Bro, I really love your podcast I usually find it hard to sit through long podcasts but you being a comedian keep me entertained. Apart from that I really like how you have matured debates with your guests when you disagree rather than shouting in each others faces which is unfortunately what we usually see in our society. Keep up the amazing work!

Speech is not violence, and it never will be - to pretend otherwise is a mockery of all instances of real violence that have taken place over the course of history. I think every reasonable person can agree that *targeted* harassment at a personal level is wrong, but free speech, in its most authentic and developed form, entails being able to say, in generalized contexts, anything and everything. They're sounds coming out of people's mouths at the end of the day - if you're bothered by that, regardless of the content, I don't think the speech itself is what you have a problem with. To quote the great Christopher Hitchens, "Who is going to decide, to whom do you award the right to decide which speech is harmful, or who is the harmful speaker, or to determine in advance what the harmful consequences are going to be that we know enough in advance to prevent? To whom would you give this job; to whom are you going to award the task of being the censor? To whom would you delegate the task of deciding for you what you could read? To whom you would give the job of deciding for you, relieve you of the responsibility of hearing what you have to hear? Do you know anyone - hands up - to whom you would give this job?" Conservatives attempt to restrict speech when their religious sentiments are hurt, liberals attempt to restrict it when their sexual/racial/ethnic/gender-based/etc. sentiments are hurt. Both do it because they lack the capacity to formulate comprehensive counterarguments. They're at some level afraid the truth may come out. Chappelle is the best of all time because he's there to tell the truth in a funny manner, and the last thing on his mind is wanting to please people. Every great comedian has followed that principle. Love you Shehzad, you're my buddy but I wholeheartedly disagree with your premises on this one. I also feel for Mooroo bhai a little, this entire conversation feels like a borderline interrogation of sorts where he's attempting to prove his innocence when he hasn't really done any tangible harm to anybody. He doesn't owe anyone an apology for anything - and I think we'd do well if we abstained from mindlessly importing Western social justice ideology here, because not only is it logically unsound, it's also incredibly counterproductive - I'd say it's one of the prime reasons Corbyn was so laughably unsuccessful in the previous general elections in the UK. Identity politics feels great but achieves zilch. I'd suggest reading John Stuart Mill's tract, 'On Liberty', for a nice overview of the logic behind free speech. Ibn Rushd wrote quite a bit on it too if you'd like to research further. Love what you're doing with TPE, keep on keeping on. 👏

Couldn't agree more. That guy is full on tryina judge Mooroo according to his moral constructs. Also, I think it's not the liberals but the leftists who force their ideologies on conservatives.

Speech enforces violence. When only selected people are allowed to speak, over and over again on diverse platforms, and then even to explain themselves they get the platform all to themselves, whilst the people from the other community are regularly harrassed, bullied, assaulted, thrown out of their homes, tortured, killed and forced to be people they're not because all of society through their "free speech" has forced them under a specific perception ke yeh log sab child molestors/freaks/unnatural hain, woh violence hai. Aapko is liye nahi pata kyunke aapka usse exposure nahi hai
@sohaibbaig4655
@sohaibbaig4655 4 года назад
Your viewing free speech as a linear concept and excluding the dialectic of it with the platform, which is inherently political, is elementary and amateurish

If you go to Australia, Dick, Cu*t is a very very common word used in place of 'Mate'. The closer you are to a bogan, the more of a Cu*t he would use to address you and that is super normal on streets and labour job. Context and culture is very important. I was also offended a bit by mom jokes, C words down under but you have to accept the cultural jokes as there is no right and wrong rule book, just an understandable urban dictionary acceptance. That is why, kaala, makrani and making fun of it has nothing to do with African American in Pakistan or sub continent, but has a problem with colour. And we are still fan of white than black colour because of colonialism mindset drawbacks and so are most of Asians( Chinese are super racist when it comes to black, not because of African American thing but just because of beauty conscience). Jokes, slurs and offensive words are always contextual to the culture and history for a specific region.

2:58 ‘Why put that out yaar’ such an unreasonable comment by Shehzad. Did you not do your research? Mooroo is a content creator and he’s got his freedom of expression that YOU can’t question. Like you said ‘koi na koi toh offend hoga’ you can’t please everyone. Let’s not suppress creatives like Mooroo. We only have a handful artists in our country. Art is Art. You don’t like it and get triggered. Shut it off and move on. Sorry Mooroo, you have to keep explaining your narrative again and again!

Dude. He invited the guy out. Disagreed with him with emotion/s. He felt the thing Mooroo did was a tad bit irresponsible. He allowed him to speak. Listened to the counter arguments. He never suppressed or shut him off. Came to a resolution. It ain't as simple as "Mooroo is a content creator and he’s got his freedom of expression that YOU can’t question." "You don’t like it and get triggered. Shut it off and move on." The world is too nuanced to lash out on anothers' perspective and be an asshole. And I agree with Moroo btw. I mean if one is willing to listen, understand and talk without using force or anything that can harm another in some way, I don't see any infringement on "Freedom".
