Do you still have this problem?

There are some things you can try. Firstly, on the deco app, click on the devices (which are your gaming machines) and when selected, you can switch them to "high priority". That might help? Let me know. If not, we can try something else. Many thanks Steve

Here's another thing. On the deco app, on the front screen, bottom left are 9 little squares in a block. Click on that. It's called "more". In there, towards the bottom of the screen are some yellow icons click "QoS". When in there, you can see a graphic, click the middle of the graphic which will prioritize any devices (as per my first post) for gaming. So do my first reply first, then do this. See how it goes. Yes I do. I am using an android phone. App version 2.6.2. Bottom right, click more, ajd QoS is located there.

As for holding down the deco icon, please explain more....

Either! I use only my mesh, as a router for all. You can have both running alongside each other if you like!

im having the same problem my internet keeps on disconnecting when im upstairs my phone keeps on connecting to deco that is downstairs it makes my internet slow

You need to switch off some decos and then think about which order to switch them back on.

Yes, but not sure how you'd switch it in again. Best to set a timer, so each day its on for so long then off later.

You'll be able to ban access to websites on the deco, and so they'll only be able to acces tiktok using mobile data. If you deleted it from their phone, they'd only reinstall. Maybe the way forward is to use your deco to limit their access times. You could set up a couple of networks. One gives access to sites from time a to time b, but no tiktok access. Another gives them Access to tiktok from time a to time b, say an hour an evening.

The printer should have an option to connect to a network. So get it to search for your deco network. When it connects, you'll be able to see the printer when you open the deco app on your phone.

Sure is. Well, a bit of a work around. You set up another network for the kids and then limit their speeds by putting a maximum quality of service on that network. Give them their own password, change your orignal networks password to something they don't know. Then you can also shut down their network if they are playing up, whilst your network is purring along perfectly!

On the app you could use "deco lab" to run a diagnostics.

Just switch it off and switch it on again, but close to another node. It might work.

You need to look at the positioning of your nodes. Try and make sure that they are not too far apart and that there is a route from one, to another, to another.

Main deco directly linked via cable to your original router.

If you are using iOS, apparently there is a mis match where it gives this warning, but tp link say it's not an issue. You can apparently chance some settings, but this might give compatibility issues. Personally, I think I'm fine as the mesh system will provide some level of protection and then your devices will also have their own levels of protection.

Go to QoS, then at yhe the bottom of that page go, bandwidth, then edit.

You can set up multiple networks off the mesh system. For example, set up a new network called "kids" give them a password, and then put filters onto that network, and only allow the kids the password to that network!

Roaming should make no difference. Next time your deco node goes red, go and see if your primary node is red. If the primary node is green, then you need to position your secondary nodes closer to the primary, or with less obstructions. If your router is red, then it's a broadband provider problem, not the mesh WiFi problem. Hope this helps! @@stevedogwildman2133 hey Steve thanks for being so kind to me well, the fast roaming option disconnected the 2 decos from the main one, so i turned it off.. but, i have set bandwidth for QoS.. some how i felt the service got slower than before specially when using RU-vid or any other streaming sites.. any suggestions how to turn off the QoS or how to set the bandwidth to default? thanks once again have a good day

You can't isolate your main network, but you can (outside of deco) disable your main network WiFi, as potentially it could interfere with the deco WiFi, although I've not had any problems. Other things could give you drop outs, interference. For example, placing a node near a microwave oven might interfere.

In the deco app click on the device then the tools icon in the top left, this will give you details incl ip address. Then on your devicea you need to check the settings to find out what each device is called. Process of elimination and a bit of thinking!

This means there is not internet, so the nodes could all be connected fine, but the internet isn't working. Normally if the internet is down, the lights on the nodes go red. If you leave it for a few minutes, it normally sorts itself out.

You set up passwords and without the password others cannot connect. Also you can view which devices are connected to the mesh wifi.

I think there is a reset button on the deco units.

On the deco app, bottom right, click the 9 square icon. Go to parental controls and you can set up profiles (even adult ones) which will limit the amount of time used, or switch on and off at certain times, for weekdays or weekends. You could for example, set up a profile for your kids. They'll have a different password and then you can restrict the sites they can visit and also the total time or when they can use the net.

Use your app to change the passwords..

Btw. I have tried changing the QoS and the other suggestions on the TP-LINK website, but it doesn’t seem to help.

really late reply but i had to shut off sip alg and that cleared it up, as well as set the QoS to max speeds of up/down.

But all is fine now?

Chris, i don't know. Shouldn't happen of course. Start a process of elimination. So switch your primary node with another, see what happens, the try that primary plugged into different ports on the router. See how that goes, then see if there's anything that might provide interference. That's all I can suggest. Then I suppose check software and firmware updates then finally settings. Let me know how you get on.

Turn off all deco units for a couple of minutes then start them again.

How many nodes? Use the deco app to check they are all connecting to your primary node.

@@stevedogwildman2133 I'm not sure what you mean by nodes, but before I'm the one who tried to setup our wifi through the app and when that failed I ask my brother for help. He did set it up successfully but in our house I'm the only one who can't connect normally. Idk why and how is that possible. I need to literally put my phone on top of the wifi to even connect. Does my failed attempt have something to do with my problem?

You should see more, try scrolling up or down. Icons may be just off the screen....

Log in to your original router, which your parents might have forgotten to switch off.

On the app, on router settings, drag the screen up, it's all at the very bottom of the page!

It shouldn't. Check the settings of the firestick.

I would leave it as it is, as it will select the most appropriate frequency for each device. The only time I'd do different is if you have a device that, say, runs on 5 but only wants to connect on 2.4. Some Apple devices have had this issue. You could then log that device into a 5 network. Of course, if you are getting at deprioritising some devices, this can be done in the QoS section in the app, although you'd actually do this by prioritizing other devices and not the ones so important to you. Hope this helps.

Let your pc search for your wifi network.

@@stevedogwildman2133 it's says that there is network connection wo internet. I think deco block mac adress, but I could find where to unblock it. Block list is empty. Deleted devices are not there. You can try in your deco app, I bet you will face the same issue)

Use the app on your smartphone. Click on the 3 lines on the top left. Pick deco lab and run a diagnostics from there.

I would say no. The deco effectively takes your original broadband signal and transmits it further than your old router. Nothing else.

@@stevedogwildman2133 thanks. I also setup guest network and made it the same password as the main one and when I switched the guest toggle off becasue I won't be using it now... It kicked some of the household devices off the network and I couldn't even find the wifi network on lists of wifi on my mom's phone and desktop pc... Should I change the password and not make it the same? The deco also seems to be disconnecting from my phone and I'm sitting in one spot near the deco... I can see the wifi symbol dropping then appearing. I did not select certain devices to be on guest network so how did it kick off some and not others. Her phone and desktop pc all went off but her macbook stayed on and it's all in the same room

Firstly, yes I'd have a separate password.

Check your deco is updated. Use network optimisation. Your units should be able to happily work more than 2m apart. Tell your phone to forget your router network. See if these things help.

@@stevedogwildman2133 thanks, it the decos did tell me there is an update after I set them up so that was already done... I changed the password now to something different. Yeah last night the wifi just kept going on and off on my phone. The symbol would disappear and then seconds later appear again.

You can create a guest network.

Its hidden at the bottom of a screen. Click the 9 dots where it says "more" then scroll down, QoS is in yellow at the bottom!

Yes. The mesh system can run alongside your regular router system.

Yes. Both systems can run independently.

Yes. Of course, your total bps will be determined by your broadband provider, but 2 systems can work alongside each other.

@@stevedogwildman2133 It’s so weird. Every time I’ve updated it the ring will turn red and I turn it off/on and still won’t work. It usually takes until the next morning for it to go back to normal. It’s annoying lol

Not sure. Reboot the mesh system. Normally with me, if there is a slow upload, its the broadband provider, and not the wifi.

@@stevedogwildman2133 with cable/Ethernet, the upload is great, but with any wifi device it’s very very slow

4 things to check. 1 your device, can it upload using wifi quickly. 2. Number of devices using wifi. 3. Position of nodes. 4. Could anything be producing interference which impacts on the wifi?

@@stevedogwildman2133 thanks for replying. SOLVED: deco mesh system (M20). QoS config was limiting total bandwidth speed. I have changed that and that’s fine.

Phew! Good to know!

The only way is to set up a new profile under "parental controls" but even there you can effectively set up an adult profile, and then block specific websites. You then give everyone the new profile and the new password for that profile.

Mesh WiFi won't determine the detective skills of your wife, or what you view on the net.
