Nice video ! That's what we call a major update ! FM synthesis is awesome, it could be rough and agressive like sandpaper or thin and clear like water drops or crystal glass ! Anyway... It sounds very good... Very addictive additive synthesis !
Nu-Trix The Synth Guy I like dreaming :) Regarding ability to connect to iOS / class compliant audio and midi, I’m afraid they won’t have any other choice but going class compliant as macOS Big Sur will deprecate kernel extensions on domains which are already covered by the OS. Apple doesn’t want anymore that there is an overlap between their APIs and proprietary drivers. There is some kind of higher level extensions thing replacing, but I don’t believe it’s worth making the effort to redevelop all their drivers, they’d rather present generic audio and midi I/O interfaces and add/redevelop only the extra features with the new type of drivers.
Nu-Trix The Synth Guy you mean Steinberg developed a proprietary driver for macOS 11 Big Sur ? My understanding is Apple wants the hardware manufacturers to use the system APIs when they exist so as we as users only have to install drivers when really needed. Though you can still develop a driver but only to add something that can’t be done with the system’s API. It’s actually a good thing for the user. This is to avoid the known issue of interop on each new OS upgrade and also obsolescence in case the manufacturer stops updating the proprietary driver. At the occasion, it ensures iOS compatibility ! There used to be only Roland, Elektron and a few audio card manufacturers that were still forcing us with proprietary drivers in the music gear industry. Now Elektron has opened to class compliant too. Let’s see how Roland and even Steinbeck implement that.
You know what? People asked and talked about me to Roland and they finally hired me to do some of their RU-vid tutorial videos for their Roland Cloud channel. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0oxvspsop1w.html
You know, I've become disillusioned with Roland lately, comparing the synthesizers they used to make with the ones they make now. But with the advent of the new firmware 2.0, I no longer think so 😚☺️ The only thing that confuses me is the impossibility of somehow seriously changing the SAMPLE. THANK YOU
Roland's JD-XA synth is super nice with it's 4 voice analog side plus digital side. The analog voices sound great on that synth, only 4 voices but still a value compared to say Sequential's expensive dedicated analog synths.
I hope the give the tr-8 7x7 expansion back to us.. Now is it discounted... I hope we become this in future for free.... Now I have two tr-8 and no way to get my expansion. Maybe I can find a secondhand unit that it have.. But 😢. Or if someone knows a other way? Please let me know..
