Trøllabundin means spellbound. In the viking age, 'Galder' was a kind of magic song that was used in seiðr (magic/witchcraft) practiced by mainly women, and to 'galdra' was to affect something by magic singing.
I feel the same! Though I live in the US, it makes me feel very good knowing that my lineage is Nordic. So many groups that come out of those places make me proud that these are the people I come from. The culture is so astoundingly rich with beautiful music, that in my heart, I am right alongside my people, right where they were thousands of years ago. 😊
I am Italian, so very far, culturally, from her world...but every time I hear that throat singing/whispers, I feel something ancient calling me and telling me to go "lose myself to find myself" in the woods. And I did...several times... there's probably hundreds of "ME" that got lost among those trees that I left behind, and thousands are still waiting there for me to find them. Magic
@@geraldineports6973 hahaha thanks Geraldine I read that, btw 😅 and no, I'm sorry. Search the woods, maybe you'll find one of those "me", covered in moss, and singing with the wind. He'll be in need of someome to bring him back to society...or to join him in his song 😉
English translation- Spellbound Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood
I went to 2 of her concerts in Vienna years ago, afterwards I went to get her new album and take a photo with her. She said to me: "I love your outfit!" and I replied with "Thanks, I love you!" I still stand by that.
Eivor Palsdottir is from the Faroe islands (off the Scandinavian coast) and sings in her beautiful, haunting Faroese language often......there are many live concert performances of this, all good.....she often sings with Einar Selvik of Wardruna....their duet of 'Helvegen' with full orcheastra and choir is moving.......
Are there any videos of it? I'm looking around and not finding anything but that sounds amazing. I know there is one like that with Aurora though and it's beautiful. Edit: I may have found it! Sweden 2018?

Occasionally you come across something so epic down the RU-vid rabbit hole that blows your mind away. This gave me the goosebumps! It was so refreshing to be lost in such a soundscape and hear the human vocal cords producing unfamiliar sounds. Wow, she has such an amazing voice!
I guess we all know of this rabbit hole effect :D This artist is not new to me but I've spent literally countless hours discovering some amazing music here
I prefer the gig she did in that fjord in Norway, she had the orchestra of nature around her, that beats anything imo;) -this is really great aswel❤ -edit: missed the part where you wrote 2023,
You don't have to understand the title. If you have some culture and seeing this "Danish National Symphony Orchestra" is enough to click on the video. It is natural selection. People with culture and people who are eager to discover will click, the rest will remain at cardi b.
Eivor is magical. I thought her live version in a Norwegian fjord was the best ever, because of the echoes. Now I doubt. This Danisch orchestra adds more otherworld magic to it. Wonderful!
Eivør has the magic voice, which was sung as galdralag and was indeed used as both birth and funeral song for great warriors, and also to inflict madness and blight on the enemy. The Valkyr were powerful and fearsome sorceresses- while seidr was trivial to them, they spoke in galdr and could twist reality itself with their words. This is ancient magic.
I don't understand a word... but OMG my soul FEELS every word, sound, emotion. I love her facial emotion! What an amazingly talented human being. From the U.S. I am
Yes it is beautiful and make us feel cornected, it all in our DNA. Even if we don't understand we feel the story she is singing. Big hugs from Denmark. 💝🌹🥰
Each time she performs Trøllabundin, it's never the same. Each performance is unique and there is always something new I discover, absolutely love it!! I would love to have this on Spotify! 💚
This is hands down the best live version I’ve seen. It haunts me, gets stuck in my mind and eyes. The throat singing the first time I watched / heard this I dropped everything I was holding. Music is universal; don’t fly by something you can’t read you miss treasures like this.
Never seen anything like this before, but she just has awakened something deep within me. What is this? She seems like she is conjuring something ancient and magical. I can feel it 🤗
I felt it brother 💥 💖 ✨ energy of the ancient ancestors, thank you so much for your message ☺️ it can feel a bit crazy at times when these moments occur, much love and blessings to you from Australia 🙏🌈🦋🌅💜 @@ManuelAlvarez-bc6du
Thank you for uploading this. I live in the United States, so we are seeing this on Christmas day. I can think of fewer gifts I can receive on this day that are as enjoyable as the gift of Eivor's otherworldly voice. Merry Christmas to you.
hope your "Yule,"-- it's true name-- was merry, and your Odin's Tree was symmetrical and voluminous. the Wild Hunt passed over your home, proving that, while slightly misguided, you were indeed virtuous and deserved good fortune. hope your vernal equinox is filled with delight and satisfaction! may spring bring you fields of wild flowers and gallons of honey
Thank you so much for this great Christmas present! This version of Trollabundin is simply epic! I have been listening to Eivor for so many years now. To see her perform together with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra is just a joy for my heart.
The Danish National Symphony must be a joy for the musicians, formal attire for one performance and in character attire or another. Top level musicians all.
I have been listening to Eivør's and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra's music for a while now and I must say this is one of the most captivating and awe-inspiring collaborations I have ever heard. The sound of the drum echoing in your chest, beat after beat is just on another level. I applaud everyone involved with this performance, it was absolute perfection.
Almost as awesome as it was live! Well almost - nothing compares to live performance with this orchestra, Einar and Eivør. Watched this in May on my birthday and been waiting to see the performance here on this channel. And here it is for Christmas. Two awesome gifts in one! Thank you!
As many times as I've heard Eivor perform this song thIs I have to say has been the most epic. The orchestra added so much to her incredible performance of the song 🎶♥️🎶 We were so fortunate to see her live in SF and can't wait for her to tour the US again ♥️ Thank you for recording and sharing 💕 What a Great Christmas Gift 🎶♥️🎶
I just saw her live at the iconic Red Rocks in Colorado, USA. She is truly something else. I can't even describe how utterly enchanting her voice is to hear in person. I wanted to close my eyes and get pulled into the trance, but I couldn't stop looking at her!
A real sensation! Fantastic! Not only the wonderful singer but also every single intrument/instrument group. Every single tone/note is not only "fill sound" but plays it's important role for the whole. Astonishing, thanks a lot for this great piece.
As a musician, there must be such a primal energy coursing through the veins to be able to play during such a potent and magical song. To help unleash the spirits while using ‘civilized’ instruments.
I still remember the first time I watched her. It was her appearance with Trøllabundin on this small stage upon the mountain (10.08.2013). Already back then I was immediately mesmerised. But this version... I'm deeply touched to the core of my soul and also refueled with energy. An ancient being in me begins to stretch. By the way: She is so damn gorgeous. 🤩
I fucking LOVE when she does the rhythmic chanting in this version. I love all the other versions but this one, with her metal ass outfit and the way she looks at the camera is so metal… like a Viking shield maiden that you DO NOT want to fuck with.
This has been one of my favorite songs ever since I first heard it almost ten years ago. I'm so happy to see that it's still being performed; it's one of those songs that continues to evolve over time, and Eivør continues to breathe new magic into every performance.
Every time I hear this song, her voice. It's never the same and every version takes your mind and her vocals are absolutely phenomenal and one thr most sensational singers I have heard. So beautiful
