User request: How to update firmware of (tr)uSDX to get you Callsign on Display. Resource link: dl2man.de/3b-trusdx-firmware/ and dl2man.de/wp-content/uploads/...
Great video. Finally got my callsign burned in. First problem, you gotta use a real windows machine for the driver. Windows11 running on a MAC Parallels won't play nice. Dug out an ole Dell running Windows 10, everything loaded but the driver just ignored the rig via a usb cable. Finally tried another cable....BOOM. Success! Bad cable now chopped into tiny pieces and thrown away. Now I'm putting together an antenna. Sweet little Transciever! BZ
Thanks for this easy "upgrade" firmware video. I just received my new (tr)uSDX and was working through the long process for the Boot Loader with my collection of Arduinos, when I thought I'd look for a video to confirm I needed to do that, which, it doesn't look like I do. My firmware was v 2.00i when it arrived from China (ebay purchase). Thanks for the device and the variety of help for using it. Looking forward to trying it out. Cheers, John VE7JEY
I was so scared not to mess up when I updated mine. I have a tendency to mess up stuff when is about programing and firmware updates 😅😅😅 The audio.... like a charm. 73 Manuel.
Outstanding!! I watched another of the most "famous" hamtubers do a video on flashing the trusdx firmware and it was the most complicated mess of jargon and procedures I've ever seen, literally could have given a tutorial on performing brain surgery that was less complex! THIS video, on the other hand, is streamlined and totally do-able. Thank you so much Manuel! 73 de KD8ZM
Just building my kit which arrived today whilst watching you video. In this video I like the idea of making a label to fix to the bottom of the case ..Thank you ....
Audio is great. And thanks for the upgrade video. My next project is a trusdx kit that came as a board kit from Sunny. The only bit that I was worried about was “bricking” the microprocessor.
Thanks so much. Worked well. I got an error when installing the driver. But Windows saw the chip anyway and showed the com port, so I was able to complete the process. Much appreciated.
Sorry for question 2. I do not see just Arduino on the programmer dropdown box. Just arduino ISP Programmer, FT232 connected to ISP. And there are 2 of each in the dropdown box
For us that don't want to mess with AVRDUDESS and just use AVRDUDE at the command- line, could you post the command-line options that are listed under the program button in AVRDUDESS once you have configured AVRDUDESS? Rather than installing MONO on my Linux box I would rather just edit the command-line options for com port and file location. Thanks.
In AVRDUDESS under flash there is a location on the computer on your video. On mine it is blank. Will that affect anything or where do I point it to? I’m a noobe so please be gentle.
There´s a lot of new stuff in the pipeline, but no schedule. Guido and me are working on stuff only when life allows. In that past, our private lives have suffered under our commitment to the project. We try to avoid that, but this means: It happens, when it happens.....
@@dl2man Now I see the good stuff you guys had been working on! Amazing!!! Thanks for taking the time. I know family needs time too and that is priority #1. The waiting for new update features has been worth a lot! Testing those new features on the Beta as we type, today March 8th 2023. Thank you guys.
I think I bricked mine. I loaded the firmware (all zeros) to get my serial number. Then I loaded the boot loader, then the firmware from your site with the real serial. Now no display but a COM port shows up. At least they aren't too expensive.
In this case, it was just to show the procedure and how to get your Callsign on the DIspaly, in case it wasn´t programmed. Besides that: Check your Version, and check the changelog. If there´s a newer Version, it will usually have new features and some bugfixes.
@@dl2man Makes me nervous to mess with this. I tried an external power supply and it began to smoke, now it doesn’t come on at all. I had to order another one, so I am reluctant to stick anything except a key.
Updating firmware doesn't work because when the USB cable is plugged into the PC it doesn't recognize the port! Were some of these shipped with bad USB ports the same way the ATS-20+ receivers were?
@@dl2man Got USB port working but when trying to update the firmware it says for the type of programmer to choose "Arduino" in the AVRDudess program but there isn't any setting of just "Arduino"! There are some other Arduino options so I tried some of them but I get an Invalid Device Signature error each time! There seems to be no option for the CH340 chip. Which option for the programmer, if any, will work?
Finally got it to work using "Arduino for bootloader using STK500 v1 protocol". The directions should be updated to show there is no "Arduino" programmer option.
easiest: Ask the seller. Sunny usually can give you the serial. If that´s impossible: program rig with firmware for any Serial Number (like mine in this Video) and it will display the right one. 73 manuel, DL2MAN
Install the driver from my homepage, and only this one and try different cables, as there are USB cables, that are charging cables only ! 73 Manuel; DL2MAN
@@boyet401 This is a windows topic. Please research how to use a different driver. It´s in the device manager - properties of the device, then there´s a few ways to use a certain driver.
