I this episode, I'll be finishing up the MVT Digital Direct DD06 installation with wiring and swapping to a Yamaha regulator/rectifier. I also show the difference in timing using a dial indicator set to zero at the top of the piston's travel vs zeroing at true top dead center (TDC).

I don't think there's a need for most people to do it. I've built a few. When I moved stuff around, the stock harness just didn't work without a bunch of modifications and there was junk to cut out like alarm stuff. At that point I figured I might as well make my own from scratch with larger wires. Then I did this one a bit ago because I wanted to use sealed connections everywhere that I could and a fuse block instead of just a single fuse. Probably a largely pointless endeavor, but I was hoping it could lead to a good quality reliable harness.

I set mine to 0.35 btdc and have never looked back it runs awesome and the ignition is awesome!

I use Cyberlink PowerDirector. Not the most popular, but it gets the job done at a reasonable cost IMO.

@@49ccscoot aha. I didnt think it was capable of merging 3 videos into 1 so nicely. I've tried the free version and its very intuitive, just lacks most features. On the contrary, sony vegas pro 13 lets you do anything you can think of.. however you almosy need a bachelors degree to use it for something as simple as making a slowmo sequence.. Can NOT recommend sony vegas pro for anyone unless you need absolute control over every single adjustability. I'll look into "simple" editing programs. If it gets the job done for you, i can't imagine i'd need anything "better"

I think you cut that ignition wire a little short, would pop out if you hit a good bump..

Have you ever had a new aftermarket ignition stator and flywheel make a whining noise? Higher and louder the faster you go?!? I thought something was rubbing but now I don’t think that’s it

Can't say that I have. If you have any sort of electronics with speakers, then it could be interference there. Otherwise, I'd think it would most likely either be contact or maybe the flywheel has some feature that makes it noisy.

The one that is making the whining noise is the mvt millennium.easy to install, my Yamaha jog was stuttering at high rpm and the new ignition fixed that.. but it whining kinda like a speaker in a car but I have no speaker connected the noise is for sure coming from the stator area I couldn’t see anything making contact

@@nastynatesscooters9896 If there's any significant contact, you should see witness marks on something. Don't take this as negative, but are you sure you aren't just noticing the CVT whine now?

No it can’t be the cvt. It’s noticeably coming from the flywheel area. What would make the cvt whine like that?

Hello all: I am having trouble with my 2005 Yamaha bws after I installed my MVT Premium Inner rotor ignition. The problem is that when it’s at idle the rpms sit at around 3700 rpm and if I turn my idle screw down to lower the rpms it eventually dies out at around 3500 rpm. With that my engine starts to heat up with in about one minute running time it gets to 200f and will continue to climb. This never happened before everything was pretty normal before the upgrade. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!! Also when I installed my MVT Premium Inner rotor ignition I fellowed the RU-vid video guide that 49ccscoot guy made. I set it at .40mm from top dead centre since I have a standard crank. Thanks again for any insight on this.

I would start with carefully re-checking the setting of the ignition.

Can I just fit the Mvt and it will charge my battery or do I have too do something to make that work

Install it and make sure the wiring and regulator are correct for it and it should charge. If you are lucky enough to have a scoot that it's made specifically for, it should just be an install. For something like my Chinese scooter, you'll probably have to do what I showed.

You should be able to leave it wired just as it was if the bike had headlights before.

quick questrion: do reed spacers work? I've heard they increase throttle response but what is the science behind this?

I've never installed a reed spacer and really noticed a difference. However; I still use them. If you install reeds with the cases split, you can see that the reeds do sit low and flow should improve if you raise them a bit. Even better are the angled spacers that allow the reed block to point toward the transfers a bit. You do decrease primary compression (crankcase compression) a bit, but that's not necessarily a bad thing with a good tuned exhaust.

I don't know if my message got sent but I'm doing a modification on my RS 125, i have machined the rotor to fit it on RS and now i could use some help with the stator wiring, what is the Red/Black wire on the stator, is it a pickup and does it shares common ground with the rest of the chassis ?

My guess is that red/black is a combination of an exciter output and pickup. The MVT has no dedicated pickup wire as far as I can tell, so I assume it must use changes in voltage for that. Red/black should not be grounded, but if you meant the MVT grounds; I tied them in with my other harness/chassis grounds.

friend I have a Derbi gp1 and I cannot mount the cables mvt digital direct model DD09 it has a piaggio motor

What do you mean you can't mount them? Do you mean you just can't figure out how wires should be connected?

@@49ccscoot You are Correct Hi is my Brother the problem is we don't find a diagram where to conect the white wire and the yellow because his regulator have different colors hi is trying to make it to charge the battery

I think so. I got the Piaggio version of this ignition for my RC-1 later and it was all plug and play from what I had IIRC.

@@dutchmastertextdutchmaster9617 Usually a curve where advance increases where you want it to stop revving will help, but you can't change the curve with the standard CDI and I don't think the EPROM CDI has curves that do that. Heavier rollers?

Awesome Videos! And you are really go into Details - thumbs up! You are really habe Thors Tesching still :-) I have installed my MVT DD on my 70ccm MALOSSI Speedfight. It runs Not with 0,35mm btdc. IT is stuttering like as hell. When I go with 0,1mm btdc it is only stuttering in the middle section of rpm. Should I go with 0,3 atdc? What I am thinking about is that the mvt has a to aggressive ignition timing for my base tuned Scooter. Ori do you think I should double Check ignition and cdi? Do you habe some checking Numbers? Thanks a lot and greeting from Germany! Marco

I would double check everything first. Go over your whole setup and find out what the specs are from MVT for your specific MVT model number. They have some instructions on their site. It's not unusual to find more power with a little different setting, but I wouldn't think it should need to be set ATDC.

Thanks a lot your time and response. I doublechecked All Electric Parts and found the Problem. Whereas ignition coil itself was totally in tolerance, the spurk Plug connector was not! Thank you so much for your Videos, as you give so much helpful und detailed Information! Best wishes from Germany!

I would say not the best idea unless you really want to get yourself into a big project that's different from what everyone else uses. A couple of projects that I recall are the Buddfab Streamliner and one from High Gain Tuning. The Buddfab build was a couple of professors and the other was a top notch professional tuner with a lot of experience, a large budget and a dyno. Not saying you can't do it, but it's not gonna be worth it for what most of us are after.

@@TylerHartmanI think they're not gonna do much. 2Ts work very well with a tuned pipe and good cylinder layout. Money and time are best spent there.

Should apply pretty well to most Minarelli horizontal engines. The reg/rec pinout may be wrong.

I don't really work on stuff for other people. I did it for a while, but I can never get enough of a customer base around here where no one rides to make it worth the effort.

49ccScoot that makes sense. I just don’t have the time to just get it done, you should try to get a code from that company you get parts from. I picking up all new plastics from them the first of the year. Appreciate all the great info, if you change your mind or want to do a Bug Zuma build let me know.
