoma be? Also the lift for that year, ur saying is applicable to 3rd gen Toyota 4runners???!!!! Ur sure about this? Cuz that's pretty good info...
