Maybe a bigger carb before trying out a whole new cylinder? All tho I must say I would propably stick with this setup and enjoy it as long as it lasts. Great people on that event. What everyone fails to realize is that this guy wants low end throttle response and smooth midrange. This is a sccooter and not an AM6 motorcycle. 28-32mm carbs are for top end HP and a gearbox helps keep it there and expansion chambers bade for that type of setup. This guy is best served with a small 24-26mm carb where flow velocity fits his needs. Lectron and smart carbs are zombie carbs from 40-50 years ago that just received a marketing reboot. Also D slide > flat slide > round slide for peak dyno results and the other way around for reliability and street use.

I take the scoot in the truck these days. Part of me still hates to say that. I used to ride every time and was anti-truck or trailer. Then I hit a deer at the end of a 16 hour riding day from one show and I rode to another after healing up, but it's less stressful and more fun if I don't have to worry about if the scoot makes it and all of the deer that I see on the long ride. I took alternate 13 and then went sort of the back way into Fenwick on 54. I still take that route in the truck a lot vs 50. It's a whole lot nicer ride than the highways. I have taken the scoots down the highway, but they are out of place there and bubble gum machines may not appreciate it if they saw a 49cc doing 70.

@@49ccscoot that makes complete sense! I ride my bicycle long distances on tours and understand how crazy it can be for 2 wheels. I'd love to scoot instead of cycle to at least keep up with traffic on the back road. The American discovery trail has a route that goes through Denton, Bridgeville and Milton. My logic is if it's good enough for regular pedal bikes it should be a pretty friendly scooter ride. Your assateague trip was great really enjoyed that. I'd love to see more delmarva trips. STOP! Haha , atleast you didn't get pulled! Glad to see you got to play a bit! I have issues with my china scoot, 4stroke, it started running crappy, and started a intermittent smoke screen, I think I have a crankcase venting issue, I thought the engine blew, but something definitely happened! I have a naraku 52mm kit I guess I'm going to put on it, with ported big valve head, and NCY cam, if it needs a piston or something, I'm planning to completely build a engine, with the Bbk and crank balanced, what ever happened it still got me home! I'm about to buy a new one or a better one or something, everything is about new tho! I doubt It will ever run anything like these scoots! Maybe with boost, or adding a cylinder! Or both, I'm only spinning it to just over 8200! Anyone get spicy with the 139qmb engines??
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 3 года назад
Hope it's not too bad. No, probably not gonna run as hard as these. Gotta figure, we're 13,000-14,000RPM and firing every revolution. I know some people ran nitrous on the 139QMB. The big kits tend to limit crank life as-is, so I can't imagine that does good things for longevity. Here's a vid from when NASRA was still around, talking about a nitrous 82cc. It ran 35MPH in the 1/8 mile on the same vid, so I guess no nitrous on that run. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TLQeJJVPI1w.html

@@49ccscoot not bad, I could get into that! We have a 1/8 mile strip close by, cars And bikes, I haven't been in years, maybe I can take my Scoot when it's running right, and maybe get something started! Is there any place to buy used scooters and parts? I bought another taotao, 50, with extra short block, it's a crap box, I'm going to make a stripped down hotrod out if it, going with atleast a 50mm bore, but I'd like to find a zooma or something, like yours, if it's just the engine! I thought about building a subframe/swingarm and swapping in a motorcycle engine, I have a 200cc Chinese motorcycle, I can use the engine and 5speed fear box from, I don't know if I can make that look like a 50cc scooter!? It will probably still sound about the same, until I went through the 5speed gear box! It would definitely be more fun! I need to get things worked out with the post I have to ride now, it keeps shutting off at full or part throttle (3/4) it's hard to tell what exactly is going on at 30 mph, with a helmet on, it seems to either loose fire, or fuel, but when I stop it either will idle, or will start back and idle, I have changed everything but the stater, and gas tank! I gave had 4carbs on it, I finally got a actual 20 mm carb, there is alot who sell 18mm carbs as 20mm, I think I can go up in jet size conciderably, it's a 80 now, the stock was about 78, but I have a 24mm carb and intake, port matched, but it's going to take a while to tune it to run on a 81cc, it idles is about it, it doesn't take throttle well, they are all CV carbs, I'd like to get a slide carb! There us no examples to judge by, I just use my car and motorcycle experience, I finally got the variator mostly figured! *I must thank you for this* I'm running 8 gram sliders, with ncy adjustable sheave, and roller bearing spring seat, with 1500rpm spring, stock clutch, with lightened and drilled aftermarket bell, with air scoops, I have a aluminum front drive, I haven't installed yet, I have a velocity stack for the carb coming, seems no one has one in the USA! Haha, but I'm going to modify it to work with my foam filter, it's like 65mm, so no restrictions like the little K&N style filters, I'd like to have a air box like yours! I don't need to do wheelies, I gust want decent performance, and about 55mph 88-95cc should do it, even with my 6'2" 320lbs, sorry to ramble!! I have thought about a 150 swap! Bbked to about 171cc. +/- .. thanks for the reply!

@@49ccscoot yeah the fastest I revved is 9300, up to about 15mph, testing weights, after a spring change, it would probably wanted to do about 10,500 on the flats, I don't ok now if it would , or survive, but I try to stay below 9k, with the Bbk, and not balanced, if I do the 52mm kit with new, or stroker cranks, I'm going to Ballance it , I hate the vibrations with the Bbk, it's not that bad, but I know it's not good! I have springs and titanium retainers, with the big valve head, and a ncy cam, balanced, I wouldn't be concerned to turn it 11k+/-, depending on how happy it is, but definitely stay under 12k it's a daily! Not a racer! If I can get a decent 5-40mph time, I'll be happy! Peaking out about 55+/- but 45 around here on 10" rims is about as fast as I want to go on a scoot, I already drag in some turns, so it ain't laying over any further! Haha, good day!! Any advise is appreciated, I'm in nw NC.

@@jamest.5001 Test the stator output after it dies if you can. Maybe it's weak or shows some sign of a fault. I guess the CDI was already changed. My 50mm bore 139QMB with a brand new stock crank lasted 2003 miles before the big end bearing on the crank went. I was pushing it to 9-10k to get 50MPH out of it, because there were no upgears back then. Big motor swaps can be obvious. If possible, deal with stock platform IMO or consider a used Zuma or Chinese scoot with 1E40QMB if you really want something faster at 49cc base. 150s are disappointing IMO. I had one, but it didn't work as a motorcycle like it was tagged to be and it wasn't as fast or fun as the 2T. Gas mileage was pretty good, but meh.

@@49ccscoot it's so intermittent, it will shutoff for a second, then misfires but then I lost half speed, and it starts running again, sometimes it looses power, but I can stop for just a few minutes, it starts fine, then runs fine, until it does it again! I have changed everything but the stater, I changed the pickup, it's much better only looses power, like it's misfires, or something, I even blew out the fuel line, put a new pump on , new coil, plug, I even bought a USA wire, and NGK cap, unless it's the wiring harness, I even put a new key switch on it, I'm about to just buy it a new scooter! Haha, but I'm probably going to build the spare engine, so the crank will be balanced with the 52mm piston, with the ported big valve head, hopefully it will make some power, maybe a stroker crank, we got hills here, and I'm heavy! With the big valves, cam, and titanium retainers, and stiff springs, it should spin high enough to make some power, 12k rpm valve springs, and nibbi 150cc intake, I backfilled and port matched it. It should run much better than the 81cc, even if it's stock stroke! If I do get it running right, I'll build the other engine for the other scoot! Thanks!!

The scooter itself has been on the road with me for roughly 15 years and has a ton of miles on it and 2 fairly serious crashes and it's still going. I've been through a lot of engines though. The TPR setup hasn't been a long lasting engine combo for me. This is actually my 2nd cylinder kit and crank. First kit lasted a bit less than 2000 miles. This one has around 700 on it. It was quite reliable when I had a different exhaust that only spun up to 10-11,000RPM. Now at 14,000RPM it likes to break things more often.

If this is a 139QMB, it should be fine with a 47mm bore and stock carb or 18-20mm carb that is adjustable (adjustable needle, not sealed). Upjet and change needle position as needed. I don't tell anyone what jet size to use, because jet recommendations have never worked perfectly for me. They are nothing more than a ballpark IMO and so many things can throw them off. I prefer to start larger than I think it needs and then reduce jet size as I do test runs and use that info to tell me which jet I should use. Get a whole kit of main jets and start something like 10-15 larger than where it was. So if you had an 80 main jet in there and nothing other than the big bore kit changed, then go to 90-95 to start. It may be too large, but it's easy to move down a step at a time till you see what works.

There's more risk with any big bore than stock, but 47mm is generally not as hard on the bottom end as the larger bores. The best position for the needle is whatever works best for your setup. There's not 1 right position. You should be able to use the rest of the vacuum hoses and connections just like before, unless the head configuration changes. The hoses are probably PAIR.
