Yes the organization is still around. They help many different types of people not just military people. Over time you will learn that Country Music backs out military people all the time. Many of the artists have close personal ties with the military branches as well. Hearing you say you better stand up was sweet but never a worry from the CMA people. Gary Sinise the actor also has a non profit that help’s military and first responders filling in the gaps that other foundations might not fill. Besides all the other personal injuries you read in another post, Trace also is a recovering alcoholic. He also did not press charges against his wife that shot him. They divorced and that was it. Him and country artist Blake Shelton are very good buddies and you will see them together a lot. Thank You for playing this song it’s been years since I saw it live and almost forgot about it.

You got me again. I hadn't heard this before and I'm now in a puddle of tears. This one reminds me of Sabaton's cover of "1916". It's an extremely powerful song about war and the men who fought. Trace is lucky to be alive❤❤❤. At 17 was in car accident severed his nose, punctured lungs, broken ribs. In 1982, he almost lost both of his legs after being involved in a bulldozer accident. Less than a year later, a 400-barrel oil tank exploded and crushed his left leg. Then, when Hurricane Chantal hit in 1989, Adkins was stranded with nine other workers in the Gulf of Mexico. While on oil rig cut tip of pinky finger left hand. If you notice it is also bent. He had doctors put it so he can still play guitar 🎸. 1994 2nd ex wife shot him in chest, went thru heart and lungs. 2011 his home burned to the ground.

My grandad served in the Korean War 1950-51 sadly he passed away on May 25th 2001 his name was Joe Tucker

I watched a reaction to this a few weeks ago and the person wondered if the line "til the last shots fired" means the last shot of all wars. I have no doubt that Trace could have put in a deeper meaning than what you automatically think of...each of the previous wars. Perhaps they truly can't go home (souls) until the last shot of a war in the future that is literally the last war.
